There is a female mma twitter personality who said that there are "must-see fights", plural, on this card. When I called her out on it she said it was a shame I couldn't see past the main event which is of course the only must-see fight on the entire card without question.

Also just breaking down the main card holy shit it's rough in terms of win/losses...

Rockhold (1-1 in his last two) vs Romero (1-1 in his last two)
Hunt (1-1 in his last two) vs Blaydes (2-0 in his last two)
Tuivasa (1-0) vs Asker (1-1 in his last two)
Matthews (1-1 in his last two) vs Li (2-0 in his last two)
Pedro (1-1 in his last two) vs Sapa (0-1).

When Li the Leech is the most accomplished fighter on your PPV main card in terms of recent wins.........yikes.

I wouldn't mind seeing this card, but circumstances are going to keep me from it. I'm ok with it. I'll try and get lucky with catching the main event on youtube an hour after

Aside from the main and co-main the only other fight that's divisionally relevant is Formiga/Ben. Kennedy is a good prospect at 145, if he wins this one it'll be 4-0 and he should get a bigger test going forward, the only problem is he's a grinder so they won't promote him.

Main Card

Middleweight   Yoel Romero   vs.   Luke Rockhold
Heavyweight   Mark Hunt   vs.   Curtis Blaydes
Heavyweight   Tai Tuivasa   vs.   Cyril Asker
Light Heavyweight   Tyson Pedro   vs.   Saparbek Safarov

Preliminary Card (Fox Sports 1)

Middleweight   Rob Wilkinson   vs.   Israel Adesanya
Featherweight   Jeremy Kennedy   vs.   Alexander Volkanovski

I want to see these. The Adesanya one I threw in there because I'm naturally predisposed to African kickboxers. I get the wins and losses thing but Rockhold's loss was a total fluke and I think he's going to win this fight pretty clearly.

Pretty clearly? That's a ballsy statement to throw behind a fighter who got shook by Dave Branch.

Yeah I think he has a lot of ways to win, especially if he somehow ends up on top of Yoel in a scramble. But he's chinny and hittable, and Yoel is Yoel. It will be very hard for him to use his BJJ. This fight is more of a pick 'em to me.

Looking at his record, Rockhold has also been hit cleanly in his last five fights. His last two, his chin has shown it can't hold up like it used to. I could see Rockhold stalking him down and finishing a hurt Romero on the ground, but I could also see him getting TKO'd on the way in. I trust Yoel's striking defence more than Luke's, so I'd put money on Yoel.

Rockhold's cardio is good and Yoel's not so good in the fifth. That's another point in Luke's favour.

Luke knocks him out with left head kick. Romero has some bad tendencies other fighters aren't equipped to exploit. Specifically he likes to attempt to catch kicks or scoop them out of his way. Rockhold throws a ton of kicks and has good setups for his best shots, plus the lefty/lefty matchup is perfectly suited to that specific kick landing when he bends down to scoop Luke's leg. He's definitely chinny but he has the best striking technique in the division, the second best ground game, and was on a long run before getting fluke KO'd.

It feels like a long time ago but this was the second guy after Jones to beat the fuck out of Machida.

I'm going to reserve my pick until I see how Luke looks in the first in terms of his striking stance. He was leaving his chin out against Branch the same way he did when Bisping finished him and if Dave hadn't have clinched with him and kept on it that could have been a very different fight. I'll need to see a difference in the way he carries his chin to confidently pick him because Romero has the speed and power to put him out if he fights the same way.

Other than the main event, I'm definitely more interested in the Cowboy card next week. The thing is with this card being tomorrow, not a lot of time to hype the one next week. One of the many problems with this over-saturation approach.

This is a hype train I've seen come out of nowhere to the point I'm wondering if the card is in such shambles people are trying to find anything to feel excited about. I just can't recall the last time I heard someone get compared to Anderson and Jon Jones.

Rockhold is rightfully considering not fighting. I think if I was him I would demand 500k more and a title shot even if he loses.

Fight's on. I really hope Rockhold smashes this guy and not only because I bet $270 that I won on other stuff on him. Feeling good about it.

This hype train looks like one I'm ready to lay down track for. Let's go. If you're not into this sport to pump up undefeated Nigerian kickboxers who fight out of weird countries like New Zealand what are you really in it for.

Catchweight (187.7 lbs)   Yoel Romero   vs.   Luke Rockhold            [a]
Heavyweight   Tai Tuivasa   vs.   Cyril Asker
Light Heavyweight   Tyson Pedro   vs.   Saparbek Safarov
Preliminary Card (Fox Sports 1)
Middleweight   Rob Wilkinson   vs.   Israel Adesanya
Featherweight   Jeremy Kennedy   vs.   Alexander Volkanovski
Flyweight   Jussier Formiga   vs.   Ben Nguyen
Preliminary Card (UFC Fight Pass)
Lightweight   Ross Pearson   vs.   Mizuto Hirota

These are all the fights worth watching imo. Not all will mean anything tomorrow and will just be fun slugfests, which is fine.. I really don't wanna see Hunt get in a war at this point.

65 bucks is the new PPV price point? Going to the WWE's method of milking as much money out of a smaller group of fans as possible. My friends and I are saying fuck it a lot more often lately.  I always have my streams....

I don't think getting put out by a shot like the one with Romero hit him with should be raising questions about his chin.

I think getting wobbled by a shot like the one Dave Branch hit him with should.

Is a break and a move to LHW the best option at this point or should he just take his lumps and work towards another shot ala Weidman?
