- Reggie Ragland met with multiple clubs Sunday night, including the Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers and others. Multiple Oakland Raiders scouts spoke with Ragland at length.
- Multiple Houston Texans scouts met Sunday with Louisiana Tech DL Vernon Butler, one of the draft's most intriguing sleeper prospects. ... Other discussions included Baylor WR Jay Lee with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Georgia OL John Theus with the Houston Texans, and William & Mary DB DeAndre Houston-Carson with the Indianapolis Colts.

In an internal memo, the NFL announced players who have been convicted on domestic violence, sexual assault, or weapons charges will not be allowed to attend the Scouting Combine or NFL draft. Gonna be interesting to see how Trevone Boykin measures in. He'll try out with the QBs at the NFL Combine but teams have been inquiring as to whether he'd shift to WR instead, which is a shame as I think he has the arm tools/athletic ability to be another Russell Wilson.

Jatavis Brown, a Linebacker out of Akron, ran a 4.47 at the Houston Regional Combine. He's only 5'11" 222 so he projects more at Strong Safety unless a team thinks he could be a Deone Buccanon type and bulk up to 230-235 while maintaining his speed.

Another name to watch for: DT Justin Zimmer of Ferris State measured in at 6'3" 303 and put up a 4.89 40 and 33" Vertical. He also has a Youtube video where he benched 46 times...

Early stuff but RB Derrick Henry weighed in at 247 pounds. Also Laremy Tunsil was 6'5" 310 with 34 1/4" Arms.

Also a neat read about the Dolphins using a different "Sports IQ" Test for Prospects: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14831154/dolphins-use-predictive-quiz-nfl-combine

Updated my RB List with the NFL Combine measurements. A lot of eyebrows will be raised over Henry but he's built more like LeGarrette Blount so I wasn't that surprised.

Worth noting is that Glenn Gronkowski measured in at 6'2" 239, good size for a FB/H-Back type. Some rumblings he could also be tested as a TE despite being shorter than ideal. Marshaun Coprich was one of the shorter backs at just 5'8" but he's built like a brick at 207 pounds so he has a chance to be a late flier if he can put in a good workout/interview about his suspension issues.

A lot of solid WRs, still waiting on measurements for a few names. Worth noting that Bralon Addison and Byron Marshall (converted from RB to WR at Oregon) are names for SF 49ers fans to keep an eye on in relation to Chip Kelly. Both players possess solid size/athleticism to be a RB/Slot WR hybrid ala how Tavon Austin has been used in St. Louis.

what do you think of this harley

http://www.vocativ.com/news/289313/nfls-biggest-draft-test-combine-is-pretty-meaningless/

I loathe using Pro Bowls as the barometer, way too limited IMO. I'd rather they have done a more worth while study such as where the players were drafted round wise and whether there was any correlation/how big the standard deviation was.

As is, we all know the drills mostly mean jack but I legit do think (some) of the numbers matter. That's largely why I focus more on the Shuttle/3 Cone drills as they emphasize more NFL necessary requirements: Hip Flexibility, Knee Bend for a 3 Point Stance, Balance When Shifting Lateral, and Short Area Burst. Guys who've put up insane numbers e.g. Dante Hall, Julian Edelman, Wes Welker as cursory examples usually reflect that on the field too.

Updated my RB Rankings with the 40/Cone/Shuttles where applicable. I tend to prefer different drills for different positions (e.g. Vertical for WR/CB) so you won't see "every" number.

De'Runnya Wilson ran a 4.90 and 4.85 unofficial 40 yard dash as a "WR" but has the size to bulk up 15-20 pounds and try to make it ala Niles Paul at TE.

Added numbers to my RB and WR rankings. Wilson's a raw athlete but he flashes some potential on film as a "red zone" jumping Tight End. He's a bit stiff hipped and plays faster than he timed but he's very raw having come from a basketball background out of high school.

This Defensive Tackle class is the deepest, most athletic I've ever seen on tape. A BUNCH of quick burst, athletic FREAKS. And now these dudes are throwing up 5.04s and 5.07s at 310+ pounds, jeez!

I legit think there could be 4-5 DTs taken in the 1st Round if not even more.

Harley Quinn's Mock Draft 1.0 Notes: Made several picks that aren't necessarily "team needs" but the NFL Draft is full of surprising picks for teams over more obvious needs. Also I think a few names will fall a fair bit including Paxton Lynch, especially with the depth in this defensive class.
01 Tennessee Titans: OT Laremy Tunsil (Ole Miss)
02 Cleveland Browns: QB Carson Wentz (North Dakota State)
03 San Diego Chargers: DE DeForest Buckner (Baylor)
04 Dallas Cowboys: DE Shaq Lawson (Clemson)
05 Jacksonville Jaguars: LB Myles Jack (UCLA)
06 Baltimore Ravens: FS Jalen Ramsey (Florida State)
07 San Francisco 49ers: QB Jared Goff (California)
08 Miami Dolphins: OT Ronnie Stanley (Notre Dame)
09 Tampa Bay Buccaneers: WR Laquon Treadwell (Ole Miss)
10 New York Giants: RB Ezekiel Elliott (Ohio State)
11 Chicago Bears: LB Darron Lee (Ohio State)
12 New Orleans Saints: CB Mackensie Alexander (Clemson)
13 Philadelphia Eagles: DE Joey Bosa (Ohio State) *Value here is too good. I think they end up targeting a Connor Cook/Dak Prescott in Round 2.
14 Oakland Raiders: DT A'Shawn Robinson (Alabama)
15 Los Angeles Rams: LB Reggie Ragland (Alabama)
16 Detroit Lions: OT Taylor Decker (Ohio State)
17 Atlanta Falcons: DT Sheldon Rankins (Louisville)
18 Indianapolis Colts: RB Derrick Henry (Alabama)
19 Buffalo Bills: DE Kevin Dodd (Clemson)
20 New York Jets: TE Hunter Henry (Arkansas)
21 Washington Redskins: LB Leonard Floyd (Georgia)
22 Houston Texans: DT Jarran Reed (Alabama)
23 Minnesota Vikings: WR Michael Thomas (Ohio State)
24 Cincinnati Bengals: CB Vernon Hargreaves (Florida)
25 Pittsburgh Steelers: FS Darian Thompson (Boise State)
26 Seattle Seahawks: OT Jason Spriggs (Indiana)
27 Green Bay Packers: DT Andrew Billings (Baylor)
28 Kansas City Chiefs: WR Josh Doctson (TCU)
29 Arizona Cardinals: QB Paxton Lynch (Memphis)
30 Carolina Panthers: OT Jack Conklin (Michigan State)
31 Denver Broncos: LB Josh Perry (Ohio State)

