Watched the pilot last night. It was decent. Awesome Kong actually has a pretty decent sized part and John Morrison appears as the trainer. Apparently, Carlito is in a future episode!

Me and Medium had a p. big layout for an HBO highbrow rasslin' drama, but he didn't think it would sell. There are TV execs willing to pay for that shit man.

Now, now...the dream still lives.  But what's good for executives is to understand that if they respect the artform and present it correctly, like they did with GLOW, (Awesome Kong is amazing in it, I thought.  She's got a good future in acting.) they're tap into that loyal wrestling audience and get terrific ratings and good advertising buys.

It turns out that you just need to get the tv shows out of the hands of people that don't have a love for wrestling.  Crazy.

I can't believe it took me almost the whole season to figure out that Debbie was played by Doctor Tits McGee from Nurse Jackie. Also, shout out to Carlito for getting to work the apple into his cameo.

We're four episodes deep. We'd marathon it more but keep having personal obligations to work in with the family these last few days.

I've never seen Alison Brie before and she is captivating me as Ruth. It's really well done. I'm a huge 80s music fan so the soundtrack has me giddy.

Fun series. I'd like to see them back for a 2nd season although I'm not sure how long they could realistically go. I could see 3-4 seasons max out of this unless they rely extra heavily on the characters/backstage plots & relationships.

Watched three episodes and I really like it. Brie's character reminds me a lot of Piper Chapman from OITNB mixed with Dee from Always Sunny. I get the feeling that the Ruth/Debbie drama might be the least interesting storyline as it continues on, but all the characters are great so far. Maron is perfect as David McLane. Awesome Kong and the actress playing Carmen are stealing all the scenes.

I finished and it definitely left me wanting more. I really feel like "Justine" was channeling "April Ludgate" from Parks and Rec. It took me until episode ten to figure out who she was reminding me of.

I wish some of the cameos would have been more than one episode shots. Unless I missed it,
Spoiler: show
No real reason was given for "Salty" (John Morrison) being gone other than "he wasn't working out." I guess story line wise they just needed to move it ahead to the ladies learning on their own and for "Cherry" to take on a leadership role.
It was nice, otherwise, to see a lot of familiar faces that didn't distract from the main narrative.

Good show, I recommend it.

Alison Brie looks like Kristen Wiig here, acts like her too. Marc Maron is so talented that he's able to only be mildly annoying instead of astoundingly annoying.

Gonna pass on this one.
Maybe the real deep state was the friends we made along the way.

Really enjoyed this season.  Agreed that Marc Maron is the best part of this series and Kong is fantastic.

I'll definitely watch season 2 should it happen

I liked the first half way more the second half. The show was definitely at it's best when it was more comedic, I didn't care for the melodrama at all.
Spoiler: show
Baby Aubrey Plaza being Maron's kid or the Ruth/Debbie/not Adam DeVine drama with Ruth being pregnant being examples

Some of the episodes down the stretch that focused on these plots were a slog.

Obviously, I was most interested when wrestling was the main focus of the show. Brie was grating at times, but she is a fantastic physical comedian and did show some acting chops. Maron was a bit of a revelation, I thought he was terrific. Sam Sylvia was the most interesting character of the three main ones. Debbie/Liberty Belle was kind of there, didn't really care for her either way.

Side characters stole the show just like OITNB. Loved Sheila the She-Wolf, The Viking, Bash, Cherry, Cherry's husband, Carmen, Awesome Kong The Welfare Queen. Melrose started off annoying, but had some good lines. The wrestler cameos were all great too.

Spoiler: show
Alex Riley and Brodus Clay showed decent acting skills

I'd go a 6/10 for the season. I'd watch a second season, but I don't know how long it could last. I imagine season 2 would amp up the wrestling (both in and out of the ring) even more which would be ideal. More expansion on the side characters too and less melodrama.

Lots of interesting cameos in this. Brooke Hogan looks likes she's about 56 years old.

I had some time to kill last week and finally got to this. On a side note, either visiting the GLOW doc (which is also on Netflix) before or after this series is essential viewing as there are small points in the script that reference legitimate events that were dramatized in the series itself. Also, by watching the doc beforehand, I could easily pick up on what characters were inspired by actual workers in GLOW.

I think, at most, 3 seasons would be ideal for everyone's stories to arc properly. Plus it would give enough time to establish timelines in GLOW's run. 2nd season would be showcasing as the promotion really took off, and the third season could easily bridge the fall of the promotion basically.

Anyway, great series that blended genres pretty well. It had an Orange is the New Black written all over it too.

Glad to hear although I can't see them going for longer than 3-4 Seasons with this unless they really dig deep/make stuff up to pad out characters.

HYPED

I was going to say "I'm glad we aren't waiting over a year for this like other Netflix shows" then I realized that by the time this comes out it will have been a year. Damn. But I'm very happy with this news.
I watched RAW. I thought it sucked. The usual problems and such.

Season 2 was massively better than Season 1. A lot of great character driven plots and it really built up well to a 3rd Season. Liked seeing more screen time for the side characters ala Britannica, Welfare Queen's solo episode, and even the Justine/Sam stuff towards the end.

I'm two episodes in and I already like it a whole lot.  This cast just gels together so well and I like that they are portraying Sam as an asshole, but an asshole that's TRYING, DAMMIT!  His anger at the end of the opener is quite understandable (though I kinda hope they aren't going where I think they're going with how episode 2 ends).

It's really cool to see Kia Stevens getting a much bigger role this season.  Seeing her hanging with Betty Gilpin in dramatic scenes is awesome.  The Mother of All Matches is probably one of the best episodes of the series so far.

So yeah, this season turned my opinion on the show from "really good" to "They need to be covered in nominations and awards by this time next year."  Probably one of the best second seasons of a show I've ever watched, just tight from beginning to end.  My only slight negative:

Spoiler: show
The introduction of Ray and the sudden revelation that he needs a show in Vegas and hey this show is perfect for him definitely feels like super convenient writing.  The final wedding/battle royal/Intergender match (holy shit Betty Gilpin) was just the best kind of insanity to wrap the final show though.
