Re: Star Wars Thread: Oh, yeah! I almost forgot! It's not all fun!

Newsflash: George Lucas is now and has always been full of shit. Also, sun to rise in morning.

Oh hell, Lucas said there was going to be 12 films in 1978, 9 in 1979, and after Empire came out, said only 6 and the idea that there were 9 was an invention by the media.

Put enough cash in front of George, and there would be 40 parts.

This isn't as hypothetical as you're making it sound.

Or he'll just sell you the doggone franchise.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: Red Tails

Actually, having just seen a little bit of Red Tails, the acting and reliance on CGI pretty much confirmed that Lucas thought of it as Episode 7.

Thanks Spielberg for that. The studios did want a sequel, but he said no.

They did make a sequel book with ET back on his home planet with his kind. Turns out they're all botanists.

Not to be a shill, but look up the podcast 'Books and Nachos' on itunes. They actually reviewed that book, and it sounds horrible.

So I'm almost finished with The Secret History of Star Wars. George Lucas sounds like a maddening and frustrating person to be around or be friends with.

I would say that's the tip of the iceberg. I wish more people would read that and learn how important his ex-wife was to seventies cinema.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: Red Tails

Zack Snyder is rumored to be devloping a Star Wars movie. Not Episode VII, VIII, or IX but a sidestory loosely based on Kurosawa's Seven Samurai. By loosely based I mean it is the exact same plot only with Jedi Knights.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: Red Tails

As long as some of the Jedi do have emotion. The whole "emotions are bad" thing they got going on would ruin a few of the best characters from Seven Samurai. And it makes the Jedi really, really boring when they are on the screen.

Which one was in Phantom Menace? Not that one.

NJO would be Luke's padawans and what not. Plus there's the ever threatening dark side. I think they could have some emotional Jedi.

He wasn't a Jedi then though. If anything becoming a Jedi hardened him up.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: Red Tails

If anything Luke had a few weeks training between both and the bespin incident, with a flight to the first Death Star for good measure. I'm suprised his gimmick change was complete so quickly.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: Red Tails

According to Shadows of the Empire there's about 2 or three years in between V and VI. He was obviously training on his own as building your own lightsaber isn't easy and is a big part of training.
