The Rap/Hip Hop Thread II
« on: July 27, 2015, 06:12:45 PM »
Post anything and everything related to rap unless it srsly deserves its own thread which is unlikely cause there are literally like 2 active threads in this folder.

Where would everybody rank Ironman on the list of GFK's albums? I listened to it on the way to work this morning and damn it still holds up. Would probably rank it as #2 behind Supreme.

I was just listening to his newest album with Adrian Younge which I enjoyed a lot. The last album they did (12 reasons to Die 1 and 2 are the two albuims) is among his best I think. I'd agree with Clientele and then Ironman.

I was also listening to the newest Murs album and thought it was pretty good. I've liked a lot of what I've heard from him.

Most of the stuff on Yeezus that I didn't initially like grew on me after a while. I don't think that's gonna be the case with this one.

As far as actual MUSIC. I haven't listened to any of it yet but I also grabbed during my latest "grabbing whatever new stuff that seems to be in my genres" splurge: Apollo Brown, Gunplay, Joe Budden, Mac Miller, Method Man, Rick Ross, Talib Kweli 9th Wonder, and the Dre album/soundtrack. Along with the non-hip-hip that will do me for a few months as far as new music unless anyone has some recommendations.

So that stupid ass Martin Shkreli (who bought the secret Wu Tang album), is offering Kanye $10 million to sell the album exclusively to him.

Douchebag also bragging on Twitter that if nothing else, even if his offer is rejected this will delay the album's general release for a few days.

50 Best Rap Album Openers Thought this was interesting as the music industry unspoken rule is to generally lead off the albums with the best songs or singles.

Internet/Twitter's been going nuts after Remy Ma dropped "shETHER" dissing Nicki Minaj for nearly 7 minutes while sampling Nas' "Ether" and calling Nicki out for a ton of stuff from ass implants to sleeping around to enabling her pedophile brother.

Just going back over some albums that I love, but didn't do that well in the mainstream: Q-Tip's The Renaissance and Guru's Jazzmatazz Volume 1. I struggle to find a bad track on either - they were reviewed well, but it seems like that style of hip hop has appeal to a subsection, but that doesn't translate to commercial success (especially in the case of Q-Tip, as Jazzmatazz was so niche there was almost no chance of it being popular).

Favourite tracks from each...
