I think Dana is regretting giving Bonnar his blessing to go to Bellator.

The funny thing is, as bad as that fight was on a technical level, it was still super entertaining because they went at it the whole time and they're popular fighters.

If they can legit get Brock by giving him a sweet deal for say, two years, that's plenty of time to build a talent base and audience while bankrolling it on all the money he brings in. Viacom would certainly be happier knowing that not only are they not pouring money into this company, but they're also getting all that based ad money.

The best fighter on the planet not currently under Zuffa contract, Patricio Pitbull returns tonight to defend his title against Daniel Straus. I am excite.

Bubba Jenkins vs Georgi K is a pretty hot fyah co-main too, might be a bit early for Bubba but he's gotta learn to swim at some point.

I'm watching this card on PVR delay, Gonzales vs. Marius is one of the craziest brawls I've ever seen.

Everyone needs to watch this fight, it's like Melendez vs. Sanchez with better offensive skill, more big shots landed and tougher chins. The Anderson Silva front kick landed by Gonzalez that Marius just shook off was insane.

Gonzales is sick. I don't know what his grappling would look like against a legit wrestler, and whether he'd be able to implement this gameplan against  the same. But still, it's great to finally have a badass offensive Mexicutioner at welterweight.

Bubba Jenkins was out for at least five seconds while Georgi was screaming that he was out while holding onto the guillotine. People are giving Herb shit for it:

Yeah. Hard to dispute this

Two killer fights at the end. The main event lost a little though with the constant foul interruptions.

And Strauss looks like Krazy Horse at his very cleanest

Didn't see it here or in the Upcoming Fights thread but Bellator earlier this week announced their February card which has a UK vs USA theme.

Paul Daley vs Douglas Lima
Liam McGeary vs Emanuel Newton
Linton Vassel vs Sokodjou
James Thompson vs Bobby Lashley.

Bottom two fights aren't anything to write home about but Daley vs Lima is fire and McGeary has looked like a beast so far in his Bellator run, should be a good challenge for Newton.

Yeah. Bad start for Bellator in 2015. Lashley and Lima are both off the card with injuries.

King Mo is replacing Lashley against Thompson, no word about the main. Fucking sucks and being injured constantly doesn't bode well for Lima's long term prospects in the sport.

Mo vs Thompson is super intriguing, old school size difference. Losing Lima sucks though.

The main fight I'm looking forward to is McGeary/Newton. Newton is a good 205 lb fighter and McGeary has been tearing through everyone. Will be a good test for both.

Newton is somebody that was down 3 rounds in both title fights in 2014 and finished both guys in the 4th so fuck if I'm going to pick against him but I'm definitely rooting for McGeary. The inverted triangle from side control he pulled off was the most underrated sub of last year and he's got a legit mean streak about him.

Damn but same thing regarding the size difference. Kongo is more skilled on the feet but easier to grapple with, should still be an intriguing fight. PRIDE THROWBACK

Bumping this in reference to what HSJ said about Newton deading McGeary in General Discussion: I don't see it happening. McGeary is a brutally fast starter (last 6 fights ended inside the first round) so Newton is either going to get melted or be forced to throw down. It sucks they lost Lima for this card but at least we still get to see Daley can crush.

It's hard to put him on his back and keep him there though. Only guys like Koscheck and Shields were able to do it, two of the best top grapplers.

Tonight's card was wrecked by injuries, but there are still fun fighters to watch and the main event is as good as most you'd see on a typical UFC Fight Night.

Good thing McGeary won the title as it would have been overturned to a NC anyways as Emanuel Newton tested positive for Bob Marley, 3K fine and 90 days suspension.
