I actually liked this week's episode much more than the previous two. I laughed hard at Charlie drinking piss and his final struggle through the traps. It wasn't innovative or anything and only served to further show how dimwitted Charlie is which, while nothing new, was effective.

I got behind on a lot of my TV so I watched the last four yesterday (Bathroom Problem, Clip Show and the Super Bowl Two Parter). The Charlie Home Alone fell pretty flat but I don't know if anything can be as bad as that Cricket episode.

The show is past its prime but it still made me sad the season finale is next week. I agree with brock, probably time for everyone to move on but there is usually a moment or two every episode that still makes it worth watching weekly.

its worth watching for sure. there's no question it's well past its prime but i'd still rather watch it than most shows and after seeing what some of them have done on their own i have doubts about their careers afterwards.

I’m an episode behind. But I think the only great one this season has been the Me Too episode. Otherwise this season has been maybe not the worst. But maybe the most forgettable.

I think the writing is a bit off. The core group of guys (Charlie, Rob, and Glenn) are only credited with one episode which also happened in Season 11 which I think is still the worst season. I think some of the cast are still on top of their game (Olson and Howerton in particular), but Howerton's absence has messed up things a bit. AP Bio probably gets cancelled after Season 2, so they should have him for every episode in Season 14 which I imagine is the last season. I can't see the new Disney people renewing it past that with the ratings it's getting, so I figure they will be told to wrap it up next year.

I think the cast will be fine. Probably won't get lead roles, but they'll keep appearing in things. I'm a little burned out on Charlie, but he'll continue to be a staple in comedies. I think Kaitlin and Glenn are the two most talented actors and should be able to carve out decent careers even in supporting parts. Rob has said he prefers writing and directing and doesn't see himself as much of an actor. DeVito is already a legend and will just pop up in whatever he wants too.

Apparently only like 0.6 million people watch the show now. I think they used to have 1.5-2 million on a regular basis back in the day. 13 seasons (soon to be 14) is quite a lot for a sitcom with this kind of premise. I can't think of similar shows with that kind of longevity.

I have to imagine that even with the ratings decline that it's still among the highest rated shows on FX(X). It's not particularly costly to film in comparison to other sitcoms so as long as they like doing it, I can't really see it going away anytime soon (though I think it absolutely should end).

This season wasn't as bad as other recent ones and actually think it's better than last season.

Pretty eh season finale. The ending dance sequence that everyone's raving about doesn't even sniff the number from the high school reunion episode.

Overall, better than last season but not near its peak which is impossible at this point.

I thought the season sucked for the most part.

The only great episode for me was the Time’s Up one. And where they bought new cars was good. Otherwise so much of this season has been totally forgettable for me. The two super bowl episodes just reminded me that their B to C level characters just aren’t very good. I’d have to struggle to think up a time Cricket made me laugh.

Not sure how I feel about the finale. It wasn’t for me, but it had such an impact on so many people that I’m perfectly ok with it. Great dance sequence. But it’s weird seeing the show do a complete emotional 180 like that.

I appreciated it more than I liked it. For a show in it's 13th season that has such a defined formula to do something that different was really ballsy and admirable. I read that Rob did the episode because of the positive feedback towards Mac coming out last season by the LGBTQ community, and that this episode was for them. I think that's cool, but for a comedy show I barely laughed in the episode and I'm not a huge fan of the episodes that only focus on one or two characters. The comedy for the first 15 minutes or so was pretty weak and the last five minutes were probably the best part. Danny DeVito's acting was pretty awesome in the ending and it was a nice reminder of how good of an actor he can be. The best Sunny episodes are when all five characters get something to do, like how the two best episodes of this season (Times Up and The Gang Gets New Wheels) had every character with a story line or something funny to do.

I also agree a bit with the B characters. I love the McPoyles, but Jimmi Simpson is too big for the show at this point. I like Mac and Charlie's Moms, Bill Ponderosa, and The Waitress, but I get annoyed with Cricket, Uncle Jack, or Artemis if they are on for too long. I thought the season was on par with seasons 10-12. Around 2 or 3 great episodes, some okay ones, and a few bad ones. They definitely need to wait until AP Bio gets cancelled for Season 14 so they can have Glenn for every episode. This season had too many episodes with some of the cast missing or barely appearing and the show needs all five together to work.