Potential Targets for the New England Patriots It's been pretty well known among Pats Fans that although Belichick mostly ignores the numbers in and of themselves, some of them definitely matter in particular the bench press, broad jump, and 3 cone drill as far as Strength, Explosion, and Quickness.
- RB Wendell Smallwood (West Virginia). Solid RB Size at 5'10" 208 with a good 40 time (4.47), explosion (10'0" broad jump), and a blistering 6.83 cone. He's projected mid 5th-7th Round and fits Belichick's versatility in the running game.
- WR Bralon Addison (Oregon). On the smaller side at 5'9" 197 but has some strength with 13 reps and is more quick than fast (6.95 cone against a 4.66 40) much like most of his WR picks. Also has some explosion for his size: 34.5" vertical and 9'7" broad jump. He's projected late 3rd to 5th Round, possibly falling further due to the 40 time.
- FB Glenn Gronkowski (Kansas State) and FB Dan Vitale (Northwestern). Very similar size and projected 4th-6th Round area. Vitale is a bit more athletic and stronger with 30 reps, 38.5" vertical, and 4.12 shuttle but Gronkowski is much quicker with a 7.10 cone against a 4.71 40.
- TE Ben Braunecker (Harvard). Could slide up into the 4th Round but is an impressive athlete and strong: 20 reps, 35.5" vertical, 10'1" broad jump, and put up a 6.90 cone.
- OT Joe Haeg (North Dakota State). Could be their 1st Pick in the NFL Draft. Very athletic with a 9'3" broad jump, 4.47 shuttle, and 7.47 cone time. Projected 2nd-3rd Round range.
- OG Connor McGovern (Missouri). Another 4th-6th Round option put on a show benching 33 reps with a 9'1" broad jump and insane 4.65 shuttle and 7.50 cone times at 304 pounds.
- DE/DT Dean Lowry (Northwestern). Strong with 30 reps but more importantly he put up a 4.38 shuttle and 7.26 cone. A possible 7th Round project selection or Priority UDFA.
- DT Chris Jones (Mississippi State). Ideal size with strength: 26 bench reps and athleticism including a 4.62 shuttle and 7.44 cone despite being 310 pounds. Another possibility as their 1st Pick in the NFL Draft.
- ILB Blake Martinez (Stanford). Projected 5th-7th Round but has the strength (22 bench reps) and athleticism (4.20 shuttle & 6.98 cone) to be on the Patriots radar.
- ILB/OLB Dadi Nicholas (Virginia Tech). Projected 5th-6th Round and only had 14 reps but has ideal size at 6'3" 235 and flashed with a 4.38 shuttle and insane 7.04 cone time.
- CB Maurice Canady (Virginia) and CB Kevin Peterson (Oklahoma State). 3rd-5th Round rated prospects but both had solid bench strength and flashed on the shuttle and cones (7.03 and 6.94 respectively) despite not having very good 40 times.
- FS Justin Simmons (Boston College. Likely moved himself into the 4th-5th Round conversation after a blistering 6.58 cone time despite a slow 4.61 40. Explosive with a 40" vertical and the type of under the radar pick the Patriots pride themselves on making in the latter rounds. Also played CB during his career at Boston College, which helps.

Updated my WR Rankings. 36 names now listed. Also updated my RB Rankings and it now features 28 names.

WR Jaydon Mickens of Washington is the next Tavon Austin/Dante Hall. He'll be the real deal if he gets the opportunity out of the slot.

Updating the first post with Pro Day notables. Adding a 0.20 penalty to hand times, at least for the 40s, due to that being the average difference between the Combine's Electronic time and a hand time from a coach or scout.

A couple great reads related to the 40 Yard Dash: How Fast Would Usain Bolt Run? and Testing the Truth of Bo Jackson's 40 Yard Dash.

Speaking of the 40 some guy named Wendall Williams, a wide receiver from an NAIA school, ran a 4.19 40 at a regional combine. Al Davis' dick moved from beyond the grave.

http://www.todayspigskin.com/pigskin-news/naia-wr-wendell-williams-runs-4-32-second-40-yard-dash-regional-combine/amp/#

He didn't actually break the 40 yard dash record.   The 4.19 story got out and spread like wildfire, but the 4.19 was his unofficial hand timed number.  His official laser timed number was 4.32.   Still really really ridiculously fast, just not record breaking.

And the irony over all this hoopla is that Terrell Sinkfield did the exact same thing running a 4.19 hand timed at the Minnesota Pro Day in 2013.

Interesting stuff. Bill Belichick apparently directed the LB drills at the Alabama Pro Day, something I don't think I've ever seen him do before at a Pro Day since I've started following this around 2006.
