Spoiler: League Rules • show

Quote from: Fantasy League Rules

    A. Teams can select a maximum of SIX keepers of any position.

    B. Teams can choose to keep less than SIX keepers.

    C. All keepers must be turned in by 1 day after Super Bowl is over at midnight Pacific Standard Time.

    D. Teams will lose a draft pick in the forthcoming draft corresponding to the round each of their keeper selections were drafted in.

(Example: Adrian Peterson is chosen as a keeper and he was drafted in the first round of the previous draft. Team will not select a first round pick in the next draft because Peterson will be that team's guaranteed player for the first round in the draft.)

    E. If a team wants to keep an undrafted player as a keeper, than that undrafted player has the draft value and keeper designation in the following draft of a final round selection, Round 15.

(Example: If a team wants to keep three players chosen as undrafted free agents, then in the following draft these keepers will act as their draft picks in rounds 13, 14, and 15.)

    F. If a player chosen as a keeper was drafted by another team and acquired via trade or as a free agent, the team choosing the keeper will lose the corresponding round pick that the player was drafted in.

(Example A: If a team trades for Marcus Mariota, who was drafted in round three, and wants him as a keeper then Mariota will act as their third round draft pick in the following draft.)
(Example B: Sammy Watkins is drafted in round three and then dropped, probably due to injury. Then another team picks him up out of the free agent player pool and declares him a keeper, the team keeping Watkins will have a draft value of Round 3 for the following draft not a Round 15 value like an undrafted free agent would.)

    G. If more than one keeper was drafted in the same round, than one of the keepers will be slotted in the following round. However his draft round value doesn't change. He is just slotted into the following round.

(Example: A team wants to keep Mariota and Watkins who was acquired via trade, and both players were selected in round three of the draft. In the following draft Mariota will be that teams keeper for round 3 and Watkins for round 4.)

    H. Keepers can be kept for 3 years at their original draft value. After 3 years three rounds would be deducted from their value. This would happen each year until the player would eventually be worth a first round draft pick.

(Example: Ryan Tannehill has a draft value of 14. Once three years are up, he would have a draft value to start the fourth season of 11. If kept for the fifth season, he would have a value of 8. If kept for a sixth season, he would have a value of 5. If kept for the seventh season, he would have a value of 2. If kept again, he would have a value of 1 and that value would remain constant until Tannehillis no longer kept.)

    I. Draft picks can be traded at any point during the season, off-season, and during the draft. In this league, the amount of draft picks DO NOT have to balance on each side of the trade. If the trade occurrs DURING the fantasy regular season, at least 1 player must be included on each side of the draft to complete the transaction.

(Example: Team A trades Matt Stafford and a 13th and 14th Round Draft Pick to Team B for Matt Forte and a 1st Draft Pick. This is a legal trade.)

    J. After the Fantasy Championship matchup has ended, the trade deadline period will be lifted. Trading can again commence. Managers must post in the Fantasy Football thread any trade and both managers involved in the trade must confirm the trade is true before it is validated.

    K. During the draft, a manager has 12 hours to complete a draft pick. The time starts immediately following the previous selection OR the previous manager hitting their time limit. This is subject to change if we are strating to run behind on time to complete the draft.

    L. If you draft a guy without stats for the prior regular season during the draft that is a Rookie BEFORE the Yahoo! player pool is posted, and he is not in the player pool by the END of the draft, you lose that player as a draft pick and any rights to that player AND will be forced to select someone from the remaining undrafted players ONCE the draft is completed.

    M. The winner of the Consolation playoff bracket will be awarded the prize of #1 Overall Draft pick. This prize is an additional draft pick. If you have a round 1 value keeer, it will still be slotted in round 1. If you have two or more round 1 value keepers, they will follow standard keeper rules of being stacked and slotted in subsequent rounds. If you have zero round 1 keepers, than you will have two picks in round one. You will have the first overall pick PLUS your regularly slotted draft pick based on end of regular season standings.