Trailer looks like a typical Sunny Trailer. Concepts and plots for the Season seem funny and outside of the Noir episode not all high concept and back to basics. Where they just take these five assholes stick them somewhere and let them bicker for an entire episode. No other projects are in the way and all five actors were available for the entire time with Howerton even directing two of the episodes. This could possibly be the best season in years, but we'll see how the episodes end up.

I thought last night's episode was pretty great. Any episode where the five of them are stuck in a room with a bewildered stranger is hilarious and all five characters were pretty hilarious. The woman playing the Focus Group Moderator was absolutely hilarious and her "FUCK, MAN.....WHAT?" after Charlie's stupidity was the biggest laugh of the episode. I also loved the collective outrage of the dong not being shown and Frank's line about raw dawg loads caught me off guard. Dee was pretty damn funny the entire episode with her rant about why she hates strong female characters and then talking about what it would be like if she had a dick making me laugh hard.

Dolph was definitely underused and I wish he actually interacted with the cast, but the episode was more about the Gang anyway. Next week is Dee Day and the preview looks hilarious.

great episode and I loved Dees spiel about women. Franks whole thing about community and the way it excited the Moderator only for it to be about jerking off in porn theaters was fantastic.

I wasn't that into the first episode of the season although the frank/charlie parts were good enough. The Mac/Dennis stuff was really predictable and a bit tired. The "twist" was something you saw coming from a mile away and while that can be good it felt lazy.

First two episodes were amazing. The ski episode had it's laughs mostly due to Charlie not getting it. I guess I haven't seen enough 80s ski movies to fully appreciate the gag. I got the gag because South Park already did it, but I enjoyed the Sunny take on it.

I thought Dee Day was a great episode. Even though Dee wasn't in it as much as I was expecting the episode was still absolutely hilarious and I loved the twist ending with her actually correctly concocting the scheme and then giving the guys a second Dee Day after setting the clock early. I love that they've been setting Dee up as the most vindictive and smartest of the gang in recent seasons. This is the only show that can get away with brown/ yellow face since the ignorance and terribleness of the characters is the joke. Frank in the Martina Martinez outfit had me dying as did Dennis without makeup trying to flirt with the congresswoman. I will say that Mac is just not a funny character anymore and all the jokes this season with him being needy and clingy with Dennis have been huge clunkers. I miss when the character thought he was bad ass and was obsessed with karate.

I'm beating a dead horse, but holy shit Mac is just an obnoxious character this season. He never was my favorite, but he had some funny quirks like the karate and thinking he was a badass. They haven't done that in years and now his only character trait is that he's in love with Dennis. They are definitely making his neediness to Dennis a plot point of the season, but it is absolutely unfunny and hurting the episodes. I was hoping that with Rob getting a shitty looking sitcom on Apple TV that he'd put himself in the background more this season, but he's getting more screen time than the rest of the cast.

The Gang Chokes was a really funny episode besides that. I loved the Dee thrillseeker storyline. Her giddiness at wanting someone to drink the poison was absolutely hilarious and I think Dee's replaced Dennis as my favorite character. I love that they are running with her being possibly more evil than Dennis and god dammit Rob get your wife some more funny plots like this on the regular. Dennis was also great in this one. I love Glenn Howerton as a straight man to the ridiculous antics more than when he's being an evil mastermind. His bewildered reactions to "What are you like 40?" were hilarious. If you tune out Mac, this is on pace to be the best season since 9 or 10.

Mac has been the worst of the gang since season one.

Two episodes back right now. No urgency to catch right up.

this is the best season in several years. Mac is noticeably the least interesting of the characters but unlike other seasons none of the others are really misfiring.

