I find it interesting how much of the online conversation has come to be about looting. People haven't worked for two months and have no money. OF COURSE people are going to loot right now. This country has entirely abandoned the unemployed and those without money. All it takes is the right spark and the whole country will be on fire. We are building up to that shit, this is just the first part of it.

The idea that the police just showed up and tossed a woman from her balcony is a little far fetched. This more then anything else should be a conversation about how they deal with mental welfare checkups as that's why they were called to the apartment in the first place. The family that was adamant when this story first broke that she was thrown off has since walked back their claims and admitted that they were out in the hallway and couldn't see into the unit when the altercation took place. I have also read that the family repeatedly asked their landlord to install mesh fencing on the balcony which to me would indicate that they had fears that she would commit suicide.

if you are doing good work, you don't get tired. It is self-fulfilling, but being an asshole is unnatural and takes a lot of out of you which is why these 'enforcers of the law' at the protest sites are losing steam.

Be really interested in seeing how they do this. There's a village pd that closes on Friday at 5 and the LA version "county" takes over their area until Monday morning. They're so Mayberry over there that two of their cruisers got repoed because they didn't make the payments (grant money fell through or some such). I got the red ass for them b/c of a BS ticket a while back, but while I was doing my research I found out they are really crooked but because of home rule charters there's not much that can be done about it. Shame a big city can (hopefully) accomplish reform and the village of 700 people can't fix their own house (or attempt to do so).

BAH GAWD! It almost makes my head spin with how fast reform is happening. Two weeks ago, I would have brushed off the idea of police abolition as a fringe far left view point (not that I disagreed with it but just I thought it would never happen) and now it might actually be happening IRL.

Good, get their asses out. Once cops started resigning to "support" misdeeds of fellow cops, I knew a scenario where you'd see an en-masse resignation would be a possibility. I didn't think it could be as much as 800(!) but I expected instances where you could be seeing 100-200 cops resign.
