NXT India is coming

Reports surfacing the past few days that WWE is getting ready to launch NXT India, similar to NXT UK. The goal is to have the program for television in India but it would be available on the WWE Network for those around the world that are interested.

The newest reports are that not only is the show going to be based out of the PC, as there have been multiple talents from India training there but now not only are they using the guys floating around the PC but they are going to put the Singh Brothers and Jinder Mahal on the brand.

The Singh’s aren’t super surprising as they really were mostly on 205 Live before the pandemic but Jinder is pretty surprising to me. He was going to be in a post-Mania program with Drew for the title until he got hurt. Obviously there are more talented folks that many would rather see pushed on the main brands but Jinder going to that, even as a featured star, would feel like a bigger drop than when guys would have to go to WWECW back in the day.

Please please please please please please please have Khali in the William Regal role.

Khali is like a God in India. Ethan HD, a wrestler from the PNW has a podcast where he talks to other wrestlers. He did an episode with Facade, and they talked about their time at Khali's school. Ethan was talking about how Khali saved him from being arrested, because he was stopped crossing the boarder to leave, and the cops asked why he was in India. He told them to visit a friend, and when he brought Khali's number up in his phone, the officer flipped out and allowed him to leave.

I think it's a scenario where Jinder could be pushed to a certain level in American WWE and have "global" exposure or he could be a legitimate superstar in India instead. Look at Great Khali being akin to Andre the Giant in India compared to how he's thought of by American fans.

It reminds me of guys being superstars back in the 80s in Canada, the UK, Ireland, etc. and then were small to medium fish in America. I'd think there are worse fates to have in the wrestling industry than being a regional/"local" star.
