While it's been years since I could say I enjoyed his writings on movies, he was one of the factors in what got me interesting in taking film seriously. For that, I'll always have a fondness for him.

“We were getting ready to go home today for hospice care, when he looked at us, smiled, and passed away. No struggle, no pain, just a quiet, dignified transition.

"Mad Dog Time is the first movie I have seen that does not improve on the sight of a blank screen viewed for the same length of time. Oh, I've seen bad movies before. But they usually made me care about how bad they were. Watching Mad Dog Time is like waiting for the bus in a city where you're not sure they have a bus line."

Best ever.

Yeah, the Mad Dog Time review is the best ever. I watched that damned movie in full just because of that review.

Rog was great. I probably liked him best in the late 80s/early 90s when S & E dropped the "bad influence on kids" in their reviews and just talked about the work

The Ringer is doing an eight part podcast series on the lives of Siskel & Ebert.

(This seems too targeted to me!)
