I stopped paying attention to these lists around the time they did the last one of these in 2004. I'm not going to take their bait but I am glad Love/Hate cracked the top 10.

Fiona Apple's "Criminal" somehow finished behind "Paper Bag"... get the fuck out. If you were gonna throw a random Fiona song higher, at least go with like "Pale September" or "Slow Like Honey"

I have a whole 350ish songs on my rarely used MP3 player (technophobe Brody), so I'm no music snob, but my personal all-time favorite "Higher Love" by Steve Winwood appears to have failed to make the list :(

I don't even waste the energy to get mad at these lists. It's impossible to serve all masters with these Greatest Songs of All Time lists. Just like what you like and frig the rest.

I don't get mad at these lists but this was seemed particularly egregious in listing specific songs for artists that seemed like Rolling Stone (and its voting bloc) were trying to be overtly hip or above liking a particular hit song that should've placed higher (see my Fiona Apple comment).

Slayer didn't make the list at all. Nas didn't make it with "Ether" or any other hit. Britney's Toxic nearly being 100 spots higher than ...Baby One More Time (and I like Toxic a lot). Alicia Keys' "Fallin" not making it.

I remember back in 8th grade telling people that "Toxic" wasn't even catchy and Britney obviously had fallen off. 14 year old me was way off but it's definitely not SIGNIFICANTLTY better than "Baby One More Time"
