Right here. Valentina Mexican Hot Sauce. First hot sauce I've ever had that's even good enough to eat by itself.

Ha ha, saw this thread and JaXXXson pretty much got my picks on the first go 'round.

Sriracha is the best hot sauce. Hands down. It has wonderful flavor and is hot as fuck. I drown a lot of my food in it :)

Frank's is the best with chicken, IMO. I do own a giant jug of it for making homemade buffalo chicken stuff when we have small sports get-togethers here.

Crystal is the best standard Tabasco-style hot sauce. It's not as acidic as Louisiana brand and Tabasco. I mainly use it on breakfast food, which sriracha or frank's would totally overwhelm. Lately, though, I've really been digging Tabasco Chipotle on breakfast foods. Damn tasty stuff.

Last night a friend bet me $100 to do a shot of the assorted hot sauces he has. I chose this

I took the shot and automatically got hiccups and my gums started burning. Then my mouth/throat started to burn and I wanted to throw up. After that I just felt sick to my stomach for the next couple hours. It was well worth $100 though.

Things that are too hot still bother me a bit (I just a few years ago stopped picking jalapeños off my nachos) or I'm just not adventurous enough to try it yet, so I stick with regular ol Frank's. Much like the commercial says, I do indeed put that shit on everything.

That hot sauce bottle with the rooster on it makes a joke on King of the Hill a bit funnier.

Still no luck on extra hot crystal in the general SF bay area, fucking lame. We USED to have it but not no mo'. I remember my buddy whining that it was burning his lips even after I cut it with butter for him.

Lately though there has been an influx of this really cheap ass brand, "Valu Time." I mostly see it at Lucky stores. So far I've seen them offering French Fries, Crackers (Saltines style), Jalapenos, powdered fruit juice shit and, yes, "Louisiana style" hot sauce. Turns out to be pretty good and beats the pants off SF (79 cents vs. 2.99 and up for Crystal) Crystal prices.

My wife thought she could taste a difference so I just refill the Crystal bottle and chuck out the Valu Time bottle to shut her up. Every now and then she buys a new bottle of Crystal though and I gotta admit the Crystal, then, kinda tastes better... but I end up switching back and forth on preference tbh.

If anyone has a Big Lots near them it's a great place to find cheap hot sauce

I picked up a 12 oz. Louisiana Brand for $1.25 the other day. It's good but way too salty.

I've also seen Trappeys, Crystal and Crystal Xtra there, among other brands.

It's worth checking out every couple of weeks to see what comes through.

Srihacha is something of a double-edged sword to me. It's so spectacular that I have to overdo it, to the point I have trouble finishing whatever I've put it on. I haven't found the perfect balance yet, but I haven't found anything sensible that I haven't enjoyed it on. It's like a sweeter, hotter Frank's.

Frank's is still my go-to, and I think someone mentioned their Buffalo-style. It's great, but I use it primarily for cooking, especially if I'm slow cooking; but it doesn't seem to lend itself to "everything" the way Frank's does.

Love that a thread can be picked up nearly two years after the fact.

Question: Do we consider wasabi-soy a hot sauce? I think we can agree that it's not really that hot, but a good amount of it at once will hit you in the back of the head for a second or so.

At work someone brought in something called "The Hottest Fucking Sauce". I can verify that it's hot, but it doesn't have much flavour going for it so I can't recommend it.

I know this, or something similar, has happened to everyone in the history of the world, but:

I didn't know wasabi was horseradish-y, so when one of my buddies brought over some wasabi corn nuts, I ate a handtful the way I would popcorn. That tainted it for me. I'm never going to eat anything sushi-like anyway, so that might account for something.

I went three months without horseradish, incidentally. Same place, too. Roast beef on wick at the Casino (pretty good, but not great). Had it in October last year, overdid it with the horseradish, got scared off. Tried it again three months later, also at the Casino. I knew the horseradish wasn't to blame.

I've recently got on the Srihacha after visiting a place that had a bottle on every table. I've been putting it on every non-sweet absorbent food I eat now (for instance, I'm not putting it on salad). It's pretty good.

I don't know how well received mixing Thai sauce with Mexican food goes, but I put some on tacos recently and it was quite wonderful.

Got some of this on a recent Big Lots trip

It was so fucking good I literally started taking nips of it out of the bottle. Went back and stocked up on 5 more bottles in case I never see it there again

I also got a bottle of the same brand Habanero. Made some turkey burgers with it that turned out really well.

I like wasabi horseradish sauce with any pork dish or prime rib. I can even go with it for steak depending on the type and how it is prepared.

I've been eating a lot of bibimbap lately and now I've an urge to dump Gochujang on random food items. It's not super hot or anything, but the flavours are great.

Gotta find a good bibimpap recipe. I used to work right by a korean bbq place with amazing bibimpap. Miss those days.

Don't know if anyone has tried any of the halal food from the well known cart on 56th St and 3rd Ave in NYC. But they make a pretty good hot sauce from scratch. You gotta make sure they don't douse it all over the food though, because it's really spicy. Gotta see if they'd sell it by the bottle next time.

I have had the famous halal and it's amazing. You mixed up the address a bit though. It's on 53rd and 6th.

Haha yeah, I always mix up the address. All I remember is that it's right in front of MoMA. You're right - 53rd & 6th. Been going there for 9-10 years and I still can't get it right. My fave spot for late night food for sure.

I like how you made it your own. I live right by an asian food market, so kimchi will be easy to find but i'll try the saurkraut version too. Will also probably use quinoa, to avoid rice. I'm also avoiding pork. So I'll try it with chicken the first time. Man I sound like a huge puss right now. But yeah, this recipe looks ridiculous so I'll eventually try it. Fucking bacon!

Picked up a bottle of Sriracha today and doused it on otherwise boring rotisserie turkey breast.