    N. Draft Format & Benchwarmer Auction. Draft will be 15 rounds. After the draft is complete we'll fill out the remainder of your 20 man rosters through a Free Agent Acquisition Budget Waiver. We'll call this the Benchwarmer Auction. The Benchwarmer Auction will take place on yahoo, just the same as we do each week during the regular season for the FAAB waiver process of free agents. Each team will get $100 to spend on filling up the remainder of their roster. If you completely fill your roster through the Benchwarmer Auction, you'll get a bonus $50 for your regular season FAAB budget. So make sure you put in enough claims so that you're at least ensured your extra money. Any unused cash from the Benchwarmer Auction will not roll over to the regular season. So don't be cheap. If you are trading draft picks, the number of draft picks involved on each side do not have to be balanced. So it is possible to end the 15 Round draft with more or less than 15 players.

    O. New managers have two options to start their team. New managers are placed in order of first to express interest get first shot at potential exiting teams available as outlined in option B.

Option A: New managers can start fresh with a brand new team with no keepers. The managers will be entered in the early seeding draft lottery to determine draft pick seeding. They will be seeded before the team with the worst regular season record.

Option B: New managers have the option of taking over ownership of a team which has it's owner quit the league. By selecting this option, managers will have the draft seeding in which the previous owner would receive by its end of season standings placement, like all other managers. The players on that team would follow all preset keeper values that the previous manager had. Keepers will follow all previous rules and values. Essentially all that is happening to the pre-existing team is a change in ownership.

    P. These rules are subject to review and revision after the season is over and prior to the start of drafting at the discretion of the league and the commissioner.

Needless to say I'm back.

Please confirm you're back and look at your keepers so I don't have to bother with sending out a million messages.

A mod can unpin the old thread and pin this one.

I'm also back, keepers are correct in the first post (until I overthink the sixth player and change it to my detriment). Can't wait to make some noise again and go the distance now that my boys have seen a Semi-Final run!

Is the draft order already set up? I may want to send out offers to try and move up in the draft and snag players who are left behind by departing members.

Not yet, the draft grid won't be setup until after the keeper deadline.

Willing to give this a try if there's space available.

The 1st spot is yours. IF everyone comes back, you'll inherit BZ's team. If we have other drop by the wayside and need more new managers, we'll probably do a small New Manager's Draft before the actual draft for the new manager's to select keepers.

If we don't get 2 new managers, we'll be contracting down to 18 teams for this season.

Still waiting on hearing from Edwin. If I don't hear anything by the 1st I'm considering his team open as well.

Update:

Tentative draft order is up! Keepers have not be removed from the yahoo pool yet. I will post again when that happens in a few days. I'm waiting for a few things on yahoo to be completed before I do that.

We're going from 20 teams to 18 teams.  We couldn't get 1 more new team, so it made finding a temp owner for MFer's team a moot point.

Richard will be the new team owner. With contracting that will cause some changes. Typically we would have him assume ownership of 1 of the teams. This year he's going to benefit and assume ownership of all 3. However he can only select a maximum of 2 keepers from each of the rosters. This will give him a nice jump start at assembling a team that might not be terrible the first year. We've all had years to assemble our squads, no matter how abysmal or dominant some are at this moment. This will allow a little bit of catch up for him.

Since this is a pretty awesome perk for him, he'll be seeded last in every round of the draft. Serpentine draft rules won't apply. Every round last. A small price to pay for getting far superior keepers by hybriding the pool together. This should eliminate any possible flack of him getting an advantage.

Once he selects his keepers, the unkept players return to the free agent draft pool. There won't be any trading available for his unkept players. Again small price to pay for what options he'll have available to him. If he wants to trade players he selects as keeper for draft picks, he will be allowed to do that.

So with that, I'll wait for his selections.
Draft will start as scheduled on the forum here on July 17th.

