Seriously considering the Cincinnati date.

St. Louis is seriously letting Axl come back?

Ah whom I kidding, this tour won't make it past two dates before imploding

SHKRELI SWAG said:
Rumor has it that the reunion would consist of Axl, Slash, Duff and Dizzy but no Izzy, Adler or Sorum. Rather, current members Richard Fortus and Frank Ferrer would fill the rhythm guitar and drums slots respectively.

This turned out to be correct, except they also have a new second keyboard player...a woman.

There's very little footage due to a camera/phone ban, but it happened. Axl doesn't sound too good, but I'm still going to spend way too much money to see them at Metlife on July 23rd.

I saw that they had presale tickets up today so I checked to see what it looked like for the Heinz Field show. You can sit in the 500 level for $46.25, but Ticketmaster is adding $26 per ticket in fees. More than half of the cost of the ticket. I know people have been complaining about ridiculous ticket fees for years, but that's the craziest I've ever seen.

The more they play, the better they'll sound, I'm sure. I saw some footage from the Vegas show, and while Axl sounded really good on November Rain, when they reached the big guitar solo towards the end, Slash sounded like someone who had never touched a guitar, just hitting random strings.

This was f'n amazing, I was 15 rows back, they played for 2 hours and 40 minutes and did pretty much everything you'd expect. Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet Child o' Mine, Paradise City, November Rain, Nightrain, Rocket Queen, You Could Be Mine, Mr. Brownstone, It's So Easy, Patience, Estranged, Knockin' on Heaven's Door, even three songs from Chinese Democracy. No "Don't Cry," however. Axl sounded much better than he did when the tour started, which I attribute to the stint he did with AC/DC. And hearing these two ham jams

back to back was one of the highlights of my life. Lenny Kravitz opened, though, and he sucked. If you ever go to a concert where he's the opener, come late.

I've been going through a bit of a Use Your Illusion phase lately.

Chuck Klosterman's probably talked about it a gazillion times but it is really kind of mind boggling that UYI came out a week before Nevermind. Drives home that "Life is what happens when you're waiting for other things to happen" cliché, doesn't it?

Also I lirl everytime I think about Axl giving a proto Jim Halpert smirk at the camera sitting next to the dolphin at the end of the "Estranged" video"

The band just announced a stadium tour and they're hitting MetLife in July. I didn't see their last stadium tour when they first reunited in 2016 so I'm going to try to go to this one. I don't feel like blowing a lot of cash, though.

Smashing Pumpkins are opening up for this stadium tour in Philly, Detroit, Toronto, MetLife, and Fenway.

I DON'T KNOW IF WE'LL EVER BE ABLE TO HOSE ALL OF THE SEMEN OFF OF KRESSE AFTER THIS ONE!

Billy has bagged on Axl in the past so I can't imagine the amount of sour grapes he had to eat to accept this gig.

There is no way that SP were going to headline an arena/amphitheater level tour this summer unless they brought along 2 or 3 other '90s bands. At this point, Billy's probably smart enough to swallow them grapes and just get through these six dates.

I was wondering why tickets to GNR were 50% more expensive than they were last time they came to Boston area. Now I know (That and Fenway has seating for 15k-20k less than Gillette, where GNR played last time)

I'm definitely going to the Metlife show but I will hold off on buying until the inevitable price drop. The tickets have officially been on sale for almost 8 hours now and there's so much blue on the map these dudes might as well be playing in the ocean. I sure hope the tour doesn't get canceled due to low ticket sales, but they really overestimated demand thinking they could come back and do stadiums. It's been four years and the initial reunion momentum is gone. I don't know if there's that much demand for a new album, or even if I want new music from them that badly, but it's the logical marketing hook for a new tour, and it's not happening probably ever. Also I looked at the setlist for their most recent show and the show is largely unchanged from three years ago (actually it's a few songs shorter than the MSG show I went to). They've added Velvet Revolver's "Slither," the old B-side "Shadow of Your Love," "Dead Horse" and the inferior Lies version of "You're Crazy" but that's it. But still, GNR and the Pumpkins bah gawd how can I complain.

FAKE EDIT: Upon further research I see that they played "Locomotive" three times last year and it'll be worth the whole damn ticket price if they play it at Metlife

I did not go to the MetLife show but it looks like it wasn’t that great. However that’s not what this post is about.

They finally released a new song. Sort of. When Axl started touring with new GNR in 2001, this was one of the initial batch of new songs they were playing (along with “Chinese Democracy,” “Madagascar,” “Street of Dreams” and “Riad n’ the Bedouins”). Back then it was called “Silkworms.” Even then as a 15-year-old mook I thought the song was kinda bad and that it didn’t fit in with the other new songs, let alone the classic GNR material that comprised a bulk of the set list. They only played it a few times, then it didn’t make the album and that was that, I thought. But give it twenty years and the addition of Slash and Duff, and...somehow it’s worse now. They even took out the ambient intro that was the only good part. The song is just straight ass. This is why I wasn’t eager for a new record from these guys. The first post-reunion GNR song is Silkworms, the song so bad it got cut from Chinese Democracy. This is a lot funnier than if they just recorded a new bad song from scratch.

This song is ASS, @BUTT . It sounds like GNR doing a bad job of ripping off The Prodigy which seemed like an outdated reference in 2001 but is absolutely absurd in 2021. RIP guy from The Prodigy.

I forgot ECW Arena hosted concerts. A third tier hair metal festival there feels just right to me. Hopefully, they get Bully Ray to emcee.

Also I thought Autograph retired after their last remaining original member that was still with the band died the other month? Bands with no original members are always an extremely questionable proposition but at least a band like Foreigner has a large back catalog that people are clamoring to hear. Do people really like "Turn Up The Radio" that much?

I had forgotten that the original singer for Autograph sang the 7th Heaven theme song. Hell of a career turn. I'm sure @BUTT has discussed this with his BFF bob_barron.

Weirdly, come to think of it, I've never been to a hair metal concert. Probably too late to start. As alluring as idea of wolfing down a cheesesteak and hanging out at the ECW Arena with Steven Adler is...

Mrs. Laz dragged me to see Brett Michaels at the Casino Ballroom in Hampton Beach. I told a Sebastian Bach lookalike to go fuck himself and cringed hard at Brett covering Sublime.

So what does Stephen Adler do, just get on stage and drum GNR hits?

Autograph is the only other group on that poster I've heard of.

Yeah. It's essentially a GNR tribute band with Adler drumming. I think he comes up and gives a speech towards the end of the set LOL.

I've heard of eight of the bands cause I've read too much Chuck Klosterman. I've only heard songs from two though (Autograph and Pretty Boy Floyd, both got some play on VH1 Classic's hair metal block in the mid '00s). Three if we're counting Steven Adler's contributions to GNR.

Axl sounds OK on it but Slash ruins the solo on every Chinese Democracy song. He has too much pride to play another guitarist's solo so he just replaces their work with seemingly improvised noodling. I do like the reworking they gave to "Better" but every other song from the record suffers for it.
