2016: The debt is out of control!

2017: We need a lot more debt!

https://www.yahoo.com/news/republicans-cut-social-security-medicare-230021453.html

Florida Senator Marco Rubio admits that the Republican tax cut plan to aid corporations and the wealthy will require cuts to Social Security and Medicare to pay for it.

Rubio told reporters this week that in order to address the federal deficit, which will grow by at least $1 trillion if the tax plan passes, Congress will need to cut entitlement programs such as Social Security. Advocates for the elderly and the poor have warned that entitlement programs would be on the chopping block, but this is the first time a prominent Republican has backed their claims.

https://www.politico.com/story/2017/12/06/trump-impeachment-vote-fail-282888

A vote for impeachment went up today that even the Democrats didn't support.  Pretty silly to do it now and not wait for more damning reasons in order to avoid being labeled a "witch hunt".  Now the talking heads will have ammo that the Dem "extremists" are determined to get rid of Trump and the (future) charges are from whiners who can't accept the will of the American people.

70% of Americans think they should investigate Trump's sexual assault accusations.

Just 39 percent of Republicans say they think Congress should look into the allegations against Trump, compared to 86 percent of Democrats who feel the same way. Another 67 percent of registered Independents polled agreed Congress should look into the allegations.

The disparity is pretty damning and it's pretty sickening in some ways that 61% of Republicans don't want Congress to look into a dude who's been derogatory towards women for years and 95% probability has multiple sexual assault acts against him.

You can't sexually assault someone as long as you say the right things about Jesus. Hell Trump really hasn't, but at least he isn't that Kenyan Muslim Dictator.

There's plenty of speculation in DC about whether President Trump might fire special counsel Robert Mueller. But Mike Allen of Axios reports on another strategy being explored by the president's legal team: Appoint a second special counsel to investigate Mueller's investigation.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/12/12/politics/trump-tweet-sexual-misconduct-russia/index.html

Trump delivered the below tweet at Gillibrand after she called for his ousting.

"Lightweight Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a total flunky for Chuck Schumer and someone who would come to my office "begging" for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything (HQ e.g. sexual favors obvs implied) for them), is now in the ring fighting against Trump. Very disloyal to Bill & Crooked-USED!," Trump tweeted.

Gillibrand, who an aide said was in a morning Bible study session when Trump posted his message, responded shortly after, tweeting: "You cannot silence me or the millions of women who have gotten off the sidelines to speak out about the unfitness and shame you have brought to the Oval Office."

According to Federal Election Commission documents, Trump donated $4,800 to Gillibrand for Senate in 2010 and $2,100 to Gillibrand Victory Fund in 2007. A source close to Gillibrand said the senator did visit Trump in his office in 2010, and noted that his daughter, Ivanka Trump, was there the entire time.

Somehow... that doesn't seem like sexual favors to me. Political favors, sure... but sexual... I don't know.

That's what is hurting my brain so much about this because Trump doesn't have any subtlety at all. He's a guy who talked about getting Mitt Romney on his knees as he stood before him... and then made a face like he was about to fellate the microphone he was speaking into. The way he framed this tweet gives everyone on all sides something they want. His shithead supporters get to laugh at people like Elizabeth Warren inadvertently calling Gillibrand a slut. Most of the media gets to be outraged and a little bit of morale is chipped away at even more.

So when this dies down a bit and he eventually speaks about this I expect him to imply the same things he did about Mitt Romney... just so he can get a little more of a dopamine hit off the media reaction.

Apparently Omarosa tried getting into the White House to try pleading to keep her job. The alarms went off and that was the straw that made them actually fire her, but are trying to make it seem like she's leaving on her own.

This administration is so dumb.

It doesn't.  It's a scam to make the rich richer.  We know this from history.  We know this from Reagenomics.  People are either willfully ignorant, stupid, dumb, shitheads, liars, or all of the above.  IT DOESN'T WORK.  FUCK YOU.

And since we have the most willfully ignorant, stupid, dumb, shithead liar in chief......THIS TIME IT WILL WORK.  BIGGEST GREATEST CHRISTMAS TO MERICA

So I feel at first that the middle class (like me) will really enjoy this tax bill because they'll take home more on their paychecks.