This section of this post is mainly for Richard. After each player name below you will see a Round and a Year. This is that players value in which if kept, he will be placed in that spot in the draft grid. If a player is Round 2 - Year 2. It means that if he is kept, he will take the place of your Round 2 selection. The year designation indicates how long the player has been kept at that value. After a 3rd year players get more pricey to keep. You can stack multiple keepers with the same round value. For instance if you kept, two Round 1 players, two Round 2 players, one Round 4 player, and one Round 15 player, the picks would consume your draft picks in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 15th Round. That might sound terrible, by not having early round picks but it is a pretty standard strategy. Typically only awful teams that are trying to rebuild have 1st round picks, like my team! [No offense other 1st round drafters] Since you're not familiar with the talent available in our draft, it's typically older players, unproven younger players, and rookies. My suggestion is keep the players you feel are the best that if you so choose you can trade for players or additional draft picks. Regardless if you determine it's all WRs, all QBs, all RBs, just keep the best players, and if you end up with a surplus, trade them for draft picks or players on other rosters after the draft. I'd also suggest avoiding keeping defensive players unless they are very cheap, Round 15, and are beasts, JJ Watt.

Yeah dude, this league fucking rules and any time I describe it to people their mind is blown. HOW MANY TEAMS!? FUCKING KEEPERS!? IDP!?

Even when I suck it's goddamn fantasy boot camp and makes me better in every other league. I'm JACKED to have the first pick of the 4th round! I feel like I haven't picked before the 6th in two seasons. Think about that for a minute. I can't imagine anyone in this league consistently blows in their other leagues. It's sort of sad that we couldn't get 20 this year, I like the challenge.

I agree with Kotz this league makes me learn about players you wont even consider in most leagues. Fantasy BOOTCAMP. I like that description.

Describing this league to people is amusing since most can't comprehend how deep it is.

*raises a hand* This guy over here regularly fails a lot. That said, I won't be able to pick until round 7 ... wow round 9, but I have confidence in my team. Something I don't get to say very often in the other leagues. Here I can make plans, trades and additions and while sometimes I fail, more often than not I can get something done.

Also Kotz is right. Somehow with this league, I study up on players I normally wouldn't. Like those fringe guys who might do something. Or the incoming rookies and focus really hard on it.

And Krank, you are in prime position this year to do something with that our offseason trade. Didn't remember I also added those picks. Wouldn't be surprised if you managed to turn it around immediately.

That pick swap in round 13 was my pick originally. Sent it to you in the Michael Thomas portion of the Bell trade. That way I could keep Thomas for you. Then after keepers locked I got my 13 back and you got Thomas. That way it appeared Thomas wasn't retraded for nothing, even though in reality he was. That was indeed a pretty complex trade we did.

No, I meant you getting my 7th and 8th. I entirely forgot about that part of it! I was laughing my ass off when I realized that.

Though yeah, this trade was entirely weird, but at least it now sets a precedent that we can follow should someone else want to try utilizing that. I was half thinking you might've said no about it when I originally proposed the plan and then we sort of ballooned it, didn't we?

Though still, now that I realized about 7th and 8th, that was a great trade for both of us. Gave me a strong starting platform even if I don't get to make a move until the 9th and you get a great chance to rebuild quickly.

Should be a fun season. The only thing I wish is if we could figure out a way to make IDPs get a little more points. Not a lot more, but just so that we don't wait until the later rounds to snap them up is all. I know you and I went through all the things we could think of to get it done and found nothing that would satisfyingly work, but I still hope we could pull it off.

Kotz got those in the Derek Carr trade. I didn't get them.

Actually I just noticed I never added mine & St Gabe's trade we did to the list of offseason trades. I'll update that later and recheck I didn't miss any others.

I'm so glad Flik was dying to get Carr for two years. I can draft depth and still have a second QB plus if Devonta Freeman gets injured I now have a player who can be a top 10 RB1 but is at least top 25 and Flex-y on his own. TJ Yeldon didn't quite work out the way I thought he might. Fuck the Gus Bus.

Oh I thought it was you for some reason. Whoops. My bad. Not sure why. Geezus.

Glad it might've reminded you about that trade though.

Took me two years but I got him. Think I kept pestering you every month with a trade for Carr. Sucks that Yeldon is going to be downgraded to RB2 on Jags. Hopefully he moves elsewhere afterwards as I don't really think the problem was his fault.

A couple misspellings on keepers

Tevin Colvin should be Tevin Coleman
Dak Prescot should be Dak Prescott

Was gonna take Watson but since he's gone, gonna go with a bellcow RB to tandem with my other 2 patchwork RBs.

RB DeMarco Murray
