The first quarter of the UFC's 2018 schedule looks p. dull

The vast majority of cards are filled with fighters I haven't heard of or people that have had their shot at relevance and blown it. And of course, the classic Zuffa staple of selling over-the-hill fighters as being 'experienced veterans'.

I feel like there are only 1-2 meaningful fights on each card, not even taking into account the lack of top talent on display. The other thing is, it's hard for me to get excited about Whittaker/Rockhold considering how confident I am in the finish.

Do you guys agree, or do you think these cards look good?

Most of these guys will never be anything or tried to be something and got BTFO by fighters that weren't great themselves. The main event is decent I guess, but that's what I mean, it feels like a lot of filler.

Do you think it even matters? I think it does because it makes someone that likes fighting as much as me want to pass on a lot of this shit. Looking over this stuff, I just want to catch certain fights after the fact, or maybe go to a bar for a big fight like Ngannou/Miocic, which also has Volkan/DC on the bill (though unless DC has fallen off this feels very likely to be a victory for him, imo).

They look pretty good to me man. Lots of brain damage to be dished out in some of those lower card scraps. Pepey vs Bektic BAH GAWD

UFC 221 sucks though.

Never judge a card by how it reads on paper, especially when it comes to fighters you don't know well.

220 is pretty weak outside of Stipe/Frankie, I don't give a shit about DC/Volkan at all. Behind the main event the best fight on that card is probably Rob Font vs Thomas Almeida.

I have to admit I was wrong about a lot of this. Most of these cards ended up being sick. I admit my bias for the fighters gets in the way, but as far as the product and building the business goes, Dana White was and probably still is the best guy for that job. Hard to argue with the situation the UFC is in now, compared to what they were when Zuffa took over.

I used to think maybe someone else should take over, but after seeing some initial corporate missteps, I think it's good that a workaholic fight fan like Dana is still around. He still needs to pay the fighters more, though.