It seems it's really designed to help the rich, but it doesn't appear to be hurting my paycheck directly.....yet. But you know I'll enjoy having a larger paycheck when the deficit is out of control and the economy collapses!

Isn't the verbiage of the tax bill specifically set up so that working class people won't get the biggest kick in the nuts until Year 8 of the bill? So that, when the economy goes to shit, the Republicans can blame the (presumably Democrat) next administration, and the rubes/racists that put the current administration in office won't know any better?

We're gonna have to pay for these tax cuts in the future. Nothing good will come of this unless you're an old millionaire who will die before they have to raise taxes on everyone. It's inevitable they put the top rate back at 50%, but everyone else's are going to go up too.

Donald Trump is hemorrhaging support among the American people, and now more than 40 percent of them think it's time to start the process to impeach him, a new poll finds. The number is higher than the percentage of Americans who said they planned to vote for the president in the 2020 election.

Like CNN will say "new poll. President Trump reaches new lows per CNN poll!" Aren't all the people that would take a CNN poll naturally going to be against Trump?

Also the most frustrating thing is to read Trump and his minions saying this will lead to new jobs and growth then immediately read surveys done with CEOs who basically say they'll be using the money for bigger stock buybacks.

The polls that CNN and the like use aren't actually conducted by CNN (most times) but by other supposedly non-bias parties. So it isn't just them doing it.

Just if you watch TV, they'll say the name once and it is done in a blink and you'll miss it type of way.

Bill Clinton met with Putin during Hillary's Uranium One deal making process.

https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2017/12/bannon-for-president-trump-kushner-ivanka

Quote
Bannon believed the Russia collusion case was meritless, but he blamed Kushner for taking meetings during the campaign that gave the appearance the Trump team sought Putin’s help. “He’s taking meetings with Russians to get additional stuff. This tells you everything about Jared,” Bannon told me. “They were looking for the picture of Hillary Clinton taking the bag of cash from Putin. That’s his maturity level.”

Bannon's story is Trump's team was just digging for more dirt to bury Hillary with.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/elections/everything-you-need-know-about-2018-midterm-elections-n832226

WASHINGTON — In every midterm election since the Civil War, the president's party has lost, on average, 32 seats in the House and two in the Senate.

In next year's battles, Democrats need only 24 seats to flip the House and two to take the Senate.

"History says we're going to lose the majority," said Cory Bliss, the executive director of the Congressional Leadership Fund, a major Republican super PAC. "Our job is defy history."Play

FacebookTwitterEmbed
"There's a lot of buyer's remorse out here," said Tim Waters, the political director of the Pittsburgh-based United Steelworkers union. "People have gone out of their way to give these guys a chance, and it just hasn't paid off."
But the GOP majorities are defended not just by incumbency and super PACs, but by structural advantages in both chambers.

In the Senate, the battleground offers far more liabilities than opportunities for Democrats because the 33 states in play next year are redder than average.

And in the House, Democrats will need to win the popular vote by an especially wide margin to overcome GOP gerrymandering and Democrats' own natural geographic handicap. That basically means Democrats can't take the chamber without a landslide.

There are so many rosy data points for House Democrats it's hard to know where to begin. Democratic challengers are out-fundraising, out-polling and out-recruiting both their own records and their GOP incumbents, 32 of whom have already decided to retire rather than run for re-election (compared to 16 Democrats). With control of the chamber — and the potential impeachment of the president that could come with it — on the line, the House will upstage its big brother in the Senate this time around

“I have absolute right to do what I want to do with the Justice Department,” he said, echoing claims by his supporters that as president he has the power to open or end an investigation. “But for purposes of hopefully thinking I’m going to be treated fairly, I’ve stayed uninvolved with this particular matter.”

Quote
Mr. Trump disputed reports that suggested he does not have a detailed understanding of legislation, saying, “I know the details of taxes better than anybody. Better than the greatest C.P.A. I know the details of health care better than most, better than most.”

Later, he added that he knows more about “the big bills” debated in the Congress “than any president that’s ever been in office.”
