He was hurt all the time and wanted to travel the world. Hopefully on a 12-14 carry workload he won't be hurt so much.

Also, St. Louis is suing the NFL for the Rams relocation.

According to the New York Post, a 4th-round pick is "about as much" as the Jets can hope for in exchange for DE Sheldon Richardson.

The Bills "consider themselves set" with Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer as their starting safeties.

- Patriots waived OG Tre' Jackson. He's still experiencing knee pain from an injury in 2015.
- Raiders released NT Dan Williams, creating $4.50 Million in cap space.
- Seahawks re-signed ERFAs RBs Troymaine Pope and Terrence Magee.
- Jaguars LB Paul Posluszny said he will be moving to SLB, opening the middle for Myles Jack.

The Boston Herald reports the Bills are unlikely to match New England's two-year, $6.4 million offer for RFA Mike Gillislee. I've always been a fan of Gillislee since his coming out of college despite his bouncing around to multiple teams. Thought he had a nice all-around game with some underrated speed/ability to get to the edge.

Pats also locked up Big Game James White for three years.  Guess Dion Lewis' time is short in New England with this RB glut.

I think if you subvert the concussion test, you can't sue the league. These players know what they're doing and they'll regret it after the leave the league.

Spoiler: show
Suck it up pussies and play like men. No one ever won a Super Bowl by failing a concussion test.

schedules released.

for fucks sake the Giants play the Cowboys again in week 1.  Has to be a running joke at this point by the league.  3rd straight year and 5 out of 6!

and a Thanksgiving night game against the Redskins.  Yuck

Schedules have started to leak out.  They aren't official yet, but it looks like Green Bay may have to repeat what they did last year with a tough early schedule and relatively easy December.  At least the bye week is better this year, and the Seattle game couldn't happen at a better time (Sunday afternoon in Week 1 and Seattle often opens sluggish).

5 prime time games this year for the Raiders. Love it. SNF in Washington, TNF at home against KC, SNF in Miami, SNF at home against Dallas, then MNF on Christmas in Philly.

Don't like the start, but they could go 3-1 against Tennessee, NYJ, Washington, and Denver.

I expect Oakland to be 7-2 going into their game against New England. Also New England has a pretty tough little run with the Saints/Texans/Panthers right in a row early in the season. If they can go 2-1 or 3-0, they should walk to another AFC East title. Currently see them at 11-5 or 12-4 again.

- Free agent OT Jake Long announced his retirement after nine seasons. Was solid with Miami but struggled with injuries during his last few years with St. Louis, Atlanta, and Minnesota last year.
- Free agent C Tim Barnes will work out for the 49ers on Tuesday.
- According to the Baltimore Sun's Jeff Zrebiec, Ravens team officials have mentioned trying to build "a dominant offensive line that can mimic the Cowboys." Notable as RT and C are positions that could be upgraded and could affect who they look at with the 16th Pick and 15th Pick in the 2nd Round.

Various New Orleans media are reporting the Saints are close to a deal with Adrian Peterson. The deal will be worth just slightly less than the deal for Mark Ingram. Because, ego.

Raiders acquired RB Marshawn Lynch and a 2018 6th-round pick from the Seahawks in exchange for a 2018 5th-round pick.

That's a Patriots level trade steal if Lynch is even 3/4ths as good as he normally is.

He'll get 10-15 touches a game behind a killer offensive line, with a team that has a passing attack any opposition will be afraid of. It's a great move and he'll probably produce big time.

I don't expect much from either the Lynch or Peterson signings, but neither team basically has anything to lose by taking a chance.  Maybe it pays off big.

And speaking of aging vets, the Packers signed Jahri Evans.

I hope he doesn't sue the league after he retires because he accepts it. In all fairness I've had couple of concussions and sometimes I can't remember a few things either.

