Yeah, I showed a co-worker who plays my Warlock and he had the same reaction. I've got a purple machine gun as well while the Sniper is a variant of the "Final Boss" that you can buy.

It really all came from the cave.. My crpytarch rank is over 9 right now, which I've heard helps in getting higher drops

Spent a couple of hours at the cave tonight.  Ton of blue engrams, nothing legendary, which pissed me off since someone joined the firing line for a couple of passes and got a legendary after like 2 minutes.  That's the perils of random loot drops though I guess.  Then, when I picked up my bonuses for increasing my cryptarch level, all of THEM were blue.  Assholes.

I won't run short of weapon parts or plasteel any time soon though.

I feel a bit better now.  Advanced my cryptarch level and went to pick up my stuff from the mailbox and got three legendary engrams.  Got two blues and an exotic missile launcher.

In better news, they will be fixing the loot next week. Purple engrams will correspond to purple and blue to blue. They are also adding legendary items to daily and weekly missions to increase incentive to do them.

This exotic (yellow) sniper rifle dropped for me int he Vanguard Tiger stike play list last night.   ;D ;D ;D

It uses it's own "battery" instead of green ammo, so once you use the clip, you just need to wait a few seconds for it to recharge. So awesome!

That's pretty cool. I got the automatic remote shotgun the same way. The only thing I don't like about it is that it replaces my primary weapon so it makes it more of a crucible only weapon. Hard to navigate strikes or large waves of enemies with a shotgun/sniper combo. I've finished a few daily missions with it but I die far more frequently. Just trying to level it all the way up to make it an untouchable PvP weapon.

Yeah, that's it. Got automatic and universal mixed up, whoops. I also bought the Sunbreakers gauntlets from Xur this weekend during his sale so I have my two exotics equipped.

Two weeks ago, I picked up this, for my Titan, from Xur: http://destiny.wiki.fextralife.com/Crest+of+Alpha+Lupi+(Titan)

Really great exotic chest armor that speeds up your revival (both give and receive).

This past week, I picked up the exotic engram and ended up with something for the Hunter I just started: http://destiny.wikia.com/wiki/Achlyophage_Symbiote

Gives you an extra shot with Golden Guns! :D

The rate of purples I'm getting as rewards from strike playlists is also increasing. I almost have an entire set of legendary gear for a Warlock if I ever decide to create one.

Well, since no one else has bothered, I'll go ahead and bounce this back to the top in honor of "The Dark Below" expansion.  Mostly more of the same, although beating up on Husks is fun, and there's a lot of them in here.  Interesting bit was when I was running around the moon doing bounties, had a Blade of Crota run out of the building that's to the left of the starting area instead of the usual Fallen.  Being prone to violence, I take him and his followers out, and what should drop but a "Husk of the Pit".  Looking at it, it's a shitty auto rifle that has very little impact but is basically a spray and pray weapon.  However, after reading up on it it's actually a fun sounding little weapon that you can evolve up to a legendary and eventually an exotic called the "Necrochasm".  Of course, to get there you'll have to hope that a certain item drops from the new raid on Hard mode, which won't even be available for another couple of weeks at least.  Still though, I'm glad Bungie is embracing the grinding even more, and look forward to many many hours of blasting away space zombies.

In case anyone is still playing this:

New DLC drops May 19th. I'd already payed for it when I bought my copy of the game, so I'm going to at least stick around for that. I actually like the idea of the Arena instead of a Raid, should be fun. Hopefully adds some much needed variety to the game as I haven't really played it in a couple months just due to the repetitiveness of it all.

I picked it up for $20.  Enjoying it so far, but the presentation feels so....dry?  It's like Borderlands with all the personality sucked out.

It's really fucking pathetic that the most story advancement in the game happens in the opening FMV. I got intrigued by the story when they showed a clip at E3 last year. Imagine my disappointment when it turned out that clip was the opening FMV and there isn't shit for story after that. But at least it mixed up the missions by having you activate something and then fight off a swarm of enemies while Peter dinklage does something, having you activate something and then fight off a swarm of enemies while Peter Dinklage  bot does something, and having you activate something and then fight off a swarm of enemies while Peter Dinklage  bot does something.
I want Jimmy Fallon to be dead. That doesn't make me a bad person.

I played Destiny way too much for how little content there was, but there was something sticky about it. People seem to love this new mode, Trials of Osiris, so there's that. I think Destiny 2 will probably be a pretty dope game, seems like they've worked some of the kinks out.

Problem is, they sold the game like a traditional awesome game with an epic story and all it really was was an MMO with guns and as we all know, the story isn't always given first priority there.

Same.  Actually, it's more "I don't have a lot of spare time, yet I..."  I don't know why, I just do.  It's going to be worse when I pick up Elder Scrolls in a couple of hours, and the multiplayer for Dragon Age STILL chews up a lot of my gaming time.  I'm actually kind of glad The Division got pushed back to next year, there's no way I could split my time between everything.

I think they are on the right track with the content and mechanics for the game. House of Wolves was a million times more fun than the Crota DLC. That being said, they really do need to get their shit together on the story. I feel like they think they can get away with this shit because it's a shooter at it's core and no one ever pays attention to shooter stories (outside of Borderlands anyway).

But, as CV says above, ESO has taken my time away from every other game now. All hail our Bethesda overlords.

Taken King drops tomorrow.. here are a list of the major changes in the game for v2.0. Story aside, it's moving in the right direction. Kinda re-hyped for this..

Spoiler: show
Update 2.0.0 - The one to prepare for Oryx.
This update begins Destiny Year Two. It contains sweeping changes that will impact the way we all play. Prepare for the arrival of The Taken King.

Player Character
Character Level Cap raised to 34 for all players
Your Character Level will be grandfathered into your highest possible Light Level from all gear in your inventory and vault

Character Level and Light are now separate stats
Light is now calculated by the average of the Attack and Defense scores of all your gear

Grimoire Score has been moved from the Character Nameplate and now displays in the Character Screen
Attack Power values on weapons and gear have been renormalized in preparation for the Taken King
Year 1 Attack and Defense values caps have been renormalized for Year 2 (previously 365 Attack is now 170 Attack)
All Defense values are now on the same scale as Attack
Weapon damage numbers and combatants have been scaled against renormalized Attack and Defense values

Cool little "build your own trailer" for The Taken King, and it includes some pretty cool stats for your character.  Found out I'm in the top 4% of guardians with a longest kill distance of over 1,400 meters.

Managed to play a bit when I got home from work this morning.  Pretty awesome so far.  Presentation is COMPLETELY different, with actual lead in cut scenes, post mission cut scenes, and missions that link directly into one another.  Quest log is pretty handy, and you can actually track them to so you know where to go next.

I had an almost full group of bounties, including 3 5000 xp ones, when I got the Stormcaller class for my Warlock.  Turn them all in, and go straight to 2/3'rds of the way through 38.  I'm kinda disappointed the level cap is 40, it's going to feel more like a grind again, going over stuff with no tangible reward.  Especially when you consider that TTK content starts at level 25, it's a bit underlevelled so far.  Should have started at 30 IMO.

So there is no way to JUST buy The Taken King?  You have to get the bundle with everything else?

That's a giant load of bullshit if that's the case.

It says its unavailable on its own on the XBone store (and PSN apparently) and you have to buy the $80 "Digital Deluxe" version with everything else.

Fuck right off with that.  At least bundle all the DLC together and don't make me rebuy a game I already fucking have.  Every other developer has figured this shit out already.

I bought it off the PSN by itself digitally, so it is available there. Looking through the Xbone website, I don't see it solo though. May need to look around the shop through your One, maybe it's offered but not listed on the site for some reason. Can't imagine they'd piss off so many people THAT intentionally.

So I played this for a few months, quit before the first expansion even came out.

From everything I'm reading, it's a lot of fun right now. What do you think, is it worth jumping back in? I see that a lot of the legendaries that people were slaving for are now obsolete so I won't have to worry about not having the right gear, at least.

I don't know man. I bought it on it's own on the PSN store for $39. I checked last night and it's still there.

Well, with the new leveling system I started up with my vanilla Destiny guardian at level 28. I had all legendary and exotic gear on him but found green gear with better stats within 20 minutes for everything but my Sunbreaker gauntlets. I did the entire Dark Below storyline and now I'm going through the House of Wolves campaign. Looks like the really fun stuff is in the Taken King stuff but I'm in no rush, I guess.

I figured out that on XBone ypu can only get Taken King alone if you own the base game AND the expansions.  Which is still bullshit.  Why can't they just offer the expansions and Taken King together?  Isn't that what most people who come back to the game are going to get?

They do...that's essentially what the 'Legendary Edition' or whatever it's called is. Yes, it comes with the base game as well. But the Taken King alone is 40 bucks. So when you buy the legendary you're essentially getting TDB and HOW for 20 bucks.

What are you asking exactly, to just be able to buy all 3 for 50?

edit- (Which, technically you could buy them alone without buying the base game again. And just buy the expansion I/II double pack for 35. And then Taken King for 40. But I'd imagine most would just rather spend $60...If you have one anywhere near you I'd look into Best Buy's Game Club Unlocked program. 20% off all new games. So I just rebought a physical copy, of TTK for 47, then offloaded my original Destiny for 20 bucks. )

Quest system on the Taken King is awesome.

Well, the raid lasted a whole 7 hours before the first group beat it.  Debating if i should watch it or not.

Was doing the Three of Coins trick on "The Winter Kell" to farm exotics, and the method does work.  Got two copies of "The Stag" (Warlock helmet), a better set of "The Impossible Machines" (Warlock gloves) then the ones I bought from Xur, and Telesto, a fusion rifle which fires bolts that do stick to the target and explode, causing a bit of splash damage.  Plus, it looks pretty cool.

Decided to dive back in since the sequel is coming in September. I had only finished up to halfway through the 3rd expansion.. and, wow, so much has changed. They still don't have matchmaking for raids, but everything else seems to be set up perfectly to the point where I am even having fun doing the daily repeater quests. Also, I don't know what happened, but for some reason I am much better at PVP/competitive matches. Either I got better or everyone else just sucks now. ;)

So far I feel like 2 is creating a better story and emotional impact. Feels similar but like a more fully realized game.

Hit level 6 last night. A lot of my PSN friends list seem to be at 20 already but I'm slow-walking it to enjoy the scenery along the way. The flow of things out on the field is much more organic and the game really benefits from it. Flowing from an Adventure mission to finding a Lost Sector and then a Public Event just feels so much more natural than Destiny 1.

The overall game is just much more slick and smooth in it's presentation as well. Probably a side-benefit of not having to launch on last-gen consoles.

My IRL friends got to be friends with a bunch of guys playing Friday the 13th and we all ended up joining in their clan on Destiny 2.

It's been amazing for me. Finished the Nightfall last week and last night I had the privilege of being carried through the Leviathan raid. First time I ever have even been able to attempt a raid and we finished it. I was so stressed out during the boss fight because one mistake can lead to a party wipe, but we finally got it done. Probably one of the best things I've done playing games.
