Less than a week until WNBA Season Tip-off!

After attending my first WNBA game last year, I told my lesbian friend I would attend more with her this year. The All-Star game is actually here in town this year too, so I was thinking I may try to go, just to have decent seats at an All-Star game. I am tried to tell my buddy that All-Star weekend included a Lay-Up Contest and a Free Throw Shootout and he believed me.

Will this be the year I start following the Connecticut Sun?

No. No, it probably won't be.

(Especially since Mike Gorman doesn't announce their games anymore!)

Surprised Slim didn't start this thread, let alone post in it.

You're surprised I didn't start a thread that's going to be full of you pricks mocking the WNBA?

The Sun are going to suck this year: they're in straight rebuild mode. They tanked for the #1 pick, they traded their best player (former league MVP) for a handful of magic beans, and their second-best player for not much more.

People tank in the WNBA? That's pretty funny. I actually followed the league for the first few seasons, but then the Houston Comets kept dominating everyone and it got old. The Comets don't even exist anymore!

I might give it a shot again this year since I like elements of women's basketball. It is sort of like watching basketball in a time warp since you actually see lots of plays and the action moves at a pace reminiscent of the 1930s or 1940s.

Opening night was last night.

Wheels in motion for me to be in attendance for Mercury home opener tonight. Going to go look for a purple and orange flannel.

I wish!

We all know Siren would win but has had such an ego since making the cover of DeafLife

I'm making my way downtown for pregame now. Not sure how but guessing not shaving my armpits is half the battle

Teams on the floor. Got my free tshirt, several ideas for haircuts and all the dirt on which players have dated each other.

They had a sign language interpreter for the anthem. This is a thread for women's basketball and dead awareness apparently.

Way less crowded than NBA games but crazy loud.

And my boy Ish Smith just walked in to his courtside seats.

Mercury crushing the Storm after 1. Everyone on Phoenix is like a foot taller than Seattle.

Mutombo and Matt Ryan are the resident "celebrity" male Dream fans. Deke can be found at most home games sitting next to the owners, eating popcorn and barking at the refs. Usually only see Ryan until mid-July, or whenever the hell it is that NFL training camp starts.

Also, what the hell did Candace Dupree do to her hair?

In the city for LA/ATL. Mike Scott appears to be the resident "celebrity" male fan. Also, my favorite stat chick is rocking a sweet green diamond-print dress.

Has anyone heard of "actor/comedian" Ricky Smiley? Because I guess he's in the house, too.

Shoni Schimmel has mind control over Britney Griner. Shoes, you aren't at the game, are you?

Nah. I wanted to but my WNBA-lovin friend ended up making other plans, so I had no one to go with. I was super curious about their fan fest the day before.

I did find out my friend's friend is an acquaintance of the best friend of Diana Taurasi's weed dealer. Small world. :)

God damn, Phoenix! Tarausi and Griner just sort of came out in the fourth quarter, and said, "... Well, that's enough of that."

Re: 2014 WNBA SEASON THREAD

Those two "came out" way before that... The funny thing to me is how Phoenix's slogan for the season has been "Chasing Glory."