Bills have chosen to decline the option on Sammy Watkins.  I really don't get this.  They gave up a ton to trade up and get him, and he's been hurt.  It isn't like he's been terrible.  Different guys have been hurt until all of a sudden they weren't and ended up beasting, such as Jadeveon Clowney.  Buffalo frequently gives up on guys too soon.  If he still disappointed for the next two years so be it, but they didn't have much to lose by picking up the option.  Now if he gets healthy and tears it up this year, he's either gone or they have to end up paying more.

- Broncos agreed to terms with RB Jamaal Charles, formerly of the Chiefs, on a one-year contract. Per NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the deal is worth "up to" $3.75 million.
- Patriots also claimed WR Devin Street off waivers from the Colts. He was on the Pats' Practice Squad to start the 2016 Season but the Colts signed him off it. Clearly New England liked what they saw if they want to get him back.

That's what a poor attitude will get you.

Although I can't see him having the charisma for television either.

Jay Cutler will make a great spokesperson for mental health issues once he finally comes out about it. Even if he had a decent career, it feels like he wasted a lot of potential.

Jay Cutler will make a great spokesperson for mental health issues once he finally comes out about it. Even if he had a decent career, it feels like he wasted a lot of potential.

This was a guy who came in with a rocket of an arm and flourished under Shanahan including a 4,500 yard and 25 TD year in 2008. People thought he could flirt with a 5,000-30 type year under McDaniels but Jay whined (especially after his QB Coach, a guy he was very close with, got fired) and wound up in Chicago. He struggled his first year, had a solid rebound season, then kind of settled into mediocrity afterwards even with Brandon Marshall joining him in 2012.

He went just 17-20 in Denver and Orton put up similar numbers in 2009 under McDaniels (3,800 and 21 TD) to Cutler in Chicago that year (almost 3,700 and 27 TD but 26 INT). That coupled with his attitude forcing the trade out of Denver and many in NFL circles wondered what the deal was.

Could've been John Elway when he went to Chicago but it just never panned out for him whether it was his own attitude or lack of talent around him in Chicago.

I don't think he wasted any potential. He wasn't good enough to be a top QB. His decision making was lacking and so was his accuracy. I don't think he ever had the football intelligence to be successful. There was talent in Chicago too, you just can't win in the NFL anymore when you throw that many incomplete passes and interceptions. Would have to have an all-time great defense in order to do it. Was he ever a top five quarterback or could he ever have been one? No.

The Bears are a completely inept organization, but those teams with Cutler were good enough to make the playoffs more than one time.

I think 2008 showed he could've come damn close though. Shanahan really smartly used Cutler in the same way he utilized John Elway with a lot of quick hitting routes (see Eddie Royal's explosion as proof) while utilizing Cutler's mobility on rollouts and letting him target Marshall down the field on ins, crossers, and deep routes in general.

I legit think if he had stayed with McDaniels, he could've been a top 5 QB but he went to Chicago and was just a bad fit for the style of play/scheme that Lovie Smith wanted out of him (ironically, more of a Kyle Orton game manager who limited mistakes). Lovie seemed to think Cutler could've been another Rex Grossman under his tutelage and Grossman struggled more often than not as well.

Bills named longtime Carolina man Brandon Beane as GM, smart move as he has obvious ties with McDermott and the two should have a great cohesiveness that's paramount to good organizational effectiveness.

- Jets claimed WR KD Cannon off waivers from the 49ers.
- Falcons OG Hugh Thornton is retiring after four NFL seasons. Started 32 games for Indianapolis before injuries sidelined him in 2016.
- Seahawks signed DE David Bass. He's been a longtime solid STer with some deep rotational capabilities.

From everything I've looked at, Sammy pretty much has to play the entire season with great numbers for the Bills to keep him. Zay Jones is Sammy's replacement if he doesn't perform to whatever standards McDermott may have. And before you question that, they moved up to draft Zay and they also hired ECU's receiving coach before drafting Zay.

So even if Sammy's still on the team after this season, it looks like it may be that Zay's going to become the focal point of the air offense this season.
