Maia won that fight but I can't imagine that working against a power guy like Woodley.

A lot of what you said is probably true. I had it 29-28, bordering on 30-27 for Maia but I thought over five rounds it could have been a very different outcome.

Maia is my favourite fighter too and I don't know if he can beat Woodley. But in a way that was his greatest performance. Against a prime, super skilled and athletic guy, as an old man well past his prime he proved the power of the fuckin' half guard and thereby JIU JITSU. The size advantage should have been a disadvantage cutting all that weight at his age, but he used skill to find openings and put the fight in his preferred mode. Then he dominated and didn't let go. The way he ragdolled him in the third to seal the deal was fuckin' EPIC

A guy with the striking, wrestling, and BJJ of Masterval should have won this fight, even over three rounds. Jiu Jitsu finds a way, baby.

Imagine a young athletic dude sweeping with the spider guard off of half guard shit and then GnPing someone's face off CANT WAIT

Joanna Champion vs Thug Roae should be fun but I can't see Joanna losing if she comes in on point.

Love that analysis YPOV. 16 years of smart marks and I still can't stop coming here because of content like that. Cheers bro.

I credited Curry with that originally bc of overconsumption. But I love some Curry analysis
too.

Seems like my group of fight friends all turned on Buffer a year or so ago. I think I'm pretty tired of him. He's dressed like going to sing at a lounge or the playboy mansion later.

Dos Santos is punch drunk and has no chin anymore.  Not good for his style of fighting.

One of Maia/Woodley will be finished. Maia just doesn't have the chin to take any kind of punishment from Woodley considering the power Woodley can generate from any position and Woodley can't defend his back the way Masvidal did.

Eddie was going to win that fight but they should fight again. Result was definitely in doubt and they'll both get wrecked by elite fighters, so no reason to fight somebody else.

You're joking, right?  Outside of the brief desperation flurry Eddie was getting tuned up. I'm looking forward to an extended version when they book the rematch for a Fight Night card.

Eddie had him in a really good position. I need to watch it again but I thought he turned the fight around and was wrecking Poirier all of a sudden.

I hate to say it but Eddie is done. Super happy he came in and laid claim to th UFC belt that he deserved. I really hope the Diamond gets an immediate rematch and gets that rub.

I want to see Cain/Stip BAD. Still think 85% healthy sea level Cain kills Stipe and anyone.

Nope. Cain is done. He has to make it through a full training camp on that bad back and bad knee. Even if he does he will be worn down.

Ok. So what about all his injury woes before UFC 200? You watched that fight right? The guy is a killer and it would be an interim title fight right now if he didn't underestimate the Mexico altitude.

He fought Travis Browne and just had another surgery on his back. Fighting a guy who can't put away someone who has to shit will do a lot to help you.

He needs to prepare for a fight in a swimming pool or something. I don't think he ever underestimated altitude, he was probably hurt and worn down from training.

That's the truth. Stipe is good, not great. The entire HW division is past prime and he's good enough to exploit that. While Cain dissapoints us all with his fragility, unless he can't go anymore, he mops up post USADA Werdum, chinny Allistar, and Basic but effective Stipe.

Eddie was probably down in the fight at the time, but he was in a position where he may have gotten a finish if he could have held it and fought smart.

He seems to be one of those guys that can beat anyone on a given day, but you'll still say "that's not a good match up for Eddie. "

As a whole this was a nice night of fights.

Poirier is appealing the Texas A.C to overturn the result to a DQ win, rightfully so. I don't wanna debate the semantics over Eddie being a dirty fighter but he knowingly broke the rules and should pay for it by having his record reflect a loss.

Dustin is only getting his show money because the fight is a No Contest rather then a DQ win. What utter bullshit.

I guess the last three shows have done approximately 300,000 buys.

Which in this shows case is a shame but they don't know how to promote people so it's unsurprising. Stipe is a guy they should be pushing like crazy, he's someone you'd show people new to mma to get them into it.

Yep, even if heavyweights lose often, if they had pushed him from the Title fight and promoted him strongly with CM Punk they would have a much bigger star now. But we talk about shitty UFC marketing all the time, so

I feel like the UFC only thinks of fighters in terms of SUPERSTAR MAIN EVENTERS. If you have different fighters with their own sizeable fanbases and you put them all on one card, you can make buck.
