New Guitar Hero, coming later this year. They seem to mainly be showing the FMV Live portion, which has you in a first-person live-action view, playing as the guitarist on a stage. The video will change from a "good" to a "bad" feed, depending on how well you perform the song.

I saw Live being compared to a Call of Duty campaign, whereas Guitar Hero TV will be the bulk of the game—CoD multi-player.

GHTV is a collection of music channels like old MTV, where music videos will play in the background (instead of the FMV, or your in-game band on a stage in older games), and you'll play the note charts in the foreground. There's a selection of on-demand songs, in addition to what seem like sequential curated channels.

They're using a new guitar controller, which has 6 buttons in a 3-"fret" by 2-"string" layout.

The upper buttons are black; lower are white. On-screen, you'll see notes represented by black guitar picks pointing up; white picks pointing down.

It's being made by FreeStyleGames, who previously did the DJ Hero series. Those were pretty good games, so that's a good sign.

The guitar & game will be $100, on PS4, PS3, Xbone, 360, Wii U, and mobile. Guitar Hero TV will be included with that, at least to a certain degree.

Re: Guitar Hero Live

At this point I'd probably rather just buy a real guitar or real set of drums and buy a game that taught you how to play the real thing.

Everything you want and more.

Spam bots aside, I don't know on this. I have so many peripherals lying around from last gen. I can't imagine there being any new songs to inspire me either.

Re: Guitar Hero Live

IGN has a stream with first gameplay of Rock Band 4. It's Rock Band. No weird FMV judging your play. All your downloadable DLC available to import. I didn't hear anything about instruments being compatible.

EDIT: They said they are "working on" hardware compatibility.

Yeah, might as well keep this all in the same thread. IGN's had Rock Band 4 features almost daily as part of their IGN First feature for May. I think this page has compiled them:
http://ca.ign.com/articles/2015/05/01/rock-band-4-everything-you-need-to-know-ign-first

The first 6 RB4 songs announced today, and played on the IGN stream:

Avenged Sevenfold – "Hail to the King"
Fleetwood Mac – "You Make Loving Fun"
Jack White – "Lazaretto"
The Killers – "Somebody Told Me"
Spin Doctors – "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong"
The Who – "The Seeker"

Rock Band 4's full soundtrack has been announced now. Release date is 3 weeks from tomorrow.
http://www.gamespot.com/articles/the-complete-rock-band-4-soundtrack/1100-6430537/

Here's a Spotify playlist, though it hasn't been updated with today's new songs yet.

They announced a little while ago that the Xbox One version of the base game (no instruments) will include a legacy adapter for wireless Xbox 360 instruments. It's $80 USD for the game and adapter. Wired 360 instruments will not work, aside from USB microphones. The PS4 version doesn't need an adapter; the wireless USB dongles will work with a PS4.

Here's an instrument compatibility chart for RB4:

http://www.harmonixmusic.com/blog/rock-band-4-legacy-dlc-download-begins-and-dlc-sale-update/

Half-price sale on pre-RB3 DLC is definitely ending. If you want a bunch of old songs for $1 each, hop on it.

Also, there's no batch re-downloading of DLC you already own. That's gonna be a pain. A lot of it should be available to download now, though.

The Rock Band 3 song export to Rock Band 4 should be live on both PS4 and Xbox One in North America. If you've got Rock Band 4 in standby mode, restart it to get the "Exports" menu to appear. Costs $15, and includes all 83 songs.

An update also went up earlier this week.

Amazon had GH: Live for stupid cheap ($49) so I managed to price match it. GHTV is actually a pretty cool idea.

The campaign is....weird. I don't know if it's my shitty TV but the sound mix when you play the live shows is awful. It doesn't help when it is all overpowered by the clicking of the strum bar.

Online multi-player is coming to Rock Band 4 late this year. An expansion pack is coming this fall, with details announced at E3. Practice mode coming in June. Tweaks to library navigation (sort, filter, etc.) coming fall. And a few other bits from Harmonix's PAX panel:
