I thought I had heard/read somewhere that Joel Gertner went back to school after ECW and began pursuing a college degree, although for what I am not sure.

I tried to make a list, from memory, of everybody who's ever won a WWF/WWE World Championship with a top rope move. I came up with:

Does Yoko count? Technically wasn't from the TOP rope but off the ropes regardless.

Actually, I was counting Balor's Universal Title win. If I were counting NXT, I would have added Ember Moon and Io Shirai; I'm not sure which men won the NXT title with a top rope move.

When did Yoko win the title with the Bonzai Drop? He beat Bret after Fuji threw salt in the eyes, and he beat Hogan with a leg drop. Did he have a third title reign, that I forgot about?

You can also include Bayley for the women’s side, she defeated Charlotte with the elbow drop.

AJ Styles won with the springboard if we count that.

Not to get too pedantic over it, but I remember having an argument during my peak efedding years (2003-2005) about why springboards DO count as top rope maneuvers and, particularly in kayfabe, also have the potential to do more damage.

@Mr. S£im Citrus Lesnar didn’t win with the shooting star. Angle covered for the botch by rolling out of the way at the last second and then going for a pin. Lesnar finally won after hitting an F5.
