Wore an Atari shirt and NES controller hat to my friend's gig last night. The owner of the venue, I know casually, chatted me up while the band was tearing down. He's HUGE into late 70s - 80s video gaming and he's also HUGE into the arcade scene. He occasionally sets an Atari 2600 up in the bar (he also has a vintage TV collection in the bar) but the drunks always wind up not respecting the system/games and it becomes a cluster so he's very selective on when he sets up games.

He wants to slowly evolve into a Bar-cade that also has bands. He was considering one of those DIY MAME cabinets with 4500 files. I suggested, and am asking y'all to either support or shoot down my argument, that he shouldn't do that. Having drunks try to figure out what they want to play out of 4500 files is counterintuitive and will cause more problems than entertainment. I suggested he figure out 4-5 games that HE would want in his business that would have a broad appeal to bar people. I suggested the Mortal Kombats, Simpsons, Ninja Turtles, multi player type stuff and maybe one sturdy pinball machine. He also already has a tech guy lined up for when stuff breaks.

He seemed to be giving my thoughts fair consideration. He was also drunk out of his mind (he kept saying he was hungover so he was drinking to get rid of it) and had to pay the band so we had to shake and go our separate ways. Really awesome dude, I want to see him succeed and realize his dreams.

This is the same venue a year ago I had to help him eject a drunk that licked the bartender, owner's wife, then went piss all over the bathroom and himself. The only reason they didn't eject him after licking the bartender is he was spending a shit ton of money and buying rounds for the band and she rather deal with sexual harassment to lost profits  (He had leaned in to tell her his drink order and instead licked her). So yeah, anytime I walk in she gets excited and starts immediately pouring me an Old Fashioned and the owner "MY MAN!!!" (if only they knew, had that drunk pulled a weapon they'd have two puddles of piss to clean)

I hate myself again. Sunset Overdrive came out on PC this week. I liked it on the Xbox, so I bought it. Forza Horizon 4 went on sale and I bought it. After playing Forza for a bit, it gave me a message that my video memory was running low. I have an old 1060 GTX that I used for the last four years. So I thought, maybe I should upgrade because it's old and there might be deals now. NewEgg sends me an email and says they have 1060 GTX on sale for $265 + comes with Monster Hunter code. I went on Amazon and it turns out it's actually a good deal, so I bought it.

I installed the 1070 GTX and my Forza graphics and framerate increased dramatically. WWE 2K18 plays smoothly when I have more than four wrestlers in the ring. So far so good.

I got a Samsung Galaxy Tab A because it was $150 on Black Friday. This thing's battery is a fucking beast. I also had no idea that you could pair an Xbox controller with it for games. I barely use my XBone anymore so it's nice that I can still get use from the controller.

Nearly 10 hours of uptime doing pretty much everything (browsing, work, games) and the battery is at 50%. That's fucking impressive to me.

I wish they would just release those games for the current home consoles/PC. I already have the Street Fighter/Mega Man/Beat Em Up collections. I don't want to spend more money to clutter my house.

Days gone is getting very average reviews. That’s a disappointment. I was hoping to make that my next game after getting the god of war platinum.

Street Fighter & Mega Man definitely have existing PS4 collections. Not sure about the side scrollers though. I'd love to see the Final Fights & Saturday Night Slam Masters make it over to current consoles.

There was a Beat Em Up bundle with Final Fight, Captain Comando, and a few other games.

I'm kinda digging it. Really enjoy the stealth mechanic in this one. Hordes are pretty wild, too.

I know I’ll check it out. But at this point not until after a price drop.

My buddy was driving through a small town and randomly stopped at some rummage sales today. The lady was selling LJN WWF guys, He-man stuff, Thundercats and Centurions, among other things for 50 cents a figure!

My buddy got a 300 dollar Thundercat girl off the pile and all the LJN guys, but left a ton of money sitting there. He didn't look until he got home and saw the Centurions were selling for 120+ a piece on ebay.

I cried in agony hearing he left ANYTHING there. The kicker is his brother was with, fresh off of winning 500 dollars at the Casino. And he left the shit there too!

I think we had an emulation topic but I'm not searching for it. Anyway, there's a way to play SNES in widescreen now.

I was hit up on FB about helping a local lady sell a deceased loved one's old video game stuff (and a few other collectibles). I gave her a fair assessment of what everything would run if working. Didn't hear from her for a few hours.

Then I noticed she was trying to sell other items not discussed in our messages in a fire sale manner, "has to go tomorrow!" So with things kind of tight right now, I offered to her $75 for "the video game stuff, I just need to go to savings tomorrow." She immediately agreed. Said she's leaving for rehab on Wednesday. So now I feel weird. I don't want to take advantage but I was under the impression it was a recently deceased relative and not "I need to get rid of this stuff before I go away for a while."

My initial offer "video game stuff" was off a picture of an original Xbox, an NES, an N64, and an Atari 2600. I later remembered the pictures included two DS systems. So I'll see tomorrow what she interpreted as "video game stuff" and bring a full $100 for my own conscience.

Also, it is my risk if none of it works so there's that.
For $105 I got all of the above, a handheld Monopoly game from 1997, a handheld boxing game from 1979, an Xbox one controller, an Xbox 360 controller, some troll/goblin figure from Pyro and no wires for anything but the N64. The DS systems were actually DSi systems and there were 3 games and a carrying case. After we exchanged money for goods she asked me to bring her to the gas station for cigarettes (she had no car) so I did. She proceeded to have a meltdown in my car about her rehab the next day. She told me she was having to go "For work" because she "works for the DEA" and her cover was blown. I was able to piece together with Google and local paper police reports that she blew the whistle on her dealer and didn't listen to the cops while waiting for the trial and so now she has to go to rehab to make sure she's a reliable witness. Sad stuff.

So far I've sold the Nintendo for $55 (to a friend, I know I could have gotten more) and have a bite on the Xbox tonight. Also someone wants the Xbox 1 for $15. Wife wants us to play the DSis together- she's not a gamer generally so jumping on this chance. Still working on moving the N64. If I can cover my costs with the N64 and 360 controller, I'm keeping the Atari. Which I can't get it working right now, I think power supply is the issue. When I get off tonight, the new power supply is in my mailbox. We'll see.
So this lady was murdered yesterday, according to the local paper. eek

Yeah, I already called the detective bureau on the advice of one retired and one active cop. Even if I bought the stuff in August, abundance of caution and all.

I told them about the strange interaction and all the DEA stuff in the prior post. As it turns out, not breaking news, I was one of many callers to their office saying the deceased spun them the same story in a series of bizarre encounters. I also spoke to someone else who gave me a few things of information that doesn't it any less tragic, but the deceased was running with the wrong crowd AND telling people she had friends in various levels of law. Connect the dots.

They took my information (protocol?) but doubted they'll need me going forward.

ALSO: I feel kinda icky now trying to sell the stuff I bought from her. I still have a few items because I didn't feel like refreshing the buy/sell posts.

I started playing SmackDown Here Comes the Pain again. It's probably the best Smackdown game because of the roster and game modes.

I have a soft spot for SVR '06 over HCTP, but that's mostly because of how many great CAWs I made for it. HCTP had the most fun gameplay, and I really wish that there was a wrestling game out now that felt more like that.

HCTP was the one where Rey turned heel by headbutting Undertaker in the dick right? Cause yeah, that's the best one.
