Pat Miletich, Dominick Cruz, and that pilot who did commentary for the first few UFC's are the best in the biz imo

Cruz is still getting comfortable in the booth but for his limited experience he's doing really well. In a year or so he'll be great.

Pat is tremendous, it's a shame him and Dana would kill each other if they could.

If you see these stories, then complain about the quality of fights, and then you also say these guys shouldn't unionize...whoever says that is a moron. And I've heard it before. I don't know why anyone with talent would join the UFC.

Meltzer mentioned this and said the networks are probably going to want to take over production,  like most regular sports. The UFC would be welcoming because of the money saved.

Jon Jones is on the Joe Rogan Experience right now and man, I don't believe a thing he is saying. It's the same "I got in trouble, but its not that bad...I'll be better from here on out" he goes on about every time he gets in trouble. The dude doesn't take blame for anything.

Tonya Evinger's upset loss in Invicta has been overturned to a NC. She was caught in an armbar and stepped on her opponents face to get out of it which is a legal move and the referee forced her into a more neutral position which allowed the armbar to sink deeper and she tapped. She retains her belt.

Gerald Harris returned to the cage after a long layoff and knocked his opponent out with the exact same slam he did on Dave Branch at UFC 116. Beast mode.

Maybe I'm in conspiracy theory mode, but this seemed a bit fishy to me. The guy he fought came in WAAAAAY overweight and the dude just jumped guard against the cage and waited...my conspiracy theory side is telling me this was to get Gerald some attention to get back to the UFC.

Per the reliable and trustworthy source that is Dana White the UFC offered Cyborg title shots in what would be a new women's featherweight division against Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie and she turned both fights down.

My brother and I were talking about this recently. Where did all the submissions go lately? Seems like any submission wins now are guillotine or rear naked chokes. Not many armbars, other arm or leg locks, or even too many different chokes. Obviously ther have been exceptions  Is anyone else noticing this or has this anyways been the case and I'm just now catching it? Feels like you used to see more.

Leglocks maybe but there've been a few arm triangles on the last couple of shows and Zak Cummings hit a beautiful straight armbar from topside triangle control at the Belfast card which wasn't far back.

Cody has a nice skillset, but maaan does he ever come off as someone getting a title shot way too soon.  Cruz may not ever come close to finishing him, but I can see it being one of those 50-45 kind of score cards where Cruz just plays his usual games and Cody just looks lost.

Moved your quote just in case people wanted the threads neat.

I agree 100%. I kind of wish there was another contender to face Dom so TJ could have fought Cody to see how he faces a guy he may not have knocked out in the first five minutes. I think Cruz 50-45 is the most likely outcome. I'm torn because I hate all of Cruz's shit talking, but the name of the game is to not get hit and win, and he has mastered that.

Couple of interesting MMA Business tidbits:

Amir Khan: Boxer to launch mixed martial arts league in Britain in 2017

Also, this was a couple months ago but Chael revealed some interesting Bellator business info. The one that caught my ear was him saying fighters get financial incentives for TV ratings, similar to PPV share. Timestamped here:

I know he's already said similar things a few times before, but Dana White was especially crazy regarding Diaz-McGregor III today:

Quote
The problem with the rubber match is Diaz is a 170 pounder,” White said. “He's a massive guy. Conor is a very talented guy, he's very, very good. Every time he goes out there he looks better... [But] we should have never done it in the first place. That's what weight classes are for. They wanted to do it, we did it. They wanted to do it again, we did it again. They're 1-1.

The same ridiculous "Diaz is an enormous 170 pounder" argument as before, but this time the second part was maybe more revealing.

Quote
There's only so many of those wars you can be in in your career. It takes a lot out of you. Some guys go into wars like that and they're never the same after it. Look at Meldrick Taylor when he fought Julio Cesar Chavez. He was never the same after that fight. We've had those type of fights too. I believe that Rory MacDonald was never the same after the Robbie Lawler fight. That fight ruined him. I don't want to do that to someone special like Conor McGregor. It's just not right.

Sounds like he's afraid to let Conor do it again for fear he'll lose his cash cow.  Also hilarious that he completely wrote off Rory MacDonald now that he's gone. He's had one fight since Lawler and he's 27 years old. Maybe a little early to say he was never the same again.

As for who will be replacing ‘Goldie’ Octagon-side, no name has been revealed just yet, but the rumors continue to throw out names such as Brazilian jiu jitsu pioneer Eddie Bravo and radio show host Jim Rome.

I'm a big Rome fan but cannot see him in this role at all.
