Yeah... I don't know what's weird.er This fight, or the fact that a WWE title is somehow being defended at it.

Or the fact that we finally have the reason Nate Diaz wants a third match against Conor. To get his title back.

Meltzer is claiming that this is in fact not for the lineal Brawl for All championship.
I watched RAW. I thought it sucked. The usual problems and such.

I am going to assume that this fight garners half the revenue that Mayweather/Pacquiao did. It probably gets more though. In that scenario with a 70/30 split, I would say Floyd clears at least 170 million.

That's what self promotion can get you.

I'm usually the one hunting down links for people but seeing as in stuck in Monterey on my anniversary. If anyone plans on streaming this one and finds any decently working links, please find it in your heart to hook me up, thanks!

There's actually a few bars showing it here but the cover is $30 which I'd probably go for if they just charged me, but my wife would have to pay too and $60 just to get in the door is too much.

First round fluke KO by Conor. Totally feel like this is going to end up with most silliest of results and that sounds about it.

Other than both going the distance, Conor's actually the better looking boxer and yet he gets screwed over by decision.

Let me dream of chaos!!!

Judging was garbage, as always, but the ref let Conor potshot Floyd pretty much the entire fight so it is what it is. Much better fight than I anticipated, kudos to Conor for being ready.

Floyd didn't have a mark on him, it looked like Conor was just throwing arm punches.

Also, it looked like Floyd wouldn't do shit in boxing after this fight and it looked like he was well past his prime.

Conor would get killed by a legit currently ranked boxer, and he would have gotten killed here if the ref didn't step in. But I can't really criticize him because I legit felt bad for him when I heard his brain damaged post-fight interview, and ruthless Jim Gray just probing him with tough questions about his 'fatigue'.

The telltale aspect of this fight was that after a 49 fight career of going backwards, Floyd walked forwards for the entire ten rounds of this fight.

Anyone who actually thought that fight was competitive doesn't understand what they were watching. Mayweather basically did nothing the first two rounds, let McGregor show his cards, then went to work and slowly broke his opponent down. It was as one sided as one sided gets. People will give credit to McGregor simply for lasting almost 10 rounds but don't be fooled, it was a beatdown.

It's kind of funny to note that, at least on the site I was using, the over/under was 9.5 rounds.

The thing I found most startling is that Conor had a 20 pound functional weight advantage, and smaller gloves like he wanted, and not a single one of the punches that he landed did shit.

On the official scorecards all 3 judges gave McGregor the first round.  Interestingly, only one judge gave him the second.  That same judge also gave him the third.  Mayweather landed a total of 12 punches in the first 3 rounds and was still ahead 2-1 on two of the scorecards.

Conor won the first and second round for sure but I don't remember the third. I just remember a lot of arm punches and ineffective volume.

It was a better fight than I would've thought it was and both men earned a bigger paycheck.

Funny enough, Floyd may be in hot water about the fight because he tried to bet 400k on himself ending the fight in under nine and a half rounds.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/boxing/2017/08/27/floyd-mayweather-attempted-bet-400000-beating-conor-mcgregor/

And I've seen a few places say that he might've managed to get a friend to bet 87k for him, since he couldn't do it. Of course Floyd's denying this, but yeah...

And he was trying to bet on 9.5.

the truth hurts. It's amazing how triggered some of these people are. I feel like this cultish mentality with MMA fans and their defensiveness blinds them to the reality of how the industry will look moving forward.

The only good MMA PPV buyrate this year had a dude who will probably get suspended for three years. There's no prospect or even established young gun that looks like they're building a sizeable fanbase. Good luck!

Some fighters do bet on themselves (I won't mention names), but I've never heard of them betting the over-under.

Anyone can get KO'd wearing 4 ounce gloves. So I will share this.

The difference as shown in this fight last night is that if you don't sit on your punches you don't actually hit hard. He hit Floyd with everything he had. Where the power lies, especially his, is his kicks. Conor's kicks to the body bring everyone's hands down.

It's two different sports. Everyone in them is or should be tough, so I don't want to give anyone any credit for hanging around for ten rounds.

9.5 was the over/under, so if that's the number they're throwing out I'm assuming it was just a straight over/under bet. I actually bet the under and it was at -170 when I did. It was about 25 seconds from being a losing bet.

If he was up to something really shady they had prop bets on the specific round for a stoppage and I think they had the 10th round at something like 16 to 1.  It's probably pretty tough to get in a big money bet on something like that though.

http://deadspin.com/report-floyd-mayweather-jr-tried-to-bet-400-000-in-c-1798476460

He tried finding someone who would allow him to bet. By first going for the under/over and then probably saying how it would end (KO). Then tried doing it via KO and then stating when it would end.

Quote
“I think that we bet 100 on 9½,” Mayweather told ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio after the fight.

I've never heard a person who gambles say that unless they meant that exactly. I've only ever seen a person saying "I think that we bet 100 on under/over". That exact phrasing sucks, but you get what I mean.

I'm not saying that Mayweather didn't deserve to win, but it might explain why he didn't end things earlier.

However, if he can do something like make a bet on himself on when he'd end Conor, well, fuck.

Based on the amount of people around me who asked me about this fight, who otherwise have no inkling of sports interest, I'd have to guess this did boffo business.

One of my female coworkers asked me if I watched "Mayflower" fight, and my parents called Saturday night and asked me what channel the "kick boxers" were fighting on. That was just 2 examples among several more.
