NXT THREAD PART 1: http://www.therealtsm.com/index.php?topic=9331

So Baron Corbin is now a heel?
I watched RAW. I thought it sucked. The usual problems and such.

I wonder if Eva will get nothing but X-Pac heat?
Hopefully they won't be too dense to realize that.

I hope they backed up a Brink's truck full of money to The Brian Kendrick's place, because Eva was perfectly acceptable tonight, and he deserves as many sweet leather jackets as money can buy.

Eva seemed fine on (most) of the moves, but she still had no idea what to do while transitioning between moves.

Oh yeah, she's no doubt better than she once was, and by a long shot.   She's immediately better than Cameron, Rosa and Dana.   Also, it seems weird for a Diva to just be starting her in-ring career at 30.   If she turns out great, how many years do they really get of her?

I'm assuming Kevin Dunn doesn't know she's 30, or she'd be fired already.

I'm also going to assume at this point with Eva back from Kendrick's school that any further improvements are the result of Death Rey threatening to kick her head in if she doesn't get better on a daily basis.

No way Kevin Dunn would get rid of Eva. 30 or not she looks incredible and she's exactly what he's looking for in a WWE diva.

Yeah - I think Blake and Murphy are supposed to be stupid. They've already run through quite the gamut of bad hair. Pig tails, man buns, etc.

I remember listening to the Cheap Heat podcast, and they were saying that Eva's popularity is not simply heavily influenced by Total Divas, but that she's "really over" with people who watch that show, but don't actually watch wrestling. How true do you guys reckon that is?

Yeah, he had been.  TNA didn't want to let him and that's when he left.  I think he surfaced with some semi-relevant promotion at some point since he left there but did this match trying to get to WWE still.

Just getting around to watching this week's episode now.  It's funny, as someone who watched NXT before the Network, I remember when they used guys like Colin Cassidy and Baron Cobin as nondescript job guys a few times before giving them a gimmick.

Good to see Scott Dawson getting a run again.  Guessing he will never get up to main roster but he is solid as hell in tags.  He used to tag with Kris Kristopherson's kid (I am blanking on his gimmick name at the time) and always was great about utilizing a lot of tagging logically.  Regal pushed him as a modern day Arn Anderson when he was on commentary and I've heard Gaines do it before.  I don't go that far but damn solid as a tag hand.

NXT really getting that tag scene going - Enzo/Cass seem ready for call up, Vaudevillains with new teams springing up with Jordan/Gable, Hype Bros, Mechanics, heck, one of the least interesting teams are the damn champs, upped a notch because I can oogle Alexa Bliss so...

Also, sounds like Dana Brooke was at the main roster Texas house show last night.  Not sure if she was just traveling or worked it as the only things I heard was she was there and Adam Rose and Brad Maddox debuted as new team on the show.

He's got charisma and has incorporated amateur wrestling better than anyone I have ever seen into his style...but he seems like he would be too small for Vince to want to push.

I think these guys get to pitch their own names, so that is likely on him.  Maybe he had a sheet and they preferred that one but Seth Rollins is in part tribute to Henry Rollins, Curt Hawkins was partially due to Curt Hennig, Zack Ryder was for Saved by the Bell, they do a lot of the pitching themselves.

So I'm pretty sure this week is the last episode for this taping schedule, but they still have one more Wednesday before Takeover and are going to be at Full Sail this Thursday.  Apparently they are taping a show at the Barclay Center after Takeover, so what the hell are they taping at Full Sail that won't spoil the results of Takeover?  I doubt they are just gonna do ONE go-home show taping.

The first hour of Thursday's taping is the Takeover go-home show and then the other three hours are for shows airing 2-4 weeks after Takeover. Gonna make for some lame duck TV.

15 years ago I'd be rooting for Alexa to be driven through a table by the Vaudevillains.  Now I'm hoping Peyton Royce beats her up while wearing a daring ankle-bearing swimsuit.

And the women's match should main event Takeover.

NXT is miles ahead of the WWE announcers for staying on topic, but they BLOW at play-by-play. They barely call a single move, and half the time seem flummoxed by anything more complicated than a kick
Of course cage matches work.  If they didn't work, everybody would still be in the cage.

So will NXT Brooklyn be the show where the new guard takes over? I can see Bayley winning the belt and possibly the Vaudevillians (but I hope not).

Probably.  Owens should be done after this show and likely the three called up Divas.

Bayley should win but stinks because if she wasn't injured, she probably would've been called up instead of Becky.  Good for her to get the belt though.

Vaudevillains, to me, are more main roster ready than Blake & Murphy.  Alexa adds a new element but honestly, they just strike me as one of those teams like Major Bros or Teachers Pets that aren't going to stand out currently and will need repackaging before becoming JTTS.

HHH stated at today's NXT conference call that the 7:30-9:00 portion is being taped for a 90 minute episode to air next Wednesday.  Also:

Quote
HHH said you know Vince, he will take who he wants and that is the battle they will always have to fight in NXT. But that is also the strength of NXT, not the weakness. HHH is thrilled when talents get called up and move on to WWE but it also creates opportunities for NXT to keep the brand fresh and exciting by creating new stars. HHH said that despite what some say online about NXT raiding the indies, he doesn’t cherry pick anywhere. He just wants talented people, wherever they come from. It can be the indies or mainstream sports. He doesn’t care where they come from. Talent is talent. He mentioned how good Kurt Angle was and he never worked the indies. He said that you work with the talent, wherever they come from, to make them better. It’s a challenge, for sure, as sometimes long term plans get thrown out the window when someone he has a plan for gets called up. But that just makes him work harder to keep things growing.
