Re: TV/Movie Sales and Deals Thread

If anyone is planning on getting Anchorman 2, Best Buy is doing a one-day only sale on release Tuesday for $16.99. They will also give you 100 Bonus Points.

Due to this, Amazon has adjusted their price to $16.99 already, however they usually will end the price when Best Buy does.

True Detective season 1 on Amazon is $39.96 on Blu and $34.96 on DVD. HBO shows tend to be expensive, and it was $69 just a few weeks ago on Blu.

Re: TV/Movie Sales and Deals Thread

Feel like I'm usually bumping this thread for myself but figure others have probably benefited from the deals so here's to keeping going. I'll also be targeting deals for the best PQ and AQ quality versions as well (mostly ignoring the foreign market, sorry Canada and UK).

Braveheart Steel Book $12.49 at Amazon
Bridge to Terabithia $7.44 at Amazon
The Brothers Grimm at $5.79 at Amazon
A Bug's Life at $18.62 at Amazon
Butch Cassidy & Sundance Kid Digibook $17.24 at Amazon
Casino Royale $12.99 at Amazon
Close Encounters of 3rd Kind DigiPack 30th Anniversary $14.99 at Best Buy [Out of Stock]
The Comancheros $9.60 at Amazon

Re: TV/Movie Sales and Deals Thread

Not a specific deal but WBshop has some decent sales/coupons going on.

They currently have a 20% off $50 code - RETAILME20HE that is also stacking with either a $10 off $50 - SZSG8B2 or a $20 off $100 - SQ8APCN.

Stack on the eBates site I've talked about in the past doing 3.5% cash back currently (http://www.ebates.com/rf.do?referrerid=9GbfQWkWO2Z9cyKDTo6Kgg%3D%3D) you can get a pile of stuff at a good price. Most of this will qualify for free shipping as well.

Although I am a sucker for eBates in general with all the free checks I've gotten over the past few years.

Re: TV/Movie Sales and Deals Thread

Best Buy has a bunch of recent blu-ray releases on sale for $14.99 such as Gravity and Inside Llewyn Davis. Also Scooby Doo WrestleMania Blu-ray for $12.99. If you order online (even for store pickup), the aforementioned eBates gets you cash back.

If you have a K-Mart nearby, they have a few deals with their free rewards card too. With rewards card, Anchorman 2 Blu-ray is on sale for a members only price of $12.99 this week.

The members also have the lowest price of The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug that I've seen at $19.99, however Best Buy has it for like $22.99 and if you buy it with the new Lego Hobbit video game you get $10 off.

Re: TV/Movie Sales and Deals Thread

Tomorrow's Best Buy ad is set to have a lot of this year's award nominees for $12.99 - Wolf of Wall Street, 12 Years a Slave, Dallas Buyers Club and American Hustle.

Amazon will likely match, as they did that price for Anchorman 2 and Gravity last week.

Also, for those interested in the old Spider-man movies, most are going on sale now and newer packages will have free movie tickets to go see Amazing Spider-man 2.

Coupons.com has a few new coupons out.

http://www.coupons.com/coupons/Home-Entertainment-Coupons-5478/

The one that catches my eye is the $3 off Anchor Bay one. Works on Django Unchained, which is on sale at Best Buy for $9.99. $6.99 sounds good for Django.

Best Buy has a fair amount of decent blu-rays for $4.99, including some fairly recent titles:

Some of the "newer" titles include Prometheus, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, The Heat, Epic, Life of Pi, Internship and others.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to see it before but Coupons.com has a $5 coupon for that Ben Affleck/Justin Timberlake movie Runner Runner

http://www.coupons.com/coupons/Home-Entertainment-Coupons-5478/

Best Buy has the Blu-ray on sale for $7.99 right now.

$2.99 fairly new release, thinking I may go grab a copy

It appears Target has the best price on Winter Soldier, although Best Buy will give you $10 off if you buy a TV show with it. Can't think of a TV show cheap enough that I want enough to get though...

Re: TV/Movie Sales and Deals Thread

The TCM Store right now has some crazy sales that seem like price errors. Highlights include:

Spartacus Complete Series Blu-ray - $14.98

Marvel Agents of Shield Complete 1st Season Blu-ray - $19.98

Halloween 15 Disc Blu-ray set - $19.98 (!) - this just came out

If you've done eBates, like I've plugged before, 4.5% cash back - http://www.ebates.com/rf.do?referrerid=9GbfQWkWO2Z9cyKDTo6Kgg%3D%3D&eeid=26471

Must've already fixed it as I see Halloween collection at $169.99 :(

Edit: n/m that was just the standard edition, the deluxe is that cheap :D

Re: TV/Movie Sales and Deals Thread

Awesome find, Baby Shoes :) Just ordered the Halloween set there for $19.98! It's listed at $109.99 on Amazon... Expecting the order to be cancelled after looking at other forums but worth the attempt.

Re: TV/Movie Sales and Deals Thread

TCM screwed up the price of the box set, but apparently they are going to honor it even though many people bought it as that price.

Re: TV/Movie Sales and Deals Thread

I'm guessing they put the decimal in the wrong place, if they have the non-deluxe set listed at $169.99 they're probably putting the deluxe one for $199.80 or something....in which case I def don't feel bad at all for getting in on the price screw up because that is wickedly over priced when amazon has it for almost half that.

Re: TV/Movie Sales and Deals Thread

So much for them honoring it, just got this e-mail...

"Dear TCM Shop Customer,

We recently had an issue with our system that mistakenly priced titles incorrectly, and as a result we've had to cancel certain orders. We sincerely apologize for this cancellation and want to offer you a 30% off coupon...."

Re: TV/Movie Sales and Deals Thread

and apparently the coupon won't work on items that are on sale thus making it completely useless since all there stuff is insanely overpriced.

Re: TV/Movie Sales and Deals Thread

I blame the people attempting to buy ten boxes as well as the people contacting TCM. *sigh* looks like I have to work MORE OT to get this.

This is pretty SOP for retail stores and online... not sure why you expected something that's already on sale for 10-30% to allow you to tack on another 30% off in addition aka Double Stacking.

Re: TV/Movie Sales and Deals Thread

I've used coupon codes on top of sale prices at plenty of other places before, so not unusual, and with their insanely priced items 30% off barely brings 90% of their items down to what it would normally cost at most other places...

but that aside, I ended up ordering the Halloween set from amazon, got a rep to give me a price match on the price for it on amazon.ca which is $86.33, and had $85 worth of gift cards built up on my account so $1.33 spent :D
