I liked Saturn but no way he should’ve made the $4 row ahead of Konnan and over Wrath is even kinda questionable. I guess Saturn is my vote for biggest ripoff in this game if we got others nominating value picks.

I rewatched a lot of '99 Thunders when they got uploaded to the Network a year or two back cause I hate my free time and it seemed like Perry Saturn was in the main event of literally about 4 out of 5 episodes so if it's all time, I'd say he's worth it.

However, it looks like it's the 1998 iteration of all of these guys so yes I agree with my frienemy @Baby Shoes that he is the biggest ripoff of the game.

Stating facts isn’t a sign of being an enemyl. If anything I am being a better friend by keeping him accountable.

Saturn was probably as well protected as Malenko and Benoit by late 1998 tbh. He felt like a big deal by a point. Even the dress angle didn't really seem to slow his momentum down that much. Having a bad match with 1999 Rick Steiner (THE BANE OF MY EXISTENCE) who gave him nothing to work with while sandbagging him otoh did hurt his heat a lot.

He seemed kind of pouty by time of the Revolution. He had some surprisingly forgettable matches with Rey & Eddie but Fall of '99 is a period where I don't think anyone was motivated and if they were motivated, they were stuck in doomed to failed gimmicks (see heel Sting or SID's stupid undefeated streak)

Yeah Revolution was around the same time as the match with Steiner at Fall Brawl. That group seemed to hurt both Saturn and Malenko a lot.

Shane Douglas thought that affiliation would help him go to WWF with the Radicalz and WWF was all “nah” and then Shane stayed in WCW fighting for Viagra

I love ‘99 SID but the way the Millennium Man was booked was so stupid. If ‘99 WCW had the sense of humor that ‘00 WCW did, it would have been fucking awesome but it was treated with a sense of gravitas that made it look so stupid.

Booking Sid wrong is incredible. I was way into the idea of Goldberg having to deal with Nash, Sid, and Bigelow over the course of the year, even with the streak gone. Fresh hoss battles to last a year.

People say the streak ending killed Goldberg’s heat but it’s more complicated than that. I think the end of streak could have been the start point for more interesting booking and a more nuanced Goldberg but he just rambled on with barely any direction.

They waited too long on the Bigelow feud as well. Bigelow was really hot after coming in in December 98, so they waited two months to do the match with the fans not really caring much about Bigelow by that point. Having Bigelow work a boring 12 minute match with Wrath the PPV before wasn't smart either.

Norton with his Vicious and Delicious rights fighting Hugh Morrus in his Man Of Question tights is big metaphor for the change in product and attitude the nWo brought.

I wonder how a talent starved 1993 WWF would have handled Regal. His TV title stuff was GOOD SHIT PAL, but he was stuck in the midcard by 1995.

That does send the balance of power off though as young Regal never mentors Terra Ryzing then and HHH perhaps never gives Regal the NXT gig.

But on the flipside, snobby Regal might get the blueblood gimmick 1st, leaving HHH to find a new path in the WWF if he still jumps in 1995.

Even flabby "I love drugs!" Regal is awesome in this little gif :)
