What a Vince Russo swerve this week.... A music teacher was caught banging his student...only for her mother to reveal the teacher had seduced her 16 years earlier and he's been fucking his own daughter!

It somehow went from compelling TV to being the most unintentionally hilarious show possible. I can't imagine what it's like now. More scowling, less...everyone else.

They should rename the show to, "The Adventures of Noah Benson." It's fine until they have to somehow involve Noah into more calamity.

i always think about how when it first started the detectives would talk about how people in the SVU would be transferred out after 5 years because it was so intense (or whatever the wording was) and how fucked up they all must be now.

That first season where it was basically Homicide: Life on the Street was the best.

Another instant wacko classic this week:
https://www.tvinsider.com/734989/law-and-order-svu-return-alta-kockers-transgender/

The audience is introduced to a young woman, who is reading from her graphic and provoking memoir, titled Blue Barracuda, about time spent as a child prostitute. Her name is Bobbi O’Rourke, and she is later bludgeoned to death with a brick in the alley behind the building.

But, of course, there are many layers to this episode and crime. It turns out that Bobbi is actually a transgender sex worker named Tammy, who was hired by the book's publisher to pretend to be author. The real Bobbi doesn't come outside. Benson & Co. quickly establish that Bobbi wasn’t actually transgender, he just “discovered that he could make more money pretending to be a teenage girl,”
The murder is solved pretty quickly. Tammy was killed by a former client of hers who was shocked to find out that she was a trans woman. He wanted to prove his "wasn't gay."
Then act 2:

NUP_184919_1363-1014x570.jpg

Bobbi’s publisher eventually admits that he’s never actually met Bobbi; the manuscript showed up, unsolicited, and the kid at the reading was, indeed, a sex worker named Tammy whom the publisher paid a couple of hundred dollars to pretend to be the elusive author. But Bobbi’s payments have been direct-deposited to an account accessed from a computer; Fin gets the ISP address, and he and Carisi head out to the home.

Inside Judd Hirsch and Wallace Shawn are living like something out of Hoarders. They can't stand one another and their interactions are like a twisted Grumpy Old Men routine with Jewish/Yiddish insults being tossed around alongside some casual homophobia.

At first, the two men claim to have no knowledge of Bobbi or his book, Blue Barracuda. But while they’re being questioned at the station, dropping Yiddish slurs all over the place, Carisi investigates more and finds a hidden room with a laptop containing a work-in-progress titled Blue Barracuda 2. Eventually, Ben confesses that he wrote the book as a means of supporting them, because their dead mother’s money was about to run out.

About that dead mother? Carisi finds her body in a locked freezer in the home’s basement.

Meanwhile, Benson realizes that the writing in Blue Barracuda echoes what she’s heard from a ton of abuse victims over the years. With a little pushing, she gets Ben to admit that he’d been abused by a counselor at the community center when he was a child. He was too ashamed to tell his brother or his folks. What he doesn’t know: In another room, Joe confesses to Rollins that he, too, was one of the counselor’s victims, but his shame over the incident stopped him from confiding in his sibling.

They end up in court, where Hirsch suffers a heart attack. Wallace ends the episode by admitting the sexual abuse he suffered decades earlier to his now dead brother.
