I hadn't seen Athena before hearing she signed with NXT but this quote from an Uproxx article stood out:

"Word is since getting to NXT, she had a tear-the-house-down match with Eva Marie"

I'm sure Eva will get all the credit in the eyes of the important people.
I watched RAW. I thought it sucked. The usual problems and such.

Athena was one of Jingus' friends on the indies, I think. There's YouTube video of some Christmas vignette they shot together for an indie promotion.

Hopefully she'll build up enough goodwill to get one of our own signed.

That black mark against her notwithstanding, she's still pretty damned good.

Different Athena. Although, that would be awesome if that Athena signed with WWE. Gotta be the same age as Charlotte.

Preview of a joke from this week's recap:

I guess Bayley decided to fight Alexa's goofy losers by finding her own.

I liked Joe contemplating turning on Finn before actually doing so. Haven't seen that since Bobby Roode saw James Storm's beer bottle in TNA.

I'm just getting around to watching this week's show now that my cable provider finally has the Network.

Weird thing that bugged me about that match was Asuka using 3 or 4 Rear Views. To me it's like Dolph using 3 or 4 Neutralizers in a match.

Wait, she attacked her current rival's boyfriend to help send a message, the ol' "if I can do it to him then I can do it to you"?

Yeah. No character development at all.

And you realize that just because you have access to something doesn't mean that you are obligated to patronize it, right? YouTube probably makes it possible for me to listen to the entire Peter, Paul and Mary musical library... but, I haven't.

I asked what the chances are that she's ever heard "Hey, we want some pussy"? "YouTube" is a non-answer.

You asked if she were old enough to hear a song released when she was either very young or not even born yet. YouTube (and Pandora, Spotify, etc.) makes it even easier for people now than ever before to discover new-to-them songs and artists, and it's not as if 2 Live Crew were some unknown act that had no mainstream attention, so get out of here with both the attitude and the "non-answer" garbage.

Now, if she were to be some huge Lordz of Brooklyn fan or slobbering all over Exciter? That would warrant some questioning.

I asked two different questions, you only answered one of them. And I stand by my non-answer allegation, for the simple reason that the availability of the music through YouTube and Spotify does not preclude someone not knowing about it. You seem to think that just the fact that Spotify exists means that, of course she's heard that song; how do you know that she even listens to rap, at all? I don't know what kind of people you kick it with, but everybody doesn't listen to every type of music, and it's far from unreasonable to wonder if someone who grew up in Northern California in the 2000s is unfamiliar with Florida rap from the early nineties.

"YouTube" is only an answer if you believe that everybody living today with access to the internet has taken it upon themselves to listen to every hit song that has ever been made, because, why wouldn't they? Access notwithstanding, I assure you that, no matter how popular an act is, or was, there's some millennials out there who have never heard a single one of their songs.

You're "sincerely" being an idiot and derailing this thread on something as dumb as, "durr hurr, she wasn't even born when 2 Live Crew existed - how can she even know who they are????" Beyond internet access, how about siblings? Friends? Other family? Parents? Why does it even matter? Answer: it doesn't - because, again, you're intentionally doing this like you do every other time someone crosses your, "I'm an old man set in my ways even though I'm only 40," gimmick.

QUESTION 1
I just want to know, is Bayley actually old enough to know who 2 Live Crew was?
ANSWER 1
You realize there are ways to hear music released before your time, right? YouTube and such?
QUESTION 2
And what are the chances that she's ever heard that song?
ANSWER 2
...it's not as if 2 Live Crew were some unknown act that had no mainstream attention...

I say bollocks to broadcasting it live but then I remember that replay is something that can happen with on demand services.

Am I seriously the only person who understands what I'm saying? The point isn't that I wondered if she'd heard the song because 2 Live Crew wasn't mainstream enough; I'm not laboring under the delusion that 2LC was underground hip-hop. I was wondering if she'd heard the song because I don't assume that white people (or, really, any non-Black people) listen to rap music. Hell, my son doesn't listen to rap music.

I am acutely aware that, if Bayley wanted to, she could easily find and listen to that song, as well as any other hits  from virtually any other artist; that wasn't the reason I was asking the question. The reason I asked the question is because I don't think that it's crazy to ask: had Bayley heard the song, before she heard the chant? And, if she wasn't familiar with the song, before she heard the chant, what was her reaction when she found out what the connection was? Why are you pricks acting like these are unreasonable questions to ask?

So those chart-topping rap albums of the past 20-plus years happened because 13.2% of the American population just kept buying multiple copies?

At this point, hip-hop is so universal that if you were born or raised in the '90s, chances are you listen to at least *some* of it. Shit, from my own personal experience, nerdy white dudes are the most likely to reference '90s rap.

Or she could have just heard The New Day reference it.
