Could be reading too much into the trailer, but it seems to me like they may be trying to walk back some of the "Is Drax autistic?" subtext. That would be... unfortunate, in my opinion.

Nice to see Yondo got his mohawk back, though.

Got my ticket for the 11:30 AM showing on Sunday. Ticket came out to $1.29 thanks to a $5 Reward (Birthday Month) on my AMC Stubs account.

Going to see it Sunday. Guardians was the only movie I've ever seen on back to back days. Saw it with the wife. Brother said he wanted to see it. Went back the next day. IMAX both times. Can't wait. Avoiding everything I can about it online

When the first film came out, the Guardians definitely became my favourite slice of the MCU.. this film just solidifies that for me.

I enjoyed it a lot, but it's not as good as the first one. Few sequels are, but I felt it had a few more issues (
Spoiler: show
the space pirates getting on my nerves being one
) than the first.

I probably liked it little less than the first one, overall, but this one has a much better and more interesting third act.

Loved seeing
Spoiler: show
the Watcher cameos.

I definitely agree that the third act is more interesting this time around, as is the villain.

Solid movie probably an 8/10 for me. Lot more drama in terms of the subplots although at times it felt like Gunn was trying to get them all into the film and some of the depth/scope seemed to be sacrificed a bit. Namely the
Spoiler: show
Gamora/Nebula and Yondu/Quill
in particular especially given the result of the latter.

There was some humor and the packed house laughed quite a bit. Ego was a very good villain and the
Spoiler: show
cameo of David Hasselhoff was awesome and something I was hoping would take place
. Also enjoyed the character of Ayesha and her effect throughout the movie as I was initially worried
Spoiler: show
she'd only appear in the opening scenes and then vanish
.

3rd Act was better than the first and held its own. The 4 teasers during the credits were solid with only one I was kind of meh towards. Two were pretty cute/amusing and I loved
Spoiler: show
Ayesha showcasing Adam in her quest to get rid of the Guardians
.

That's harsh.  I've never gotten around to it for two reasons.

1) I'm not a comic book person at all.  The only superhero movie series I've seen in full and actually own is the Toby McGuire Spider Man movies.  I've seen the first Avengers and Iron Man and Captain America but they did little for me.  They were good movies, but I saw them once and that was enough.

2) IIRC it hasn't been on Netflix or Amazon streaming which is where I watch like 95% of my movies nowadays.  I know I should just spend $2 on Google Play, but see reason 1.

Also you don't need to be "a comic book person" to enjoy this.. it's pure sci-fi space pirate awesomeness.

Haven't seen it yet but my brother saw it with my dad over the weekend and he said that my father thought that Baby Groot was the funniest thing ever.

Saw it tonight and I thought it was really great. The first was funnier but this had better character development and a very satisfying payoff/final act. Lots of little easter eggs sprinkled all over too which I loved.

My only real complaints were that Drax was played too much for comedy in this one. I get that he's a funny character, but everything didn't have to be a joke.

And that there didn't seem to be that many different settings. Earth, the opening space fight, the planet they crashed on, Yondu's ship, and Ego's planet. Maybe it wasn't the case, but part one felt like there was a lot more. Having half the team just hang out with Ego for a long bit of time wasn't great for me.

Otherwise. I loved it. Solid soundtrack, but it  couldn't possibly live up to the first.

Baby Groot's first scene was just fantastic.

Better villain. And even though you could narrow the big bad down I'm glad I didn't go into the movie knowing who it was.

I'll use spoiler tags, even though you shouldn't be here without seeing the movie.
Spoiler: show
Best laughs in my crowd

"I'm Mary Poppins, ya'all!"
"I'm gonna make some weird shit" (my favorite)

I popped for the Watchers. Even though I'm kinda tired of the Stan cameos. I get that it's a part of the movies.

Yondu's death got me more than I thought. Sly was in the movie just enough. The funeral scene was very well done.

I enjoyed it enough although it felt like a Marvel take on the Fast and Furious franchise given the structure and themes but it's a good formula and everyone involved made it work very well.

Personally, I felt Peter was the least interesting main character to the point where if he wasn't involved at all, I wouldn't have missed him outside of a couple good one liners from Pratt.

I see all of that, Hawk. The exposition was pretty forced and the "family" theme was forced (harder than the FATF series) but, ultimately, I think I enjoyed this one more than the first while not necessarily thinking it's better.

It didn't have as many highs as the first, nothing as enjoyable as the prison break from the first, but there was nothing as lame as the generic MCU ending (and I appreciated the twist on it). A very "through the motions" sequel that still knows what made the original work (the cast).

Baby Groot is adorable, too, and his little rampage was hilarious (as was his credits scene).

Probably best they age Groot up. While baby Groot is great it's for the best they didn't stick with it too long.

This rocketed to the top of my MCU rankings.  In all honesty, this is the one franchise that probably could still be very successful without the Marvel name and backing behind it.  They do a good job at making all the Marvel movies distinct, but these films are just so completely different in tone, setting and general weirdness that they still stand out.  It also helps that they are written and directed by the same guy so there's more of a consistency in the characters (now that I've seen both I'm even more pissed at the bullshit Gunn went through a few years ago).
