Askren always has the chance that everyone, his opponent included, will fall asleep and he can win on points.

I get that what he does is different and highly effective since he never gets hit ans is never in trouble...it's also incredibly dull.

That is so weird to me because from a grapplers point of view, Askren is one of the more interesting guys out there. He isn't a traditional wrestler and has some of the best scrambles I have ever seen.

He just puts no power in his punches and needs to tighten up his submission game.

Yeah the ten seconds of him getting somewhere is great...but the rest of time where he rides people without ever trying to do anything drives me nuts.

I don't entirely mind the way Askren fights. He's a points collector for sure, but this is two stops in a row and last night he stole the heart out of his opponent so early in the fight and did enough collective damage to where he was just taking it and waiting for Ben to put him away. I could do without him going out of his way to come off like a heel though. The work speaks for itself, you don't need to get on the mic after and cut an uncharasmatic promo. He seems content being the big fish in a little pond. Hard to tell how good he really is with the ww level of competition in Bellator.

Poor Rickles. To go through a tough tournament, just to get your lights turned out in under a minute.

No surprises last night as far as the results. The commentary is just brutal to sit through.

The rumor is Bellator is hoping the UFC doesn't want Askren, gives him a low-ball offer and they can "match" his deal on the cheap.

If the UFC offers a ton of money, Askren will be in the same boat as Eddie Alvarez unless he says fuck it and stays.

HSJ, is the Askren fight worth watching? I know most don't appreciate wrestling but I love seeing dominant grapplers dominate with their grappling. Also:

If you enjoy watching Askren break another persons will, then give it a watch. There were a few points when he realized the kid had nothing for him, where he starts posing for the crowds.

He has some of the best wrestling scrambles I have ever seen and gets into positions you only really see sometimes in a jiu jitsu class, but if he tightened up his submissions and/or GNP, he would be finishing guys in the first/second round.

Basically if you enjoy a dude getting "big brothered" by a guy with ridiculous scrambles then yes you should watch it. I'd say that was easily one of the best if not the best performance from The Funk to date.

However I could do without the shitty commentary where the guy tried to say "funky" as many times as he could in the fight. The fight is worth watching just to see a mad outclassing.

Newton's in a bit of a tough spot here, doesn't really gain anything from beating Mo again.

Maybe but he wouldn't move forward, it would mean something if he beat a few other guys in between but in the same year? I don't think he has much to gain from it. He already beat him, and the fight didn't happen that long ago. But if he loses, it proves what many people thought it was, fairly or not, a fluke.

This isn't like Serra-GSP, where you're talking about the top guy in the world.

He gets to win an interim title.  He and Mo are Tournament winners and were going to face each other sooner rather than later.  The injury to Attila Vegh just speeds up the process.  There were only 2 scenarios for Newton if Vegh wasn't hurt.  Best case would have been to beat Vegh and then still face Mo in his next fight.  Worse case would have been a loss and back into another tournament.

It's perfect.  Not many people watched fight 1 or knew who Newton was.

Now they'll pay to see it and he'd be a star if he proves it isn't a fluke.

So you get a shot to make a name for yourself against a guy you beat once?  I'm sure he'll take those odds and disagree.

No but in all seriousness Diego Nunes vs Patricio Pitbull is hot shit and a totally serviceable main event.

It won't (or at least shouldn't) make an FOTY lists but that was a gritty back and forth fight and Cooper proved a lot of people wrong. Fun stuff.

It did, if nothing else show that Shlemenko, while being an entertaining fighter would likely get blown out by the top fifteen MW's in the UFC.

Best part of the card in my opinion.  I couldn't believe they didn't fit it in the broadcast somewhere.

Comeback of the year for Wilcox right there. Had a grapefruit sized lump growing out the front of his shin and the back of his head gets cut open from a brutal spin kick and still remained composed and got the sub. Fantastic stuff.

+900 Underdog LOL got damn son

It seems like Jenkins got tired and sloppy based off of reading the play-by-play. They made the offense sound brutal, so I am curious to see if The street is the real deal.

Mighty Mo won against a decent prospect himself, it's kind of fucked that he's fighting though given that he's been medically denied to fight a few years ago/

Pathetic performance from Jenkins. Hopefully this is a warning shot to all those arrogant wrestlers who think all they have to do is step in the cage and they'll cruise to a decision. MMA cardio is a different beast. Hope he learns from this, but that finish was BAD. Not in terms of how brutal it was, but just because he quit so easily due to being so exhausted.

But let's give credit where credit is due, great performance from T.I. Hopefully he takes a break from rapping to see how he can do as an MMA fighter. Looks explosive on offense, and has good anti-grappling.

Wilcox fucking up his bible quote and then following it up with "It's all about Jesus" is the best.

And Dave Rickels using an inverted triangle as a hold to beat the shit out of JJ Ambrose's ribs was pretttty nice.

Doesn't sound like Bellator is doing too hot right now. 102 drew a gate of $73,000. While the fighter payout was around $300,000. Less than 1,500 people were at the show, nearly half of the tickets were comped.

The PPV venue has sold about 1,700 tickets with 2,000 more on consignment. The arena holds 13,000
