Tokoro/Davis was soooooooo good. FOTYC along with Gaethje/Palomino from the WSOF show on Saturday. The best fights of this year are not happening in the octagon.

Him vs the champ would be a fun little grappling match but I doubt Liam would get the finish. I don't think he would be smart enough to try to get back to his feet.

I don't think over the span of 25 minutes McGeary wouldn't catch Davis in something or get back to his feet where he'd murder him. I'd pick the champ in that one despite the experience difference.

Brandon Halsey weighed in at 188.1 for his title fight tonight with Kendall Grove. In what has to be a first, at least that I can recall, Halsey has been stripped of the belt but the fight is still on and it's still a title fight but only for Kendall. So we either get a new MW champ or a vacant belt at the end of the night. And it's likely going to be a vacant belt because Halsey was gonna smash Grove and probably still will.

I heard a lot of fighters didn't make weight:

Quote
Halsey wasn’t the only combatant to come in over weight: four others on the card all were bloated in some regard. Mike Richman, who is scheduled to fight in the co-feature, is four pounds over the bantamweight limit of 135; Virgil Zwicker missed by .7; Joe Taimanglo is .2 pounds off the bantamweight limit; and Adrienna Jenkins is .7 pounds beyond the featherweight cap.

lol I don't know how much of that can be blamed on the organization and Coker, but regardless it's a bad look at a prime PR time with all the Reebok stuff going on.

It's kinda stupid to strip Halsey even though it's mad unprofessional. He's just going to win the vacant belt anyways.

How is Kimbo/Shamrock "unfinished business"?

They were supposed to fight seven  years ago back when Ken was washed up and Kimbo was punching out has beens and never was, and never would bes. Ken was rasslin' around backstage warming up and split his eyebrow open.

A light heavyweight stepped in. Flattened Kimbo in seconds. And Elite XC never ran another show.

Plus the brass at EliteXC bribed Seth to keep it standing because they were worried he'd submit Kimbo aaaaaad yeah. That didn't work out so well.

Tito is fighting McGeary on a Bellator/Glory co-promoted card, and there's a one-night, four-man LHW tourney featuring King Mo, Vassell, Phil Davis and Newton. Out of the three Glory bouts, one will be Daley vs. Joe motherfuckin' Schilling (great kickboxer for those that don't know).

Holy shit that card is gonna be entertaining as fuck, I applaud Coker's admission that Dana made this all into a spectacle anyway and saying 'fuck it' with respect to the sporting aspect of it.

Shlemenko got his punishment for his failed drug test.

3 year ban, $10,000 fine and his KO of Manhoef is now a NC.

He'll be fighting in Russia before the end of the year.

It's really interesting to watch this even just a few months after the fact. All of his stated goals are what he's actually setting out to achieve and has with the ratings and pleasing his bosses. He's also followed through and signed that big fight for Kimbo while trying to showcase great matchups and rising fighters on those events. It's refreshing to see a big shot in this business act with some integrity and do what they actually tell you they want to do.

He talks a lot about co-promotion with boxing/kickboxing orgs on Spike too, and he already has people excited about that. It's also hilariously sad how much fairer his views on contracts are with respect to how they affect the fighters compared to the UFC. He even talked about Inoki and the NYE show! He believes Japan will be a great opportunity for MMA in the future, they just need a local product.

Shlemenko can join Mike Richman on the Russia/Asia tour, no point in him coming back to the States with the money he can make over there.

Amazing knockout. It's funny that they list Joe's kickboxing record as his main stat. To justify having a guy with an awful mma record on the shows.

Thomson must be happy Coker's in charge. He's getting paid (probably a decent sum on money) to fight a guy who's never managed to beat a UFC vet.

Thomson and Davis were legit good UFC fighters, and Davis is as good as any other LHW in the non-Jon Jones tier. He's gonna feast on Tito in his first title defense.

Thomson vs. Chandler is gonna be sick.

Thomson did say that he got 35k from each of his 3 sponsors. 5k from Reebok. 100k difference, and if Thomson gets that, I'm sure other, better fighters can pull in more money.

Mo and Vassel are both hurt so the final is Davis vs Carmont.

And that's why no one does 1 night tournaments anymore. Plus Coker gets to avoid Mo looking like a joke for another card.
