Marvel executive: " folks like that Guardians of the Galaxy, right? Just make one of those."

Looks like fun

Yeah, this is going to tie in nicely with the Hulk movie. Can't. Wait.

looks fucking insane. Also the way they perfectly use ONE iconic song in the trailer vs DC who in the JL trailer uses multiple songs (and a SHITTY cover) is key to me. They really get what they're doing to promote things.

I really love the aesthetic for the title card of this movie.

Much better than what they had shown originally..

You should probably put your bandit hat on now.

The title. The colorful shots in the trailer. The music. They're really trying to get some GOTG mojo going.

Yeah, definitely. I know retro 80's neon everything is cool right now but this is definitely one place where it just works perfectly.

I'll see it but I wasn't crazy about Dark World. I did enjoy the first one quite a bit and found it way more interesting than the first Captain America film.

That's a debate my brother and I still have. I say the first Cap is better. He swears by Thor.

I haven't really liked a Thor movie yet. Both had their moments though

I always say Thor > Captain America but Winter Soldier > Dark World by a landslide.

Winter Soldier is top 5 Marvel films for me.

And every time I see Cate Blanchette footage I initially think it's Eva Green

looks like it's getting great reviews on rotten tomatoes. Way more than either previous Thor did.

There is a strong comedic vibe which did take some getting use to.  But i really enjoyed it.

Just got back. Had a blast. It more than made up for the first two Thors sucking.

The non Marvel-y parts were fun and interesting, the other parts were just the usual big effect slog that wears thin quickly but Blanchett was a better performed villain than most of the Marvel acts.   The funny parts are pretty good so if you are invested in these characters, it’s a above average Marvel showing.

Enjoyed it quite a bit. It does run into some problems (the more dramatic aspects of the story outside of Idris Elba protecting people-which this could have used more of IMO; I agree that Cate Blanchett does a good job here, but Hela was not that interesting of a villain) but it hits more than not. It especially helps that it’s much more a comedy than anything else, and the humor hits nearly all the time unlike say “Guardians 2” where it could get annoying. I also like that, along with “Dr. Strange” and the “Guardians” films, this is a very bright and colorful movie.

Also, this movie reignited my crush oh Tessa Thompson.

Yes, this movie also showed you can do a really funny Marvel movie without sacrificing a good story and more importantly killing the characters to the point you don’t care about them or just flat out hate them, which was a major flaw in Guardians 2.

Out of curiosity, speaking as someone who is not really a movie-guy in general, what compels a person who isn't invested in these characters to see these movies?

It can be a variety of things,  interest in big special effects, the star power, the popularity of a film etc, etc.  Specifically with this film, I meant if you have previously enjoyed these characters, you will enjoy this film because in this film, they didn’t kill the likability of these characters which as I stated earlier has been an issue in other films.

Packed theater for the 10:00 AM showing. Very well edited, well paced, and never felt 2 Hours. I did feel that Hela (Cate Blanchett) was a bit underdeveloped but understandable given everything the movie was trying to accomplish. The acting was solid and the comedy was very natural and reminded me of GOTG 1 in a good way.

So I was watching an interview / blurb for this movie and apparently Helmsworth says that a Make-A-Wish Foundation kid (who happened to be on set) is actually the one who gave the crew the idea for "He's a friend from work" line.

Dammit, that line just cracks me up every time. Solidly done kid. Solidly done.

Really liked this movie. I didn't know Loki would be in this so much even having seen the trailers which is really refreshing given how trailers usually give away everything important. There were a ton of funny moments that I thought really added to the movie without being distracting or feeling out of place (The entire fight with Hulk especially Loki's reactions were GOAT). Thor/Loki's relationship in the movies is the only dramatic thing I really care about that carries over from all 3 movies and they've done a really good job with it.

Not one of the tip top Marvel movies but a lot of fun and considering how bad Thor 2 especially was that's more than I ever expected from it before the trailers came out.

Saw this for the first time today, loved it.

"Piss off, ghost!" made me laugh more than anything in any Marvel film.

Also dug the references to Aussie films like The Castle.
