Nikola Jokic has coronavirus

He had been out of the country with someone who had it, figured it was coming. I still cannot see this return working.

Andre Drummond will opt in to stay with the Cavs next season. Not gonna lie, I totally forgot that trade even happened

Not surprised. While he has no chance to win, no one else would give him that money. That contract came during his peak/All-Star years and before big men were getting as phased out as they are now.

I would assume part way into that final year that Cleveland will end up buying him out.

An AFL player tested positive for Coronavirus but it should only affect him and one other player due to how they are training now.

Although there is doubt whether he actually has it now. A test on Friday returned a low-grade irregularity, a Saturday test came back positive, then a Sunday test came back negative. Either way, they've managed to keep the season going.

Of course, some MAGA Chuds (if there are any still watching the NBA?) will probably point out that Brogdon was at a bunch of protests.

Four Kings players have coronavirus. They are a playin team so they have to quarantine and test negative a few times before heading to the facilities.

Since that report, Alex Len’s name came out but have not seen others.

Vince Carter officially retires

After MJ retired, he was probably my favorite player for a few years. The athleticism he still had in his 40's was ridiculous. And I will never forget the 2000 Slam Dunk contest. One of the most incredible things I've seen in basketball and one of those moments that will stay with you forever.

The NBA announced that 16 players have tested positive for coronavirus and will be required to self-isolate until they are cleared by a physician.

This is gonna go well...

Especially since Disney says they have no way of making their hotel and venue employees lock down outside of work.

Florida had 9,000+ cases yesterday. I NEVER want to over estimate a big US corporation's willingness to do the right and moral thing but I am starting to have my doubts whether or not this will happen.

Reportedly Jabari Parker and Buddy Hield were also positive

It's interesting seeing some of the other "big guys" who were taken after him as well. Going into the 2013 season, Cleveland had Kyrie at PG and a young Dion Waiters at SG. They'd acquire Luol Deng in a trade to try and help fill in the SF position but they had a surplus of big men: Tristan Thompson was locked in at PF despite not being much of a scorer, Spencer Hawes/Anderson Varejao would combo at Center, and Tyler Zeller was the 17th pick in 2012 by Dallas the year before but acquired via trade to Cleveland.

What also kind of baffles me in general about the NBA is how much teams don't... care about 1st Round picks. Bennett and Andrew Wiggins (taken 1x01 in the 2014 NBA Draft by Cleveland) were both traded to Minnesota. Granted, Cleveland ended up getting Kevin Love but still. As a fan of the NFL, which is predicated on player development related to rookies what the NBA does just seems weird... draft day trades of players taken, dealing high round picks after a year or two in the NBA, etc.

“I had him 10th or 11th (on my board),” one of the above executives said. “It was definitely surprising to most people that he went No. 1, but I talked to a lot of people around the league and felt consensus was fifth to tenth. Typically, that’s still an NBA player. Obviously though, that was wrong.”

I read an article where it says that Bennett was consensus choice for #1 pick by Cavs front office except for Chris Grant who wanted to pick Ben McLemore. It doesn't say what they saw in Bennett though (although it cited his failure to deal with any sort of adversity as main reason why he was a bust).

Ben McLemore still would've been a p. terrible #1 choice that they would've gotten made fun of for at the time (he went #7) and now but at least he wouldn't be consensus worst #1 pick. And he developed into a semi-serviceable bench guy and made a lot more sense with the early 2010s Cavs than Anthony Bennett.

Yeah. Bennett was out of the league after four season. Kandi Man somehow lasted 10 and had a few serviceable seasons in the early '00s. Bennett never had any flashes of competency. Hell, he got a lot of healthy DNPs when he was with the Maine Red Claws 2 or 3 years ago.

Only guy I think compares with Anthony Bennett is LaRue Martin, who was #1 pick in the 1972 draft and was also out of the league in four seasons.

Greg Oden only (barely) played in three seasons but I feel like guys with serious injury issues are in a different category than bums like Bennett, Kandi Man, and LaRue (good R&B group name). Even in '07, I was like "WTH do people think this big oaf should go higher than Kevin Durant?"

(Man, I hope I didn't make any posts in 2013 saying that Celtics were smart to pick Kelly Olynyk over Greek Freak cause I definitely thought that until like 2015)

2013 was like that 2006 class where there wasn’t a true clear cut #1 because the potential guys were small school (CJ) or international, and even Giannis was still a pretty unknown commodity.

In 06, Noah said he wasn’t entering the draft, a lot of attention went to Bargnani, especially when Toronto won the lottery.

People liked Oladipo but not enough for the first pick, I never saw consistent draft boards but due to some of the stuff said here, there was some mock drafts that even had the Cavs taking Alex Len at #1.

Bennett is a guy who may have had a solid career if he was taken mid-lottery and teams could’ve justified having him at the end of the bench but he is definitely given a curse of expectations with that pick.

I forgot about Bargnani IRT terrible #1 picks. He's definitely Top 10 Worst #1 picks although probably towards the bottom of the list since he actually had some "Hey this guy might be good" moments. So below Kandi Man but above Joe Smith on the list.

Kandi man is a lot like Kwame Brown to me where he had a solid career that would’ve not gotten any flack, had they not had the unreal expectations coming with a #1 pick. Felt he was solid enough as a backup with Minnesota and Boston but he has the stigma from all the hype.

I mean, I remember staying up late to see new #1 pick Michael O as the featured guest on an episode of our very own poster’s late night show, THE MAGIC HOUR

I always feel like Olowokandi was on the cusp of turning a corner after 2001 & 2002 when he was getting big minutes and putting up adequate 12-9-2 Blocks a Game type numbers (still obviously not #1 pick level but not worst #1 pick ever level either) and then he signed with Minnesota, his playing time was slashed, and he never really got a chance again. Neither he nor Brown ever really developed enough of a mid-range shot either to be a real threat away from the basket, making them pretty one-dimensional offensively. It's worth noting Kandi's Per 36 was in-line with his 2001/2002 numbers whilst with Minnesota but he simply wasn't getting the 32+ MPG to put up the same numbers.

All the great bigs had a semblance of a shot from the 10-16 foot area, enough to where they could properly post up and do damage: Hakeem shot .436, Robinson shot .384, Shaq early in his career was .360-.375, and Duncan shot .405.

Kwame shot .366 from 3-10 feet and .324 from 10-16 feet. Kandi Man shot .442 from 3-10 feet but a horrendous .294 from 10-16 feet.

The Lakers have signed JR Smith for the rest of the season.

Take that, L.A. Antifa that tried to mess with JR's car!

After seeing Kobe taken in the '90s NBA Draft... was the 1996 NBA Draft the Best Draft ever?

Allen Iverson, Marcus Camby, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Stephon Marbury, and Ray Allen were the Top 5 picks. Antoine Walker went 6. Then 13-15 you had Kobe Bryant, Peja Stojakovic (the Klay Thompson of those Sacramento teams), and Steve Nash go. Jermaine O'Neal went 17th and was a forgotten monster in the early 2000s putting up 20-10-2 seasons like nothing.

It had some of the top end talent of the 1984 Class and was much deeper by a land slide. '84 is known for Hakeem, Jordan, Barkley, and Stockton but I think the group of AI, Allen, Kobe, and Nash could rival that.
