Can't wait for tonight. Chandler/Alvarez and Curran/Strauss should be good stuff and if the shit-talk between Mo and Newton can translate into the fight it'll be fire. Stepanyan vs Richman should be the goods too.

Thanks, Tito.

Daniel Straus is all over Pat Curran.  I think Curran may have to finish to win.

No matter the outcome, I want a rematch between Curran and Straus.

I have a feeling Chandler is going to knock Eddie out cold - first or second round.

Great fight

Not an instant classic, but a war with both guys going all out for five rounds. Has to be a trilogy.

How shit on would Ortiz vs Jackson been if they had to follow that? I scored it slightly for Chandler, but was rooting for Alvarez. Killer fight. Nice seeing Mo lose again as well. Straus looked good as well. I don't think they were planning for three 25 minute decisions.

In the last two months we've got Jones/Gus, Gil/Diego and now Chandler/Alvarez II. I doubt anybody's going to remember anything prior to August as a FOTYC.

Speaking of which, last nights was mine. So much ebb and flow, beautiful techniques and heart for days by both guys. If the third fight is anything close to the first two it's safe to say we'll have witnessed the greatest trilogy in combat sports. I had Chandler winning 48-47 but the way he got fucked up in the fifth round I figured would leave an impression on the judges.

The rest of the card? Thank god that wasn't a PPV. Mo got exposed big time and if Newton beats Veigh I can see Bellator pressuring him to make the drop to 185 because he's never getting a LHW title shot as long as Newton is champ.

Curran/Straus wasn't bad but it's one of those weird fights where I was as disappointed in Curran's performance as I was impressed by Straus. No matter who wins in Straus vs Frodo it doesn't matter: Patricio Pitbull is going to be champ by 2014.

The thing that really put Eddie/Chandler 2 over for me was that just looking at both guys emotions and faces during the fight - they both knew how important winning that fight was. True warriors.

Yeah, it was a different version of the first fight but still equally awesome.

Chandlers flying knee to get his back off the cage was ridiculous.

That is my fight of the year without a doubt. It matched "technique" with Jones/Gus, it matched heart with Diego/Gil, but my God, two guys who refused to lose as much as they did - I honestly felt that it was the most important fight of their lives.

Fun night of fights. Pitbull train keeps rolling and Galvao showing off a mean streak was cool.

Hopefully Rampage is buying Thunder Dan something nice for stopping that when he did.

Shlemenko damn near putting his hand through Doug Marshall's liver made me smile and Rick Hawn putting a street hockey beatdown on Ron Keslar was lovely. Fun night.

Also this Goiti Yamauchi kid is pretty fucking rad.

King Mo is generally good at moving out of the way of strikes, but he's not that great at hitting back.

Also I guess nobody cares about Bellator anymore, no posts since November? Jeez.

Rampage looks slow as hell hitting those pads, I kinda wish he quit MMA and just went into Pro Wrestling. He shouldn't be entering tournaments for these kinds of paydays, he should be getting overpaid by TNA.

I hate to say it but Mo doesn't look that great either. His only offense is in control for spots, his striking offense doesn't look very good at all.

lol crowd booed the shit out of that fight. I hate to say it as a fan but I think after all those knee surgeries and the fact that he still hasn't changed that much that Mo is never gonna be what people thought he could have been.

I just want to throw out that tna doesn't pay rampage.  Spike does and they tell him where to go.  So...he'd be getting overpaid by spike to be in tna if he went back.

...

Carry on.

Either Rampage KO's him early or that fight is going to suuuuck en route to Mo winning.

And we have an early candidate for Robbery of The Year in Nunes/Bisette. Just awful.

And oooooh lawds that rnc by Dudu is your SOTY front-runner no doubt. Seconded only by Mighty Mo and his mat stylings.

I'm happy for Pat Curran that he has overcome whatever mental issues have been making him consider retirement but it's absolutely inexcusable that he's getting another shot at the FW belt tonight. I know there's very little chance the crowd begins to chant "Pitbull" but I'd love it if they did.

Curran should have won the first time but he did not look mentally all there and once the point got taken away for the illegal knee I think that scambled his brains and he couldn't get back into a rhythm. Strauss winning was more indicative of how bad Curran looked more then anything.

I can't believe it.

Holy shit I can't believe he pulled off that sub, after I saw the thumbs up from Strauss I thought he was gonna ride it out.

I put money down on Curran so I was sure it was going down the drain but damn. I feel like Strauss quit or mentally broke at the end or something, he really shouldn't have let him sink that choke in at that point. I don't know what happened.

MMA refs are the goddamn worst. Very few issues in sports have the grave consequences that shitty MMA refs do.

Considering how much worse it is on the local level and on reserves and shit, I'm glad KOAB never pursued his MMA dreams  :D

Ugh, Rickels finds out about how shitty MMA refs are too. That last punch was so unnecessary, if the fighter has to pause because he's unsure if he should throw a punch at a dead man, odds are you should stop the fight bro.

What's even worse is that unless Bellator had intervened that guy would have gone on to ref more fights later in the evening.

On the whole, fun night of fights up until the main event. In the first fight Derek Campos illustrated what might be my biggest pet peeve in mma right now: when a guy is rocked and his opponent clinches up with him to pursue a takedown that goes nowhere. He had Tim Welch badly hurt in the second and instead (twice!) dragged him to the mat and ran the clock out.

Marcin Held is awesome, love the way he chains subs together. The Anderson and Pitbull KO's were vicious. Jason Herzog is usually solid so I'll give him a pass on the Rickels thing, I think he was trying to give Caveman extra time because they were in his hometown.

Main event started with promise but quickly went downhill into a point-fighting contest. Bellator better hope Rampage wins because nobody wants to see Mo/Newton III and as a champion Newton is a tough sell. Not particularly charismatic, awkward style with very little KO power aside from the spinning back fist on Mo. His wrestling works against guys who don't know how to wrestle or grapple, other then that's he's average.

Tonight! Fun card on tap, Ward is scrappy and can hopefully bring a fun fight out of Storm before his liver gets punched the fuck up. After seeing the way Cooper's chin held up against Shlemenko I think Kendall might be in trouble here if he chooses to make it a brawl.

Good to see Wilcox back at 155 on the undercard, he was way too drawn out at 145.
