I figured we should have a place to put these because I can't figure out where one of the news bits was.

Anyway, everyone knows Gleison Tibau got busted for the roids in an out of competition test, BUT he also got caught using EPO in a post-fight drug test. This is actually quite difficult to catch someone on, but increased testing made it happen. USADA testing is legit, and the further implementation of a biological passport is going to catch a ton of people.

Damn. That's a good catch.

And if he fades that bad after 2 rounds with EPO, imagine without it. He'll make Romero look like a cardio machine.

All the regular anabolic stuff that he took gave his frame way more muscle than it was supposed to handle. His blood can't carry the oxygen well enough on its own to keep that engine going, makes sense that he'd take some EPO to artificially do it for him.

The funny thing to me is how readily certain people accepted that this guy was just an athletic freak and not on steroids. At 38 years old this guy looked more explosive, powerful, and muscular than anyone else in the division.

Newsflash: There is no such thing as somebody that much more athletic than anybody else their size that is not on steroids.

Tibau dropped his appeal and is accepting the suspension because fighting it is "too expensive" which I imagine is code for "I have no defense but won't admit I'm a cheat".

In what has to be a first in the post-USADA era Romero's suspension has been reduced from two years to nine months, MMAFighting.com reports.

At least his supplements were actually tested and proven to be tainted. I'm not sure why no one ever sues the supplement companies.

It seems like USADA is taking the stance of "Ok, we believe you when you say you didn't know the supplements were tainted but at the end of the day you should know what you're ingesting."

There's really only two ways this could have happened.

1) He didn't pay attention to the formula of the supplements and if he had he'd have noticed that there were prohibited items in it he shouldn't have taken it. In which case fuck him he deserves the two years.

2) The prohibited items weren't on the label. And if that's the case if I'm him I'm suing the company in question for costing me money.

Looks like the suspension is 6 months retroactive not 9 so he's free to fight as of July 12th. He was next in line for a title shot but I feel like if Weidman wins the UFC might do the trilogy so give Romero the winner of Vitor/Jacare. Yes I know he fought Jacare already and the fight sucked but I also think the fight was a draw and him vs Vitor is fire.