Season is just continuing to role on with another damn good episode. Same problem as usual with Mac being annoyingly one note and needy, but once again the other four were funny enough not to let it ruin the episode. Loved Frank with the gorilla, Dee's terrible comedic texting timing, Dee's trauma with the goats, Charlie peeing on Mac, and then the five of them meeting back up in the Meerkats pods with the Lion King music playing and then Dee finally zinging Mac.

The film noir episode seems to be the best reviewed and received episode this season, but I didn't like it. It felt more like a Community genre homage episode then Sunny and it was written by one of the main writers of Community in Megan Ganz so not a surprise. You could've done the same script pretty much with Jeff Winger as Charlie, Pierce as Frank, Troy/Abed as Mac/Dennis, Britta as Dee, Annie as The Waitress, Chang as the one thug guy, and The Dean as Cricket. The actual Noir aspect was really well done, well directed and thought out and all, but I only laughed when Dee was breaking character and Charlie eating the poison pie. The episode didn't have the group dynamics and comedy I want.

Global Warming episode had one amazing plot and one awful plot. Dee/Charlie plot was the highlight of the season and I missed their chemistry. Dee was hilarious and Kaitlin Olson might be the best pure comedic actor on the show. Her instagram stories where she was trying to be fake happy while raging on Charlie had me dying as did her final story. Charlie is great here too and I loved his nod to the other guy wearing the pizza box hat on the bus. Olson sells his stupidity and aloofness so well. The Mac/Dennis plot stunk and felt like it was included to show off how the actors are in good to great shape for 42/43. Religious Mac was as unfunny and had as many clunky lines as needy Mac. The Dee/Charlie plot was so fantastic that it's still a good episode.

The jumper episode last week was terrific. The best episodes anymore are when they aren't trying to be smart or experimental and just have the characters interact in a confined area.

Double episode finale was a great cap to the best season in years.

Haircut episode was just classic Sunny through and through. Hilarious moments from everyone and all the metaphors for abortion, while not subtle, still made for a great satire. The Laser Tag episode was one of their meta and experimental episodes, but I actually really liked it. Unlike some of these episodes it was actually really funny. All the allusions to Waiting For Godot and to the show itself really worked for me. Loved Dennis' final speech about everyone moving on and doing their own thing and then the fakeout with them returning and blasting Big Mo.

Rob McCelhenney was hinting on twitter last night that they have a deal already made for more seasons and implied that they will start doing more than ten episodes. After this season, I want more. This show managing to still be this good in its 14th season is crazy. The characters not progressing much leads to there still being potential for good story lines and maybe a tiny bit of development. There's still a lot of juice left in this show after it felt stale the last 3 or so seasons.

Officially renewed for Season 15 and it will now pass Ozzie And Harriet to have the most seasons of an American live action sitcom.

I'm happy with that in general and especially after last season. If The Mick had been a success I'd have been more optimistic about their outside projects but it seems like for better or worse this is where they belong.

That Mythic Quest show is getting raves, but it doesn't seem like a show I would watch and Rob is someone I don't really want to watch in anything outside of Sunny. Outside of Glenn trying out for Starlord, none of them seem to really care about being big stars. Rob and Kaitlin have said in interviews a few years ago they are at a point where they are rich and well off, but aren't pestered by paparazzi, and are adored by a rabid cult of fans which is kind of the best spot to be in Hollywood imo.

Sunny, Trailer Park Boys, and Curb Your Enthusiasm are gonna be on til the creators want to stop. And Rob has been saying he wants to continue forever. I can't see any of them ever getting cancelled. FX has huge love for Sunny and it was their first successful comedy unless their are Son Of The Beach superfans out there.

Ten years ago we could’ve started a Son Of The Beach thread and had a ton of responses. These days, I wouldn’t be surprised either way. Thinking of a few posters that probably have fond memories of that show.

Dama’s son’s ninth birthday present will be the Complete Series DVD set of Son Of The Beach and tickets to the Joey Ryan Penis Party.

On a back on topic note, these runs seem to come and to go with how fast they are and how short the seasons are. They could do it forever. I wonder how easy the shoots are.
