DEADPOOL 2
« on: October 22, 2016, 05:20:29 PM »
The director, Tim Miller, has left the production of the sequel.  Rumors are he has long clashed with Ryan Reynolds.

The report I read stated Miller wanted a "stylized sequel", whatever that means, whereas Reynolds wanted a raunchy comedy style.

Supposedly the most recent issue was Miller wanted to cast Kyle Chandler as Cable and Reynolds did not agree with the choice.  Studio backed Reynolds.

I don't know what he means by stylized either but you can't move away from raunchy comedy without abandoning what Deadpool is entirely. Reynolds has had a pretty great feel for the character from the start it feels like. Hopefully things work out.

I would back Reynolds as well, since he knows so much about what makes Deadpool work. Let's get Ron Perlman or Steven Lang on board as Cable and we're all set!

Stylized is basically "let's make it more dark". Or at least I assume it is, because that's usually what happens. "I want to give so-and-so my own style on the character, new take, new visuals" becomes "let's make it more dark and gritty because what worked originally isn't what we want to keep".

Also, a sequel isn't the time you'd drastically change things up. You want to build on what worked and fixed what didn't. When you go into movie 3, then you make the necessary changes on what is stale. All the while keeping what originally worked there.

Because without what originally worked, you lose your market or damage your product.

Well THAT didn't take long.  Looks like the action will at least be on par if this goes through.  The humor in John Wick was understated, but there were a couple of laughs in there.  I guess he got tired of waiting for a movie X-Force to get green lit and took that chance that was offered.

Interesting from that article: However, 10 actresses are currently testing for the female lead Domino, who will also reportedly appear in “X-Force.” The contenders are Sienna Miller, Lizzy Caplan, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kelly Rohrbach, Ruby Rose, Mackenzie Davis, Eve Hewson, Sofia Boutella, Stephanie Sigman, and Sylvia Hoeks.

Yeah I thought so too.  I thought that maybe they'd have Morena get her mutant power due to the stress from the end of Deadpool and just become Copycat.  I don't know if any of those actresses scream "Domino" to me.  MAYBE Ruby Rose?

So rather than cast ANY of those actresses, they instead cast Zazie Beetz (whoever the hell that is, someone from "Atlanta" apparently) as Domino.  Disappointing,

So I'm not allowed to dislike casting someone I've never heard of instead of someone who I've enjoyed in things I've seen?  I forgot I have to love every casting now per the PC police.

Or, you know, you can hold out judgement of the casting until you see a trailer/the film itself or become familiar with the actress' work before making negative remarks.

I'm all for this. I love Atlanta.

Well, they are planning Deadpool 2 and X-Force for sure.  I would bet they do Deadpool 3 based on stuff they supposedly rumored to want to do not planned for this sequel (i.e. Copycat).  Wouldn't be surprised if they want to shoe-horn him in an X-men film.

Besides, the way Reynolds loves the character, I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to beat Jackman's totals playing Wolverine, so why not get a big name Cable on board?

"She was a highly qualified motorcyclist racer but not an experienced stunt person," says Conrad Palmisano, a veteran stunt coordinator and second unit director with 47 years in the entertainment industry, including credits on Sleepless in Seattle, 21 Jump Street and scores of other productions. Palmisano expresses concerns about Harris' racing background and how it would prepare her for this particular stunt. "It is my understanding that she is reported to be a pro racer," he says. "But she rode 300cc cycles. The one she crashed on was 900cc motorcycle — much bigger, more powerful."

The Deadpool 2 production was her very first job on a movie set. Several stunt people say her skills on the racetrack notwithstanding, the stunt work on Monday called for a professional stunt worker. Harris, they worry, was given the job less due to her professional riding chops and more because as a body double, her skin tone was a closer match with actress Zazie Beetz, who plays Domino in the film.
