Annoyed by the "BEN WALLACE IS NOT A HALL OF FAMER CAUSE HE WAS A ONE NOTE PLAYER!" discourse on my feed. You can make it in as a one note player IF YOU WON DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR FOUR TIMES!

It looks like he proved me wrong, after all:
  • Never did come clean about the Ed Martin scandal.
  • Never did do right by the University of Michigan.
  • Never did make peace with the rest of the Fab Five.
Still got into the Hall of Fame.

I guess congratulations are in order? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Saying Ben Wallace doesn't belong in the Basketball Hall of Fame cause he was only great at defense is like saying AC/DC and The Ramones don't belong in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame cause all of their songs sounds the same. Sometimes one note talent deserves to be recognized because they play that note so damn well.

(And also I would argue that defense and rebounding aren't necessarily coincided skills so he's at least a two note player IMO)

Also I don't think it's remarked how impressive it is that someone who is only 6'9'' was a multiple time rebounding leader in the early '00s. And IIRC, Ben Wallace was actually shorter than his listed height!

I'd always heard that Wallace's legit height is closer to 6'6", and that a big part of why it took him so long to find a place in the league is because some of his early coaches were trying to make him convert to SG.
