So do I ask for an X-Box One S bundle for Christmas or the Amazon X-Box One bundle with a free game download? It's $50 cheaper than the One S bundles.
I watched RAW. I thought it sucked. The usual problems and such.

December's Games With Gold are fucking boss:

- Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition (Dec 1-31)
- Outlast (Dec 16 - Jan 15)
- Outland (360) (Dec 1 - 15)
- BURNOUT MUTHAFUCKIN PARADISE (360) (Dec 16 - 31)

I played SO MUCH Paradise it isn't funny.  It was the first game I played online on 360.

All three Mass Effect games will be backwards compatible since they are adding 2 and 3 today.  Time to play through 2 again, I guess.

I would play through all three, but the first just does not hold up.

I got a One S with Gears 4 for Christmas.  I swear this thing downloaded at half the speed something downloads on my PS4.
I watched RAW. I thought it sucked. The usual problems and such.

That's weird. I routinely hit 40-50 mbps on my XBONE S, but I only hits 2-3 on my PS3 and 4 on a good day.

I get 45-50 on ps4 and my XBone never got above 27 and dropped to 800 kbps a few times.

I had one glitch early in the game that was super frustrating, but it eventually went away and I haven't had any since. I need to get back to it though, I got to the second area outside the mall and got kinda bored with it. People complain all over the internet about how its not "true Dead Rising" because they got rid of the time limit and the escort missions but fuck em I'm glad that shit's gone. It was really annoying and made me rage quit DR1 a couple months ago.

I don't think Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime has ever been free, unless I missed a PC giveaway or something.

Just remembered. It came free with the purchase of an xbox live card on Black Friday at Walmart. So it was free, but not in the way I was remebering. Fun game

Zenimax awarded $500 million in Oculus infringement/theft suit: http://www.polygon.com/2017/2/1/14474198/oculus-lawsuit-verdict

Carmack of course disagrees and still denies wiping his drives:
https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1913546895546485&id=100006735798590

Zenimax came back with a direct response: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/290678/Zenimax_vs_Oculus_Carmack_denies_allegations_slams_expert_analysis.php

Quote
"In addition to expert testimony finding both literal and non-literal copying, Oculus programmers themselves admitted using Zenimax’s copyrighted code (one saying he cut and pasted it into the Oculus SDK), and [Oculus VR co-founder] Brendan Iribe, in writing, requested a license for the 'source code shared by Carmack' they needed for the Oculus Rift. Not surprisingly, the jury found Zenimax code copyrights were infringed. The Oculus Rift was built on a foundation of Zenimax technology."

"As for the denial of wiping, the Court’s independent expert found 92 percent of Carmack’s hard drive was wiped—all data was permanently destroyed, right after Carmack got notice of the lawsuit, and that his affidavit denying the wiping was false. Those are the hard facts."

Pretty interesting case all in all. Hopefully a good chunk of that settlement goes toward the Elder Scrolls VI. ;)
You should probably put your bandit hat on now.

Xbox Game Pass is coming this spring. Access to "over 100 games"—cycling in and out—for $10/month.

This is definitely the first year I wish I had a PS4 because XBox has had nothing exclusive to speak of while PS4 has Yakuza, Horizon and Switch has Zelda.  I really hope E3 brings news of titles I want to play because I may end up getting a Switch or PS4 in the fall instead.

Yeah. I bought the One because I loved my 360. Wish I would have saved the money. Other than Dead Rising 3 (fun) and 4 (total mess) there's nothing exclusive here for me. Sony is killing Microsoft with exclusives. Thankfully I have a PS4 (gift). I would have hated being all in on XB1

The backwards compatibility is really nice to have, but I've only bought one 2017 release so far (ME: Andromeda) and it feels like I've missed out on a really good gaming year so far since it's the only platform I own.

I thought that backwards compatibility would be a big deal for me. But I found that I just don't revisit games after I finish them anymore. Just no time.

There's a handful of games I never played (Forza Horizon 1), so I like BC. I have more BC games than current gen.

Anybody play Cuphead yet?  It might make me actually turn on my XBone for something other than a PPV again.  I can't believe they're releasing basically a new console with one whole new game (Forza 7) to support it.  I can't think of one other exclusive now that Crackdown got pushed.

I haven't done the Xbox Pass but if it is anything like the EA Access, as I think it is, seems worth it.  I have had EA Access for a few years and pleased with the $30/year for that.

I don’t think £7.99 a month for the quality of games is justified. The ea pass is £20 a year which is a lot better.

If you want to try Game Pass, it's $1 for 1 month, for the next week or so. The current list of games is down the page here:

https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2018/01/23/xbox-game-pass-expands/

"Moving forward, we plan to release all new Xbox One exclusive games from Microsoft Studios into Xbox Game Pass on the same date as their global release. This means that when Sea of Thieves launches on March 20, it will be included in Xbox Game Pass to all members.

This plan to bring new games timed with their global release into Xbox Game Pass not only includes announced titles like Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2 and Crackdown 3 but future unannounced games from Microsoft Studios including new iterations of our biggest Xbox One exclusive franchises such as Halo, Forza and Gears of War, on the same day they launch."

I just got an Xbox One, I barely play video games. My computer can't play the newest Football Manager (graphics card is utter shit and integrated so I can't upgrade it). I was gonna buy a new computer but then I was like meh...lemme get a console. Since I basically wanna just play Fifa and WWE, and I don't have a 4K TV yet, I just went with the cheapest thing which was an Xbox One S. I figured I'd get the Game Pass and EA Access and that would allow me to try out new games and see if there's other stuff out there that I, a casual gamer to say the least, would enjoy. My last console was a ps3 I had when it launched, but then neglected to buy games for and now is just a cat sleeping hub.

Honestly with graphic cards in high demand and high prices, buying a Xbox was a good decision.

Yeah, I took that into consideration. Mining is only getting more popular too so whatever cheap computer I was able to find would be virtually impossible to upgrade in a year or two when it inevitably became obsolete again.

I'm liking the Xbox One so far. I think the controls/controller is much easier to adapt to than the Playstation. I had an Xbox 360 for about a year, many years ago, and I forgot how much I prefer their controller. But having never played a WWE 2k game, I'm finding that shit impossible to grasp. I'm like "I have to slide the L stick around AND press A and then hold X until I get them up and then rapidly tap Y while pressing the R stick down???" It's so fucking confusing it's like a math equation. Fifa, on the other hand, is very intuitive and within one game, with no walk-through, I was having fun. Totally understand how people that don't even like soccer can enjoy playing that game.

I want to know who at Microsoft pissed off the major game companies because Sony absolutely kills them on their free game selection throughout the year. Like, it's either that (which seems most plausible, despite my Xbox fanboyism) or the fact that Xbox lets you own the games if your Xbox Live subscription ends while Sony is essentially letting you "rent" the game and once your PSN sub runs out, you lose access to the game.

As far as I’m aware access to the free games dies when you’re no longer gold.

Xbox 360 games, you get to keep.

Xbox One games depend on an active XBL Gold subscription—same as all "free" games from PlayStation Plus.

I feel like I've gotten better free games out of Gold than PS Plus. I feel like PS Plus is always some indy game I don't want to play.
