Burns' eight-hour PBS documentary "Muhammad Ali" is a heavyweight examination of the life and times of "The Greatest."

I've watched many Ali documentaries, read several books, watched a bunch of his fights on DVD and youtube....and yet I bet Ken Burns will entertain and teach me something with this.

If you haven't read the 600+ page autobiography of him by Jonathan Eig that came out a year after he died, Brod then you definitely should. It's a very excellent warts and all portrayal of him. It dives deep into adultery and domestic violence accusations. It doesn't diminish great things he did in objecting to the Vietnam War and for Civil Rights but paints a fuller picture of who he actually was as a person.

I'm hoping this documentary will portray a similarly, in depth complicated look.
