I turned it on to see Kendall get TKOed brutally. Well, saw that coming.

I wonder if Shlemenko underestimated his opponent or maybe it was just the best five minutes of Wards life as he took the fight to the Russian and IMO, won the round. You can see Ward slow down and he tapped pretty quick, but good fight while it lasted.

Shlemenko is a guy I wish would get a chance to fight higher competition, but staying in Bellator, that won't happen.

I realized last night that one of the reasons I love watching Shlemenko fight is that he always makes it gritty but still wins. He's not perfect by any means and it shows but at the same time he creates wicked drama, sometime to the benefit of his opponents and sometimes not.

Andrey Koreshkov has the flu and Jeremy Kimball missed weight so the WW and MW semi-finals are both cancelled for tonights card. Ouch.

Ugh, that title fight was rough. Not a great show, Terrado/Baseman was fun but that's about it. Oh and that dude from ATT who rocked the neck crank has some sweet 'rasslin.

In a fight he was winning up until gassing hard.

Fun night of fights on the whole. Volkov's head kick knockout over Mighty Mo is a KO of The Year contender for sure, McDonaugh looked good, ditto for that Rainey dude on the undercard. Really nice feel good moment for Ivanov in the main event, like they said on the broadcast the "comeback story" angle gets sold to shit in mma all the time but his is a legit one. Would love to see him test himself against the UFC's crop of hw's.

Muey respecto to Firas for doing something competely sensible but rarely seen by a cornerman- calling a fight off when their fighter won't. Hawn is a prideful guy and probably would have kept getting chopped down until his knee dislocated but Firas knew full well they had no chance of winning that fight with the beating taken in round one. Tons of respect for making that call, in a title fight no less.

Between Godofredo Pepey, Chris Beal last week and now Koreshkov we have had some delicious flying knees in 2014.

McGeary's walk-off punch KO was boss too.

There is a rumor that Eddie is injured and out of the Chandler fight. Taking its place would be Chandler vs Will Brooks.

Chandler vs Brooks for the interm LW title. An interm title because the champ is our for one fight. Only you, Bellator.

...and Zuffa too.  GSP beat Matt Hughes for the interim title when Matt Serra was injured.  It was understood at the time that Serra wouldn't be out long and would fight the winner soon after.  It was only done to so they could keep a main event title fight for UFC 79.

Besides real men fight 5 rounds.  I'd rather they fight 5 for a meaningless interim strap than just 3 rounds.

Also, poor Will Brooks. He's a decent prospect about to be fed to the wolves.

Anyone thing Eddie is doing this on purpose? It's a conspiracy that I can see actually being true, but I'm not sure what the protocol is for a fighter to get out of a signed contract like this.

He's taking a hell of a gamble if he's sabotaging a trilogy title fight and ppv debut which he'd likely get a percentage of to get a UFC deal out of this.

To follow-up onto what Spike said here about sabotage Rampage tweeted something to that effect.

For what it's worth Eddie says that he got concussed when he slammed his head into Abel Trujillo's hipbone doing wrestling drills.

When training for title fights, guys gotta leave that group camp mentality.  This isn't the first time a fighter going for a belt got hurt because paths crossed in the gym.

Also, going ape in practice and getting donkey konged for free in the gym when they could be saving those hits for the fight is sooo 2000s.  Can't wait til more guys curb the gym wars and realize you can't train having a chin or heart, you can only test it, so why do it frequently?

That Tito fight. Lol.

I knew Tito's size/grappling would be too much for this guy. I didn't see the fight though, why lol? The description made it sound like Tito controlled him on the ground p. easily before finding an opening for the arm triangle.

Which kills their biggest fight for the time being with the Alvarez/Chabdler trilogy.

Shlemenko is a small 185. I didn't get the idea of this one at all.

I didn't watch the show, but nearly everything I've read said that Jackson in no way won that fight.

Some people are saying the Tito fight was a work, I don't think so. Shlemenko is a blown up welterweight who might not even be that good, Tito is old but still a legit Light Heavyweight. Tito would be able to outwrestle Shlemenko all day if they were the same weight, so I think it's quite natural that he was able to control him from the turtle position like he did.

Shlemenko has that Eastern Euro guard game so once a grappler of Tito's caliber snatches a side-mounted arm triangle it's lights out. The only thing was Shlemenko's strikes on the feet seemed light, but I think he was bouncing around a lot to avoid the takedown so he couldn't set his feet like he normally would. Plus, the size difference.

This certainly was a freak show fight. I liked it :D

http://mmajunkie.com/2014/05/commission-rep-on-rampages-10k-fine-worst-behavior-ive-seen-in-pro-sports

Quote
Lewis said he went backstage after the Bellator 120 weigh-ins and took Jackson to task about the shove, which he called “an assault action” per commission rules that forbid physical contact between fighters at weigh-ins.

“His reaction to me was, ‘f–k you, motherf–ker, fine me,’” Lewis said. “I said, ‘You’re getting it.’ And it kept elevating back and forth … and it went to the point where I thought, geez, he’s going to take a swing at me.”

Rampage is awesome but he's too real sometimes.

Anybody got any dirt as to why Helwani's been blacklisted from Bellator? Ill Will and Eddie were on his radio show the other day and Eddie told Ariel to call Bjorn up and ask him a question and Ariel said he's been banned.

Probably because he's p. much a UFC employee now. The only reason any MMA org deals with him is because of the coverage, Bellator is big enough that they don't need him for that anymore.

That's true but this seemed like it was something that came about recently and Ariel has been openly working with the UFC for well over a year now at least, probably more like two or three.

I think it could just be them being slow to come to that realization. I didn't really figure out that he was a UFC employee until not too long ago, they sort of presented him as being a regular journalist for the network. I'm sure there are a lot of things that Bellator is slow to act on.

Btw, did you guys read this article on Bellator's contracts? P. damning:

I was listening then. Bjorne was talking and Ariel said that Eddie had just called in and wanted to talk. Ariel was kind of being a little dickish there, instigating.
