Probably more appropriate for sports folder but more likely to be seen here. Sad loss. If he had pursued wrestling full time, I think he could have been main event level. No other non wrestler that showed up in WCW showed more passion for wrestling. And I will include Mongo in that statement...

Fuck. One of the most dominant pass rush specialists in the 90s and super underrated in that regard. RIP

Man we really are a wrestling bubble if that’s true.

the man is an NFL HoFer, insanely tough even for his era. That clip of him headbutting a player without his helmet on is burned in my brain. RIP

I was just thinking about Greene last week, an ebay seller stuffed one of his cards in with a purchase I made. He was a joy to watch.

He's one of my favorite non-Packer players ever. Although a green and gold diehard, Pittsburgh has been my number 2 team since 1995 when they went up against Dallas in the Super Bowl.
He had a fun moment while coaching the Packers in the 2010 Super Bowl when he told Clay Matthews "Its your time" or somesuch and Clay went out and caused a fumble on the next play. I hope that's how it played out at least, the memory fades....

I knew him purely from WCW and thought he fit that time in wrestling perfectly. Just a tonne of enthusiasm and athleticism that really sold it.

Yep. Greene channeled his inner-Van Vader and told Matthews, "it is time," on the sideline. He got the fumble on the next play and it ended one of Pittsburgh's last chances to get back in the game. One of my favorite SB moments ever.

And the Slamboree 1997 main event has kinda been forgotten as a fun, feel-good match.
