ITS HEREEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

After a billion movies building to this I'm not expecting anything other than action and craziness and this looks like what we're going to get.

Black Panther is the culmination of my childhood in movie form. If the planet explodes after I see that movie, I'll die happy.

Can't see both Cap and Tony surviving this one. I think we see Iron Man eat it.

Personally I hope it's Tony because if we can only keep one version of the two I'd keep Cap. That's not a knock on RDJ by any stretch of the imagination but I just love the MCU Cap so much.

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure Chris Evans' contract is about up. and I think I read somewhere in the past that he wanted to ease off comic based movies (Cap, Fantastic Four, his appearance in Scott Pilgrim, even "The Losers").  That's why I'm thinking he's going to get killed off and Bucky takes up the mantle.

That's possible and it would make sense in a lot of ways but at the same time it would probably be easier to get him to re-sign then RDJ and cheaper too. All the women I know love Sebastian Stan so they at least would be down for Bucky stepping up.

If they wanted to kill Stark and keep Iron Man, they could always just insert Don Cheadle into the armor.  Rhodey played IM for many, many issues in Marvel, including the Secret Wars arc.

I think a better path to take would be to have Stark retire (for whatever reason) and make token guest appearances over the next few years.

well it sounds like Cap is in the next Avengers movie in some role and he said he did it despite it being an extension  "because it made sense. It's going to wrap everything up." now that could also be in some kind of flashback or other method. AVENGERS TIMETRAVEL TO WW2~

There are just WAY too many comic book movies that it's hard to get excited about this. Sure, I'll watch it eventually but I didn't even realize it was coming out this weekend until a few days ago.

I'm more excited for Deadpool 2.

So I watched it this afternoon. I think it did the original Infinity Gauntlet miniseries justice.

Spoiler: show
Some people will definitely hate that it's a cliffhanger but they crammed so much into this that you couldn't wrap it all up and do right by the story. It does seem rather convenient that The Snap did not eliminate any of the original Avengers save Fury and Hill (if they count)

I expect it to be a spectacle like Avengers 1 rather than a great "story" movie. These are popcorn movies at the end of the day. I plan to see it weds or thurs.

Yeah, that was amazeballs. Don't know how to say much else without going into spoiler mode so here it is
Spoiler: show
I saw one spoiler myself before seeing it and it was someone saying "Thanos wins" but even still I did not expect it on that level. Just crazy, are all the MCU movies that are coming up going to take place pre-IW? I guess going by the post credit scene they're going to use AoS as a vehicle to at least put a temporary bandage on things, def has the potential to amke the post Winter Soldier eps look tiny by comparison, lol. I'm also guessing by the Strange's last words to Tony that he did what he did because that's how he saw it play out in the 1 in (insert how many million) scenarios that he saw them winning required it. Also from the initial reaction from Thanos post snap I was expecting him to start to dissipate, I mean you wipe out half the population of the universe there's a good chance you'll be one of em.

Spoiler: show
A bit yeah, but when they were going through all the people getting taken out I was half expecting them to cut to Clint somewhere, like "Hey here's Hawkeye...and there he goes!"

I thought it was incredible. Thanos lives up to the hype as the villain 10 years in the making.

There's a lot to digest, but a few stray thoughts:

Spoiler: show
All the deaths (non finger-snap) were well done, with Gamora's death hitting me harder than expected. In the moment, I definitely thought Stark was a goner on Titan.

I know next to nothing about Thanos' children, but they mostly made for good mini-bosses, if that's that best term to use here. Had to look up his name, but Maw, particularly, was good in all of his scenes and seemed like a legitimate threat.

Red Skull's cameo was a huge surprise, and it got a noticeable gasp from the theater.

Only a few negatives that come to mind:

The Thor-Rocket-Groot portion was a bit uninteresting, but mainly because pretty much everything else seemed like an event in comparison.

What was the deal with Banner being unable to change into the Hulk? I figured they were building it up for him to make a big save near the end of the movie... but no. From the first 10 min, we already know he can't take Thanos armed with only one stone.

I want to say Cap seemed a bit underutilized in the context of the entire movie, but there will be plenty for him in the next one. And understandably, there's only so much time for each character. Overall, I thought it was balanced pretty well.

You would be 110% incorrect on that.

This movie was amazing and I feel broke the curse of 3rd Marvel movies sucking, unless I'm forgetting a good part 3.

Spoiler: show
Rocket vowing to take Bucky's arm was probably the funniest part of the movie. Well that and Drax who's always great.

So from what I gathered it seems like Thanos thinks he's doing a good deed by wiping out half the universe.

Since they weren't involved they can play it as the events of their movie is happening around the same time as the IW stuff, but now that's making me picture the end scene of it being the two of them all lovey together and then one of em gets snapped out.

All of the big deaths meant nothing to me, considering a good chunk of them were franchise leads and it's unbelievable that they'd actually kill these characters off.

In the end, it was better than JL but it still felt very meh to me. Black Panther was the better 2018 Marvel movie, by a million miles, imo.

Spoiler: show
I’d imagine that is the case for everyone that died after Thanos snapped his fingers as well as Gamora because she died in relation to the Soul Stone. I would guess Loki and Heimdall are dead-dead and Vision is up in the air because he died in the acquisition of an Infinity Stone himself.

On the deaths:

Spoiler: show
Like everyone else, no I don't think that Spider-Man, Quill, and Black Panther among others are gone forever, but it's just part of a larger narrative that will be concluded in the next movie. In the moment, I'd say their deaths didn't have the weight of Loki's or Gamora's, but the big takeaway for me is simply that Thanos won.

Since I mentioned Gamora's death: yeah, I suppose there's a good chance she comes back, which would take away the impact of that scene. That said, I'd reserve judgment on the lasting impact of all the deaths until the next one.
