Some more good matchups this week. I just realized I'll miss the Mahomes vs. RIVAS non-rivalry between the Chiefs/Chargers. Buffalo/Miami is another early key AFC East game in determining if a team can lock up the AFC East early division win wise.

Glad the Bills get to play them early and see if they actually are worth the hype some have put on them (Miami that is). Allen has had great games against them. Hoping that Edmunds and Milano can go. Losing both would be a big blow. NE could be in tough in Seattle so a win would be huge here

Allen Robinson is demanding a trade. I can see all of these teams being interested.

New England
Vegas
Philadelphia
Jacksonville (even though he was traded away from there)
Tennessee
Green Bay (but the Bears would never trade him there)
NY Jets
San Francisco
Washington

So yeah, one of them.

Robinson's agent said he hasn't demanded a trade. He just wants a fair contract extension. Ryan Pace isn't compotent, so I don't see him getting extended. If they do trade him or don't extend him, Ryan Pace should be led to the guillotine. Robinson is pretty well liked in Chicago and is still producing well for subpar QB play.

The Chicago Bears WR room without Robinson?
Ted Ginn Jr
Anthony Miller
Javon Wims
Cordarrelle Patterson
Darnell Mooney
Riley Ridley

Probably the worst in the league.

We just came out of an incredibly deep WR draft class. Instead of drafting one in the 2nd round to gain some leverage on contract talks with Robinson, Pace waited to the 5th to just draft a manlet speedster in Darnell Mooney.

I also realized after watching the extended highlights of the Eagles game that I vastly underestimated the impact Chase Young would have in the NFL. The dude is everywhere to the point that when a team magically blocks him somehow at least two or three other dudes are getting pressure. It's wild.

This dude is gonna be the first rookie since LT to win the DPOY. Not such a bold prediction since the season started, but pretty bold because it’s such a lofty expectation.

I’ve never seen a defensive player dominate a game in so many facets like this. I know the Eagles O-line was depleted but stuff like the fumble and running back to tackle the halfback blows through the eyeball test. There were so many plays where other WFC D-Linemen broke through or made big plays because of something Chase did. I think on the first six plays, the Eagles QB was sacked or knocked down on all of them.

He’s like a combination of Javon Kearse’s athleticism and Ray Lewis’s football smarts. As long as he doesn’t have injury issues moving forward, he will dominate the league for a long time.

S Larry Wilson passed away at age 82. Dominant DB with the St. Louis Cardinals and had 16 INT between 1965 & 1966 Seasons. He's still 26th in career interceptions.

In college he was in the backfield on literally almost every single play. I dare say that when this season is over he will be considered the greatest rookie of all times.

I highly doubt that. I think Young will be a beast but greatest defensive rookie season ever? C'mon man... How quickly people forget about Lawrence Taylor or even Jevon Kearse and his 14.5 Sacks. Or Aldon Smith. Joey Bosa had 10.5 Sacks in just 12 Games.

Let's wait until Young actually plays teams like Baltimore, the Rams, or Dallas before crowning his ass.

Wanna bet?

"Approximate Value" is the nerd/reference.com stat for football that nobody knows how to calculate - similar to Win Shares and PER for the NBA (https://www.pro-football-reference.com/blog/indexd961.html?page_id=8061). Patrick Peterson has the highest post-merger AV of a first-year NFL player at 20, followed by Mike Haynes (18), Darius Leonard (18), Ronnie Lott (18), and Lawrence Taylor (17). With lack of any better form of measurement, maybe the bet should be whether or not Young matches or beats 17 AV for the 2020 season since that was Taylor's score?

I'll bet 909 and say Young has to match or beat 19 AV as he specifically said, "I dare say that when this season is over he will be considered the greatest rookie of all times."

I personally don't think Young can even hit 17 AV (Kearse hit 16 with 8 FF, 9 PD, and 14.5 Sacks his rookie year) but if it's a truly GOAT Rookie Season then he has to realistically hit the top AV mark.

909 can come up with the particulars of what the winner/loser of the bet has to do if he wants.

I only picked 17 to give some wiggle room as AV isn't the be-all, end-all of metrics so by getting 17 we would at least know that Young is *close* to being the best defensive rookie of all time.

Yeah but when 909 goes out on that far a limb thinking Chase could be the greatest rookie season of all-time given the history of the NFL... gotta hold them feet to the fire, man.

I'll take the bet if

1. If he doesn't play 16 games, the bet is a push and nobody wins.

2. If he gets 18 sacks I automatically win.

I'd still take the bet even though this guy's team is straight up ass crack. I don't think someone on a bad team could actually hit that mark hence the two inclusions above. The rookie sack record is 14.5 and I think he's gonna destroy that.

You're on.

I'd be surprised if he gets more than 13 Sacks. It's really hard for DEs to get sacks (Burrow was sacked just 3 times last night and he had 61 pass attempts) never mind rookies, especially with double teams/RBs chipping them, etc. Nick Bosa had 7 Sacks through 7 games last year and finished with just 9 on the year.

This guy is just different breed though.

Also, as for the bet, one of us should make the other watch a NON-ANIME movie

I think it'd go without saying but the film shouldn't be an overtly gory/pornographic movie either.

Listening to the local sports yak today and the hosts are both former players, OL Zack Streif and RB Deuce McAllister. They said the current plan is for the players to bring 3 different types of cleats for the brand new turf in Vegas. After some heehawing about how much of a stick in the mud coach Payton can be about foot wear during games (he lit into Mike Bell during the super bowl for the wrong cleats) Deuce said three pairs was conservative and don't be surprised to see the equipment guys loading up 4-5 types of cleats per player.

Like how rare is it to be playing on a brand new turf for the first time ever? Surely there's been SOME things done to it to get a little wear into it?

The Raiders have practiced on it a few times. I actually did this in high school though. Nope it fucking sucks and the rubber is as hard as you can imagine and cuts your skin open.

I didn't comment on last week's Lions game so I'll mix it in here.

I don't care that we were down three corners, there's no excuse for blowing that game. Yes, the win was literally in the rookie's hands in the end, but the damage was done well before that. This is a horseshit operation being run in Detroit, and the schedule sets up perfectly for Patricia to get the ol' heave-ho after going 0-4 before the bye.

Green Bay, Arizona, and New Orleans (next three games) represent perhaps the three toughest offenses on our schedule. Meanwhile, we keep rolling out the same roody-poo, candy-ass "defense" out there with mediocre players and minimal adjustments. Regardless of who suits up tomorrow, I have no clue how we're supposed to contain Aaron Rodgers' Revenge Tour. The other side of the ball has a little more juice, but Stafford continues to baffle me by making rookie mistakes at the worst possible moments. We're also gonna be without Golladay again. Oy vey.

Sorry bro but that A-Rod revenge tour is only gonna be sweeter feasting on mediocre NFC North teams. Now that he seems to have a line that keeps him upright, oh man.

Bears signed RB Tarik Cohen to a three-year, $17.25 million extension.

Golden Tate is making his NFL Debut for the Giants while Michael Thomas & Chris Godwinn are out for the Saints and Bucs respectively.

We can't and won't pay Allen Robinson, but we can pay a replaceable manlet RB. This will make our backup RB the 14th highest paid RB in the league.

Cohen's 2019 stat line that warranted locking him up over Robinson? 64 rush attempts for 213 yards, 79 receptions for 456 yards and 3 TDs. WOW! BEAST!

Complete waste of money at the most replaceable position in the league.
