Matt Hughes in serious accident
« on: June 16, 2017, 05:36:01 AM »
Quote
Former UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes has been airlifted to a medical facility after the truck he was in collided with a moving train Friday, UFC president Dana White told ESPN.

White said he's been in contact with Hughes' family, and that they are currently en route to the medical facility where the 43-year-old was taken.

"Apparently he has head trauma," White said. "His family is traveling to him now."

I don't really want to speculate on what happened, but it sounds like he's in really dire straits.

Any time a vehicle and a train are involved in a collision and somebody has significant head trauma......yeah.

Also don't wanna make a country boy can survive joke but Hughes is tough as fuck. Hope he pulls through.

Hughes was one of my first favorite fighters when I started watching UFC the 30s. Hoping for the best possible outcome.

I loved to hate Hughes during that era of UFC/MMA.  Hope the guy is all right. Damn.

Pat has some updates on what exactly went down. I gotta say he's honest about the 'country boy' mentality that might have made the situation worse. He's not sugarcoating things to protect his friend.

9 weeks or so after being hit by a train, Hughes is back in the gym - per Meltz
