I hate being PC and putting up a strong public image as much as the next person, but there's a difference between being candid and being irresponsibly coarse. He's not being real, he's being an asshole.

I will never stop being amazed at the people who can't tell the difference and like this sort of thing. The biases have to be strong.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Shitbag apologists will spin this stuff on the Sunday morning shows. It's downright impossible to rationalize or not go to racism as an explanation for denigrating Puerto Rico in the aftermath of an apocalyptic weather event when no one in Florida or Texas were demeaned at all. If I were the governor of the island I'd tell Shitbag to just stay on the mainland and deny him some photo ops where this waste of carbon can portray himself as a real human being.

The inhuman Republican media are going with the 'Trump hits back!' rationalization for this.

How vulgar. I don't know how anyone can genuinely believe that kind of narrative, but the usual BS "media outlets" which so many believe have already set about trying to discredit and delegitimize the mayor of San Juan.

And of course WHAT ABOUT THEIR EMAILS?? WHAT HATH GOD WROUGHT

It looks like it is going to be the flow charts that Sarah Sanders put out on Twitter about the help and the "accurate timeline".

Love the responses to Trump telling the people of PR not to believe the "Fake News", with many people correctly pointing out there is no power there to consume said "fake news".

I know that Puerto Rico and Vegas are deserving of a lot of attention, but I think Trump is trying to slip this one in under the radar.

http://www.politico.com/story/2017/10/02/trump-white-house-welfare-low-income-executive-order-243376

Looks like the US is getting welfare reform.

Since this is Donald Trump, I don't think this is going to be very nice to the people who can't find a way back to work.

Oh and C.H.I.P. defaulted so now 9 million children are without healthcare. So there's also that.

Whoever your next president is after this shit show is going to need to build from the ground up at this rate.

That shows how little the background information that Shitbag and his handlers feel is important to consider. They're all fucking clowns. Pathetic. How can the United States ever regain respectability after this? Cue the rednecks saying "THEY CAN'T STOP THE WEATHER" and that's right but words matter. Sadly, because this wasn't in the Lower 48 no one will notice and no lasting change will ever take place.

Relief for Texas or Florida was debated in terms of "how much?" while Puerto Rico is given backhanded talk about its natural disaster throwing off budgets. Fucking vile and embarrassing.

According to liberal blogger Bill Palmer, “(P)rotocol says that Trump is the only one who could have made a decision like that, so we know that Trump booted Kelly from the flight. The White House is refusing to publicly address the incident, but others are talking.”

quotes from trump interview with mike huckabee:

On criticism of him tossing paper towels into a crowd of victims: "They had these beautiful, soft towels. Very good towels.... I was having fun, they were having fun. They said, 'throw 'em to me! Throw 'em to me Mr. President!"

On responding to tragedies: "In one sense you hate to see it, but in another sense you feel like you can do a good job, you're helping people, so you feel good."

Mike Pence went to the Colts game. The press were told he was probably leaving early. He watched the protest during the national anthem and walked out.

Easy political points for the nutters.

Yeah. Expensive publicity stunt that the dummy base will rally behind. Meanwhile white supremacists had another march. They killed a woman and injured people last time. But, you know. Kneeling.

Rural Americans responded by supporting Trump over Democratic rival Hillary Clinton by 26 percentage points during the election, an advantage that helped tip the balance in battleground states, such as Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, where Trump won by less than 1 percentage point.

But after 10 months, many are still waiting to see concrete changes that could make life easier in rural America, said Karl Stauber, who runs a private economic development agency serving a patchwork of manufacturing communities in south central Virginia.

Rural people are more cynical about the federal government than people in general are,” Stauber said. “They’ve heard so many promises, and they’ve not seen much done.”

man this is gonna get bad, because these people are finally waking up to the reality that Trump won't do any of the shit they expected him to.

