The things that a large swath of this country are falling for, rationalizing, or all of the above is staggering. The Stormy Daniels affair, giving guns to teachers, the tariffs (and publicly wanting a trade war), I'm forgetting at least 2 other things and that's just the past week.

I probably think way too much about this. I've cut back on news intake (this is a good thing to do) but can't seem to turn off the ol' noggin. It is not, in the idea of a lot of folks, that "we need more Jesus/God." If that were so, by their reasoning, we wouldnt have the current president in office.  Obviously it is not the "kids' fault" either as the teens-20s having been showing us adults up on the regular.

I think the rise of political tribalism and people becoming (I hope there is or will be a better word for this) internety are factors. The tribalism has always existed but it seems to have found Dr Zahorian's medicine cabinet. I also think the 1980s might help to explain the Now. JR Ewing, Hulk Hogan, televangelists, Everything Big, and Donald Trump's many affairs all over the supermarket tabloids and gossip pages. It's possible that entertainment media might have become too important to too many people.

Apparently Trump also has printed off 100 tee things (like some sort of ornament) with the President's seal to be used at his golf course to celebrate his 100 days of being there. Like they were literally there at the course on day 100.

...how the hell has American not impeached this guy? I mean seriously, the man has done way more stuff that should've gotten him impeached by now. Republican or not.

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump agreed on Thursday to meet with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un by May after Kim pledged to refrain from further nuclear tests and move toward denuclearization, according to South Korean officials.

The surprise announcement was made by South Korean National Security Advisor Chung Eui-Yong in a short statement outside the White House. The White House later said no firm timetable was set.

President Trump has ousted Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and plans to nominate CIA Director Mike Pompeo to replace him as the nation’s top diplomat, orchestrating a major change to his national security team amid delicate outreach such as possible talks with North Korea, White House officials said Tuesday.

Trump last Friday asked Tillerson to step aside, and the embattled diplomat cut short a trip to Africa on Monday to return to Washington.

The name sounds silly but he's actually right that in the future control of "space" is going to be more and more important. Countries have been developing technology in that direction for decades. They just don't generally go out on tv and start blabbering about it.

HELENA, Mont. (AP) — A man who registered as a Green Party candidate for Montana's U.S. Senate race was on the state Republican Party's payroll and heads a newly formed anti-tax group, according to a review of election documents.

Timothy Adams filed as a challenger Monday against Democratic Sen. Jon Tester, who faces a tough re-election campaign, in a race where a Green Party candidate could siphon votes from the Democrat.

The Green Party qualified as a political party in Montana on Monday, which was also the state's deadline for candidates to file for office. Green Party officials blasted an email that morning to solicit candidates who could register by the day's end.

I would bet my left nut this isn't the only time this happened. Jill Stein being the other obvious one to get support from the GOP, and Ralph Nader also conveniently campaigned in swing states to help cost Gore the election.

The Green Party is one of the worst things to happen to post-Jim Crow America.

A) They're nuts
B) More importantly, they are nuts that siphon votes away from the Democratic Party, although to be fair, Libertarians do much the same thing to the Republican Party.

It's more of a function of the U.S. electoral structure (2 party system which stems from single member districts with 1st past the post voting) that turns third party candidates into spoilers. In Florida (2000) and in Michigan and Wisconsin (2016) the number of Green Party votes exceeded the Republican Party's victory margin. In 2000, those Green votes would have been enough to keep Bush from being President; in 2016, Trump still would have won even if Green votes flipped to D, but the electoral college vote would have been much closer.

The two most notorious Green Party candidates, Ralph Nader and Jill Stein, strongly push the idea that the two main parties are basically the same.

Stein, the Green candidate over the past couple of cycles, has also flirted with anti-vaxx and pro-Kremlin stuff.
All of my opinions have been thought out as a result of discourse with other people.

What about this one?

The Times wrote: "'Donald comes back up to me again, "I don't think you've met my son Donald Trump Jr.,"' Vanessa Trump recalled. She remembers responding, 'Yeah, we just met, five minutes ago.'"

Six weeks later, they met again at a mutual friend's party, The Times said. They didn't recognize each other until after an hourlong conversation.

"Then suddenly, something clicked: Wait, you were at that fashion show. Wait, you're 'the one with the retarded dad!' Vanessa blurted out," The Times reported.

According to Bill Maher last night, the Mueller probe isn't moving any arrows amongst voters.

I ventured to a right wing board in my travels, and learned McMasters is being paid by Soros and this McCabe firing sets up Comey and Hillary's downfall and arrest.

Can I just laugh at the fact that Trump has had his White House staff sign NDAs? NDAs aren't allowed in public office, therefore he just violated the law.

I mean he's already done that. It just is quite a blatant one, this one.

We have a reality tv star as president. Polygraphs are always a big hit on television. This, like most sensational headlines, will have an impact on people. This stuff is not happening in a vacuum. There are reasons why America has become dramatically worse in recent years (no, this does mean that the US was, at any point ever, perfect).

The triptych of photos that Fox used shows they know their audience better than just about any entertainment medium ever. An extra-lecherous thumbs-up'ing President Trump flanked by a Playboy model and Stormy Daniels with polygraph stuff strapped across her chest.
