I get what you're saying, but those issues are just not relevant right now to the average person. The one issue this time is COVID. There is no ignoring that. The vast majority of Americans will tell you that's the main issue. Most Americans will tell you that the virus needs to be under control. Some will tell you trying to contain the virus is overly restrictive. In that latter group those people will all to a man tell you it doesn't matter. Literally all of them will vote for Trump and were already voting for him because of those other reasons you just mentioned. The election will be entirely split down those lines.
We found out 4 years ago that 46.1% of Americans are virulently racist. Things can change in four years though. People die. People see cops shooting Americans for doing nothing. 2 years ago one party won the House by 10 million more votes in large part because of this. I mean, why do you think the GOP lost the House by that much? Why is there not a single person with any intelligence level saying that the GOP is going to take back the House? I mean, put two and two together.
It's just like gay marriage. People were against that shit until the tide broke. The Tet Offensive is another thing. The Vietnam War was popular until it wasn't. Humphrey was in the incumbent administration, which was swept out of office. This kind of election has happened so many times. Jimmy Carter and Iran too. The oil crisis and hostage crisis both. These sorts of elections used to be more normal. One thing would happen in the election year to completely revolve the campaign around that thing. We just haven't had one of those in the last thirty years and a lot of people aren't used to it. But that's how it always was. We have been fortunate that even when inflicting massive harm around the world in the last thirty years, that none of these things came back onto our shores where we had to deal with it in a meaningful way. COVID is like the worst case of that, like being punished for all the sins and evil we've brought to the rest of the world. By the time we're done more Americans will be dead from COVID than WW2. That's just a fact. If you don't know someone whose been hospitalized or died from COVID you're probably in the minority by now. It was 40% of the country who knew one of those people just a month or so ago.
I mean if you're outright saying that Trump is going to win? Post by how much so that I can laugh at you next week. I'd appreciate it. You live in Green Bay, where 56% of people voted for Trump. The people you know are not reflective of the country. The city I live in is twice the size of yours. Trump got 45% of the vote here and Clinton got 49%. It's a lot more reflective of where the country is actually at. In any case those personal anecdotes don't really mean shit. 137 million people vote for president. Maybe a little more. You ain't really gonna learn anything about the election from anyone you talk to. There were 10-30 million people on the street just a few months ago telling you though.
