I was down in TX last week visiting a friend and I finally tracked down Pumking & Warlock(the imperial version of Pumking) AND I just drank my first Dogfish head Punkin Ale.....so within the span of 5 days I have had the chance to drink 3 of my most sought after pumpkin beers on my list that I've never had the chance to drink before.

Rankings?

Pumking>Warlock>Shipyard Smashed Pumpkin>Dogfish Head Punkin Ale>Anderson Valley Fall Hornin' >The Rest (that I have had)

Pumking & Warlock are just so much better than any other pumpkin beer I have had and/or that is available in my area, that I almost feel dejected because I can't get those here. I still find Smashed Pumpkin to be the best pumpkin beer that is regularly available here.

There are still so many ones that are regarded highly that I haven't had yet and likely won't unless I end up randomly traveling next year during the fall, or am willing to pay a ridiculous markup on the beer trading sites.

Oh man. Liquore store down the street is doing a clearance of their summer beers. $5 for six packs, $8 for twelve packs, $15 for a case. All at least decent stuff. Some of it good. Victory, Baxter Brewing Company, Magic Hat, Peak Organic. All of this cheap, slightly old beer is makin me' like

Flipside is, as expected from Sierra Nevada, very good and very available. Hop Head Red has always been good, but I haven't had it yet this year.

What is everyone's opinion of Toppling Goliath? I have a friend in Iowa that will send me some samples in the mail.

This is from Arbor Brewing Co. You do get that fig taste in there. Worth a try.

Incredibly delicious. I don't think Box Steam beers are commonly found outside the South West of England, but this is probably one of the things I'd include if we were doing an international beer trade or w/e.

http://money.cnn.com/2015/09/16/news/companies/sabmiller-anheuser-busch-takeover/

] Budweiser maker Anheuser-Busch InBev (AHBIF) wants to buy SABMiller.

A merger would create a "super brewery" with nine of the world's top 20 beers by volume, and annual sales of $55 billion. Shares in both companies shot up -- the combined group would be worth about $276 billion at Wednesday's prices.

SABMiller (SBMRY), which makes lagers such as Pilsner Urquell and Peroni, said it had no details yet of the planned takeover offer.

If the deal happens, it will be the biggest merger in brewing history, and could rank among the top 10 takeovers of all time, according to Dealogic and EY.

AB InBev, the world's biggest brewer by volume, has been interested in making a bid for SABMiller -- the world number two -- for a while. Sales of Bud, and Bud Light, have been waning for years, putting AB InBev in a tough spot.

Large mainstream brewers have also been struggling to defend their market in the face of a craft beer boom.

Related: How to start a successful craft beer company

As younger drinkers turn in ever greater numbers to independent breweries, the global market leaders have been trying to get in on the act.

AB InBev has swallowed Seattle's Elysian Brewing, Oregon's 10 Barrel Brewing and Chicago-based Goose Island in the last year or two.

SAB Miller has also tapped into the craft beer scene, buying one of UK's most successful independents, London's Meantime Brewing Company, in May.

Analysts say the mega deal could provide some breathing space for the large brewers but is unlikely to reverse the trend.

"[It] can perhaps provide some last drops of stock market intoxication but will remain largely irrelevant to the scores of millennials seeking alternatives to big beer's offerings," said Spiros Malandrakis, senior analyst at Euromonitor International.

SABMiller shares surged by 21% in London. Shares in AB InBev were up about 8%.

Shares in Molson Coors (TAP) jumped 13% on speculation that the company could pick up some brands that the new group may be forced to sell to get regulatory approval for the merger.

Under UK takeover rules, AB InBev has until October 14 to make a formal bid or abandon the plan.

According to NPR AB InBev and SABMiller would make up about 4/5 of the American beer market. So much for those pesky anti-trust laws.....

Had the opportunity to try "Free Mason" brewed in Mississippi. It is a Golden Ale, not heavy at all. It was damn wonderful. I enjoyed it paired with some heavy barbecue portions and three of them on draft gave me a respectable enough buzz that I didn't feel safe to drive.

If you come across it in a "build your own 6 pack" context go ahead and pick one up to see if you like it too and then go buy the whole six pack the next day.

I like it, a lot, but I'm probably a horrible measuring stick for beer reviews. It tastes exactly as advertised, which for some people would be considered dreadful.

A brewery in Denmark is making beer using human urine. The specialty pilsner is called "Pisner," a name derived from wordplay on the type of beer and local slang.

The brew is made with malting barley fertilized by the contents of urinals at the largest music festival in Northern Europe. The 50,000 liters of human waste liquid was used as an alternative to traditional animal manure or factory-made fertilizer products.

"The reason why we make this 'Pisner' beer is because we are a craft brewery out of Copenhagen and about four years ago we converted into organic, so all our beers are organic today," Henrik Vang, chief executive of brewer Norrebro Bryghus, told the Reuters news agency.

Pretty sure I had the equivalent last night with a local craft beer called "Cane Break" that had a strawberry variety. There's a lot of Gulf Coast breweries taking advantage of the bustling strawberry crop in South East Louisiana and I can think of like 3 or 4 of them that have nailed the hell out of strawberry infused beers (despite a lot of my friends being all "Wtf? Fruity beer? What are you some kinda..." you can fill in the rest). And then the Cane Break company has this piece of shit I tried.

I tasted zero strawberry and it was almost like someone just mixed alcohol and hops with seltzer water. I felt like I was drinking a pilsner that started out as a home brewed IPA and someone skipped a critical step. Just dreadful. Like get fucked Cane Break.

I'd drink the urine Pisner just to get that God awful taste out my mouth. Jesus fuck.

It definitely seems like craft beer has caught on with more of the general population in the last couple of years. Maybe it depends on how big the micro-brewery scene is in your specific area. Here in Sacramento/Northern California at large, it is still booming, and I think because so many people see it as a way to support the local community, they are drinking enough of it to where their palates are actually modifying to enjoy IPA's. It's a neat thing to see take place, considering 10-15 years ago when I really started getting into the stuff, most of my peers thought of Heineken as the pinnacle of premium beer.

Been drinking Kona Big Wave recently. A good summer-y beer with hints of citrus.

OTRA VEZ™

Cactus adds a twist to the traditional gose style.

On our search for the perfect warm weather beer, we wanted something light bodied and thirst quenching, yet filled with complex and interesting flavors. We stumbled across the fruit of the prickly pear cactus, native to California. This tangy fruit is a great complement to the tart and refreshing traditional gose style beer. Otra Vez combines prickly pear cactus with a hint of grapefruit for a refreshing beer that will have you calling for round after round. Otra Vez!

This beer is really really good. The sour stuff normally doesn't work for me, but I could easily do a 6 pack of these in a sitting without getting tired of it the way I get with some flavored beers. If you see one in a "build your own 6 pack" setting, grab one and give it a try. This isn't a beer for everyone so don't go balls deep into a 6 pack on my word.

Local brewery Abita tried doing a similar beer in this style, recently, and failed miserably. Too much salt for starters. Left my mouth feeling dry.

Working through a "Build your own six pack" right now. I haven't had a Red Stripe in years. I selected one for tonight and man I do not remember this harsh back end aftertaste in years past. It's great as I'm sipping it but about a second or two after I finish swallowing it a weird flavor keeps lingering. It's almost skunked.

Best by date: Feb 8, 2018.