US President Donald Trump has challenged his Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, to an IQ test, in the latest sign of discord between the two.
He made the remark in a magazine interview when asked about reports that Mr Tillerson had called him a moron.
"I think it's fake news," Mr Trump told Forbes, "but if he did that, I guess we'll have to compare IQ tests. And I can tell you who is going to win."
Mr Trump is having lunch on Tuesday with Mr Tillerson.

"With all of the Fake News coming out of NBC and the Networks, at what point is it appropriate to challenge their License? Bad for country!" Mr Trump wrote in a tweet.

There's a claim that General Kelly and Mattis have discussed how to handle Trump if he goes for the nuke football. It boils down to literally tackling him. I feel secure.

Trump spoke at the summit as a presidential candidate in both 2015 and 2016. Other speakers at this year’s event include Steve Bannon and Sebastian Gorka, who both previously worked as advisers to Trump."

https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2017/10/23/the-danger-of-president-pence

“Trump thinks Pence is great,” Bannon told me. But, according to a longtime associate, Trump also likes to “let Pence know who’s boss.” A staff member from Trump’s campaign recalls him mocking Pence’s religiosity. He said that, when people met with Trump after stopping by Pence’s office, Trump would ask them, “Did Mike make you pray?” Two sources also recalled Trump needling Pence about his views on abortion and homosexuality. During a meeting with a legal scholar, Trump belittled Pence’s determination to overturn Roe v. Wade. The legal scholar had said that, if the Supreme Court did so, many states would likely legalize abortion on their own. “You see?” Trump asked Pence. “You’ve wasted all this time and energy on it, and it’s not going to end abortion anyway.” When the conversation turned to gay rights, Trump motioned toward Pence and joked, “Don’t ask that guy—he wants to hang them all!”

Fuck him, he's going after welfare now. It's fucking Nixon with only a thimble of the intelligence (thank goodness). He's already cribbed "law and order" as a label, "welfare queens" will be next.

http://www.politico.com/story/2017/10/16/trump-welfare-reform-243817
Quote
President Shitbag is “looking very, very strongly” at reforming the nation’s welfare system, he told reporters Monday.

“One thing we’re going to be looking at very strongly is welfare reform. That’s becoming a very, very big subject,” the president said during a Cabinet meeting at the White House. “And people are taking advantage of the system, and then other people aren’t receiving what they really need to live, and we think it’s very unfair to them.”

“But some people are really taking advantage of our system from that standpoint, and we are going to be looking very, very strongly, therefore, at welfare reform,” he continued. “It’s gonna be a very big topic under this administration. And it’s started already, and we have a lot of recommendations that we’re going to be making, and you’ll be hearing about them very shortly.”

POLITICO reported earlier this month that Shitbag administration officials are considering an executive order instructing federal agencies to review low-income assistance programs in an effort to make sweeping changes to America’s welfare system.

The White House began circulating a draft order in late September. The draft calls on agencies to review regulations and propose new rules that conform to a broad set of principles, streamline or eliminate duplicative services, set metrics to measure accountability and create greater cooperation with state and local governments.

Shitbag’s proposed fiscal 2018 budget called for a massive reduction in funding for social safety nets, such as food stamps, Social Security disability insurance benefits, and the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program.

I feel like this is one of those issues that'll disappear after a news cycle but it's hard to not take this shit seriously. I'm reminded of when Dubya had already gone off and invaded Iraq with utter impunity and I freaked out every time they talked about a new country which was being perceived as a problem, thinking it would be some new sweeping military action. I remember once exclaiming "oh boy, Syria's next!"

What's interesting is how this is framed. Saying "those who deserve help will get it" will gain support amongst his white "I tried to apply for Medicaid but I make too much money!" base. It's a really significant portion of the population here in the poorer South where white poverty is rampant and never discussed. Trump's base lives paycheck-to-paycheck and in debt as well, most likely. Convincing them that gutting programs meant to help them, will help them, has already been done through public health and education policy, let's start completely eviscerating the lower classes now. Fuck you consumer pond scum, we only need your votes to keep up the appearance you run things every now and then.

Yes, the recently released Taliban prisoners assumed that the news of President Shitbag's election had to be their captors trying to fuck with them.
